Blankenship, Margaret F
I found this typed roster in my mother's copy of her 201 File.
During transcription I was careful to preserve the original order, spelling,
punctuation, and abbreviations. As far as I can tell the roster is organized
alphabetically and by highest to lowest rank. My mother has informed me that
the first person on the list was the CO. I added the column headings for
clarification.
Unfortunately there is no date included on the roster. However,
according to her service record, my mother, whose name appears on this roster,
served in the AUS (Army United States) ANC (Army Nurses Corps) with the 168
General Hospital from 17 Aug 1944 at Camp Grant, IL
until 28 Nov 1945 at Rowen, France. This roster is
from somewhere in that span. Also according to her service record, the 168
General Hospital left for overseas service from Camp Kilmer, NJ on 18 Sep 1944
and arrived on Continent on 28 Sep 1944.

“Saw a Paratrooper’s body snagged in a tree.” Likely that of Pvt. Charles Blankenship of the 505th Parachute Infantry
Regiment, Whose brother Jim is a regular D-Day anniversary visitor of
the Ste. Mere-Eglise. “These Guys were sitting
ducks,” Jim Blankenship says. “The first time I came, I brought my
son. I stood in the square, and tears came to my eyes. It’s a bittersweet
memory.”
