Homer C. “Bud” Rubach, 70, went to be with the Lord Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008 at Baptist Health in Little Rock. Born Nov. 1, 1937, in Stuttgart, he was a lifelong resident of Arkansas County and an active member of Zion Lutheran Chuch in Ulm. An employee of Potlatch, he retired in 1991 as a kiln operator. He was an Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Stella Rubach.

Survivors are his wife, Jean Rubach; one sister, Betty (Joe) Haller of El Reno, Okla.; one daughter, Donna (Scott) Tefteller of Stuttgart; one son, Greg (Cindy) Rubach of Arkadelphia; two step-daughters, Cindy (Kenny) Scherm and Tina (Don) Morris of Stuttgart; three step-sons, Heath (Leah) Beck of Vilonia, Brent (Sara) Beck of Buford, Ga. and James Butler of Stuttgart; granddaughters, Kaitlyn Rubach of Arkandelphia and Tori Tefteller of Stuttgart; 11 step-grandchildren, Amanda Coleman, Jenny Barger, Danielle Blankenship, Robin, Lacy and Jacob Butler, Elijah and Gebrielle Beck, Jessica and Trent Morris and Mason Beck; and three step-great-grandchildren, Julianna and Jada Rogers and Karlie Coleman.

Funeral services, officiated by the Rev. Johnny Graham, will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Zion Lutheran Church with burial folowing in Ulm Cemetery.

Tally H. C. "Shorty" Blankenship, 78, of Crossett died Monday, July 18, 2004, at the North Monroe, LA, Hospital. Born June 8, 1926, in Crossett, he was the son of the late Alfred Jackson and Elizabeth Coody Blankenship. He retired from the Crossett Fire Department as a captain after 29 years of service and was a member of Jarvis Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Annette Blankenship; two sons, David Blankenship and wife Brenda of Tacoma, WA, and Johnny Blankenship and wife Fran of Crossett; four daughters, Paulette Scott and husband Johnny of Carrolton, TX, Jeanie Parker and husband Jackie, Suzy Fox and husband Mickey and Linda Herron, all of Crossett; two brothers, W. R. Blankenship and J. E. Blankenship, both of Crossett; one sister, Palestine Mills of Crossett; 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, four step-children, six step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Murleen Pendergrass Blankenship.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, July 21, at 10 a.m. at Jarvis Chapel Baptist Church with Revs. Gayle Riles, Ray Herron and Danny Johnson officiating. Burial is scheduled at Pinewood Memorial Park under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.

John Ernest (J. E.) Blankinship, 92, a lifelong resident of Crossett, died Friday, November 10, 2006, at his home. Born June 3, 1914, to the late Alford Jackson and Elizabeth Coody Blankinship.

he was preceded in death by his wife, Kath Lee McKoin Blankinship.

He was a retired logging contractor, working both with the Crossett Company and Georgia-Pacific Corporation. In his later years, he was an avid gardener and will be remembered by many for his gifts of fruits and vegetables, especially tomatoes.

He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Walker and husband Joe of Crossett; one son, Glynn Blankinship, Sr., and wife Susie of West Monroe, LA; three grandchildren, Jerry Blankinship and Glynn Blankinship, Jr., both of West Monroe, and Ricky Blankinship of Many, LA; one sister, Palestine Mills; one brother, W. R. Blankinship, both of Crossett; and six great-grandchildren.

A private family service will be held at a later date with arrangements by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.

Funeral for Johnnie Ruth Hughes Blankenship, 84, of Decatur will be Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Cyphers officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 5 to 7 at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Mrs. Blankenship went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 21, 2009, at the home of her daughter. She was born May 8, 1925, in Tuscaloosa to John and Martha Kellum Hughes. Mrs. Blankenship was a Christian woman who was a member of Decatur Baptist Church for 35 years and a member of Benny Sivley’s Sunday school class. She was a homemaker and devoted wife to the late Charles Thomas Blankenship during their 55-year marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her beloved son, Wayne Blankenship; and two sisters, Ann Jenkins and Louise Gray.

Survivors include two sons, Bobby Blankenship and wife, Kim, of Decatur and Tommy Blankenship and wife, Vicki, of Hartselle; daughter, JoAnne Weatherwax and husband, Roger; five brothers, Bill Hughes of Decatur, Dawson Hughes of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Charles Hughes of Powell, Tenn., Hugo Hughes and Jimmy Hughes, both of Clinton, Tenn.; eight grandsons; nine great-grandchildren; 12 nephews and 12 nieces.

Clara Blankenship, 100, of Gentry, Ark., formerly of Troy, died Feb. 20, 2008, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital, Siloam Springs, Ark. She was born Feb. 18, 1908, in Long Pine, Neb., to Walter Bruce Coe and Mary Lovelady Coe.

Mrs. Blankenship married Calvin Blankenship in December, 1925, in Detroit. She was involved in the Mother's Club, Blue Star Mothers, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #495, Home Owner's Association and was the first woman to receive Troy's "Book of Golden Deeds" award. She was a charter and life member of "Friends of the Troy Library," was appointed to the Library Board, and the library's children's room was named in her honor. She moved to Arkansas in 1969, where she conducted historical and genealogical research. Mrs. Blankenship was a member of the NW Arkansas NLAPW Branch, Highfill Willing Workers, Springtown United Methodist Church, the James Bright Chapter NSDAR, the Springtown Extension Homemakers, and a charter member of the NW Arkansas Genealogical Society.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Virginia (Fred) Poehlman, Karen Blankenship, Barbara Weaver, Clarence "Butch" Blankenship Jr., Roger (Jennifer) Blankenship, Wendy Blankenship and Timothy Savage; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Calvin (Burt); daughters Mary Patricia Blankenship and Barbara Blankenship; son Clarence Blankenship; daughter-in-law Virginia Rose Blankenship; and granddaughter Susan Savage.

Otis Kirk Blankenship, 75, of Diamond City died Monday, Jan. 24 (2005) at his home. The son of Jesse J. and Audrey L. (Albright) Blankenship was born June 14, 1929 in Fulton, MO.

He was a retired Chief Petty Officer from the U. S. Navy. He was a drug and alcohol officer for the Salvation Army. He was a member of VFW and a member of the First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Debra Jean Stover.

He is survived by two sons, Owen Blankenship of Adelanto, Calif. and James Blankenship of San Jacinta, Calif.; one brother, Michael Blankenship of Lead Hill; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2 at Fayetteville National Cemetery. Cremation by Holt Memorial Chapel.

Connie Mae McMillion, 79, of Warren, died Sunday at Bradley County Medical Center at Warren. She was born March 21, 1925, at Wilmar, a daughter of the late Edgar Blankenship and Edith Hanvey Blankenship.

She was a homemaker. She was a Jehovah's Witness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Adams, who died Dec. 25, 1948; one son, Jerry Adams; two brothers, J.T. Jackson and Johnnie Blankenship; and two sisters, Betty Jo Belin and Lois Woods.

Survivors include three daughters, Wanda Narvez of Houston, Brenda Perry of Warren and Ann Hamlet of Ozark, Mo.; one brother, Marvin Blankenship of Mesquite, Texas; two sisters, Maxine Mann and Libby Johnson, both of Warren; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Frazer's Funeral Home at Warren. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.

Survivors include a son, Kenneth Williams and wife Barbra of St. Joseph, Mo., eight grandchildren, Delise, Beth, Tim, Mike, Dean, Chris, Lynne and Brian.

She was a homemaker and of the Free Will Baptist faith.

She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Rhoads was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Minnie Hall Rhoads; three sisters, Bertha Weaver, Alta Blankenship and Edna Blankenship and by three brothers, James, Tom and Ted Rhoads.

Survivors include one brother, Chester Rhoads of Trumann; two sisters, Shirley Greenwalt of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Loretta Powell of Norman, Okla.

Memorial services were Monday, June 11 at the Payneway Pentecostal Church on Hwy 14 West in Payneway with Nick Rhoads officiating. Burial was private under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann

Mary Elizabeth Blankenship, 80, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007, at St. Bernards Medical Center. She was born March 18, 1927, at Brookland to the late C.O. and Clara Belle Nichols.

For 25 years she worked as a bookkeeper for Jonesboro Lumber Co. and was a member of New Antioch Baptist Church in Goobertown. She loved oil painting, quilting and writing. Mrs. Blankenship was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Blankenship.

Survivors include her three sons, Bob Blankenship of Jonesboro, Marty Blankenship and Phillip Blankenship, both of Paragould; three daughters, Diane Bonds of Cherokee Village, Sandra Blankenship of Paragould and Patty Brooks of Caraway; six granddaughters, Tracy White, Terrie Ponder, Becky Blankenship, Brandy Bowman, Mary Beth McCorkle, Kristin Moss; and her grandsons, Scott Hall, Joey Blankenship, J. J. Blankenship, Keith Blankenship, Chris Blankenship, Shane Maynard, Brad Blankenship and Josh McCorkle; 15 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Virginia Gambill of Jonesboro and Mildred Hamilton of Ventura, Calif.

A celebration of her life was held in New Antioch Baptist Church at Goobertown with the Rev. Larry Ring and the Rev. Leonard Lingenfelter officiating. Burial was in Nettleton Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Honored to serve as pallbearers were her grandsons and to serve as honorary pallbearers were; Eric Settlemoir, Dan Sims and David Maynard.

Bryan Keith George, 45, of Jonesboro, passed away suddenly on Monday, Jan. 29, 2008. Keith was the beloved son of Hollice and Louise Mitcherson George of Trumann. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Luther and Molly George and Mamie and Lee Mitcherson.

Keith leaves behind his parents; his brother Rickey George of Trumann; his long time friend Ms. Jamie Pearson Tubbs of Center Ridge, and too many friends to name. He was the long term manager of Payless Rental and Sales in Jonesboro. Family and friends will all miss his ready smile and his quick wit, and especially his loving heart. Keith touched their lives in a thousand ways, and their world will never be the same.

Funeral services were Thursday, Jan. 31 in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann with Nolan Glover officiating. Burial followed in the Marked Tree Cemetery in Marked Tree. Pallbearers were Dennis Goodman, Fred Pearson, David Eubanks, Jerry Brown, David Lassen, Gary Gestring, Richard Foster and Byron Rasberry. Anna Jean Glover was born on Sunday, Oct. 9, 1960, daughter of David Earl and Onita Mitchell Young. Glover died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009 at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro, at the age of 48 years 3 months and 25 days. She was born in Bowling Green, KY., and had lived in Trumann for the past 17 years and was formerly of Green Bay, Wis. She was a homemaker, faithful member of the Church of Christ that meets at Melton Ave., preacher's wife, bible class teacher and was a volunteer coordinator for the Cedar Park Elementary School.

Survivors include her husband of 27 years, Irvin "Nolan" Glover of the home; one daughter, Alyssa "JaNae" Moody and husband Travis of Trumann; one son, Ethan Earl Glover of Trumann, her parents, David Earl and Onita Mitchell Young of Trumann and a great aunt, Oleta Milam of Bowling Green, KY.

Funeral services were held Feb. 7 in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann with Ronnie Benson and Tim Glover officiating. Burial followed in the Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers were Darrell Glover, Charles Bradsher, Trent Moody, Ronnie French, Gary French, Jimmy Blankenship, Kelvin Young and Kerry Young. James Gordon "Jimmy" Blankenship, Jr., 74, of Monette, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, at his residence.

He was retired from Blankenship Hardware and Furniture, a member of the Monette First United Methodist Church, certified Lay Speaker of the First United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Men. He earned a Bachelor Degree in Arts and English at the Southwestern College in Memphis, Tenn. (now Rhodes College). He was an active volunteer at the Monette Senior Citizens and active in the nursing home ministry, a member of the Monette Cemetery Association Board, member of the fine Arts Council of Arkansas and Craighead County.

He is survived by several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James G. and Mary Blankenship.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Monette First United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Wiles and Rev. Sam Long officiating. Burial was in the Monette Cemetery with Gregg Funeral Home of Monette in charge. Pallbearers were Jodie, Jerry Reed, Gene Gathright, Sonny Wimberly, David Harrell, and Bud Cannon. Wilbur L. Blankenship, 91, a longtime resident of Neosho, Mo., passed away Aug. 26, in Conway where he lived for the past nine months. He was born Dec. 15, 1916, near Stella, Mo. He was the son of Roscoe and Lola Dopp Blankenship. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Neosho.

He worked as a machinist at Pet Milk for 41 years, retiring in 1981. He worked as an engineer for KTBN radio station for more than 20 years before retiring in 2005. On Dec. 21, 1947, he married Nadine Leonard in Rogers.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Janice James and husband Terry of Conway and Carol Ward and husband Charles of Harrison, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Kimberly James Thorn and husband Todd of Springhill. Wesley Janes and wife Jamie of Starkville, Miss., Becky James Holland and husband Trey of Starkville, Miss., David Ward and Jason Ward of Harrison, Tenn.; two sisters, Ozelle Kitts of Joplin, Mo., and Ila Jean Coy of Wichita, Kan.; and two nephews and four nieces.

Mildred Arnold Blankenship, 89, of Hot Springs passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2007. Born in 1917 in the Macey community near Monette, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Rosalie McDonal Arnold. Mildred lived in Jonesboro and Corning before moving to Heber Springs with her late husband, Tucker Blankenship, in 1975. She was a life-long Methodist, always active in her church and its programs, serving as an officer in various women's organizations and adding her beautiful soprano voice to the choir.

Mildred loved to travel, and through the years she and Tucker toured and did business in countries such as Japan, China and Mexico and traveling for pleasure in Europe and the Caribbean. Mildred, after the death of Tucker in 1979, continued to live in Heber Springs where she greatly enjoyed a host of friends, especially those members of her bridge club.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Tucker Blankenship, and brothers James A. "Jimmy" Arnold, Gene E. "Bo" Arnold and John M. Arnold.

Survivors include one son, Charles Blankenship of Heber Springs; one granddaughter, Charlotte Blankenship Griffith of Jonesboro and her mother Marolyn Robbins-Guarr; her great-granddaughter, Katherine Tubbs of Memphis; granddaughters Ashley Blankenship and Gretchen Humphries; and sisters Rosalie Patterson, Barbara Huffstickler and Polly Ferguson of St. Louis, Mo.

Funeral services were held in the First United Methodist Church of Heber Springs Thursday with Bro David Bush officiating. Interment followed in Cleburne County Memorial Gardens. Ronald (Ron) Vaughn Blankenship, Sr., 63, of Hot Springs, Arkansas passed away July 16, 2009 at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital. He was born August 21, 1945 in Clebit, Oklahoma.

Ron grew up in Bunkie. He served his country in the US Air Force from 1967 to 1971 when he returned to college and graduated from LSU in 1972. He lived his adult professional life in Pineville retiring from Central Louisiana Electric, Co in 2001. He was an avid Fighting Tigers fan and a Cajun at heart. His greatest joy was cooking for his buddies and his dog Pepper.

Nola Elouise Miller Barnes of Sheridan, Ark., was born Dec. 24, 1938, in Bismarck, Ark., the daughter of the late Carl Oather and Ora Thomas Miller. She was a member of Pine Ridge Cumberland Presbyterian Church at Grapevine, was formerly the food service administrator for the Sheridan Detention Center, and was a member of the Grant County Singing Club. In addition to being a magnificent cook, she was also a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mrs. Barnes died Sunday, July 13, 2008, at Hot Spring County Medical Center at the age of 69. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Bill Barnes, who died Nov. 15, 2005; brother, Joe Miller and sister, Floy Jean Merritt.

Survivors are her sons, Danny and wife, Lisa Barnes of East End and Darrell and wife, Stacy Barnes of Sheridan; sister, Maxine Whitley of Malvern; four grandchildren, Laura Beth, Rachel, Bradley and Kayla Barnes; one great grandchild, Tinsley Geddings; sisters-in-law, Sue Caple, Mary Williams, Betty Miller and Mary Blankenship; very special friends, Bud and Elaine Lindquist of Minot, N.D., and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be today at 3 p.m. at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Rev. Jim Bradshaw officiating. Burial will be at Lost Creek Cemetery. Jim Hance, age 74, Diamondhead passed away Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007. He was born July 12, 1933, in Winchester, Ky. to Albert Beckham Hance and Ruth Emma Nagel Hance. He graduated from the University of Southwestern Louisiana with a B.A. Degree at which time he entered the insurance field. He was employed with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for 10 years. He continued his advancement by becoming an insurance executive for The Travelers Corporation where he retired after 28 years. He was a member of Diamondhead Community Church, a former board member at Diamondhead POA and of the Men’s Golf Association. He was very active in the community.

He is survived by his wife, Alberta June McClure Hance of Diamondhead, one son, James Timothy Hance and wife, Sally of Mandeville, La., one daughter, Nancy Fuselier and husband, Phillip of Grand Isle, La.,2 two step-daughters, Tracy Veitch and husband, Harry of Malvern, Ark., Brenda Kesterson and husband, Keith of Malvern, Ark., one brother, William Nagel Hance and wife, Mary of Nashville, Tenn., one grandchild, Marie Broussard of New Orleans, La., two nieces, Elizabeth Hance and Anna Hance.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his maternal grandparents, Harry Nagel and Edna Shockley Nagel; paternal grandparents, William and Nancy Hance.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 28, 2007, at Diamondhead Community Church with Reverend Mike Fikes officiating. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday at Atkinson Funeral Home. Interment will be in Crestview Cemetery. Y.Z. Burris, 90, of Malvern died Sunday, May 25, at Saint Joseph’s Regional Health Center at Hot Springs. Born Dec. 30, 1912, at Moreland, he was the son of the late James Otis and Winnie Darter Burris, an Army veteran of World War II serving in Germany where he received a Purple Heart and three Bronze Stars. He was retired from Cessna Aircraft, a Mason, a life member of Disabled American Veterans, and a member of Tate Cemetery Association Board and Mount Vernon Free Will Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dora Davis Burris; a son, Y.Z. Burris Jr.; a daughter, Winnie Sue Burris; and two brothers, Clarence and Woodrow Burris.

Survivors include his wife, Agnes Burris; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert Burris of California, and Ricky Thomas and Marjorie Burris of Hot Springs; a daughter and son-in-law, Colleen and Ralph Hobbs of Malvern; a step son and step daughter-in-law, Jack C. and Jan Blankenship of Eugene, Ore.; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Burris of Louisiana and Helen Lewallen of Malvern; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.

Robert E. Cook, age 74, of Malvern, died Tuesday at the Advance Care Hospital in Hot Springs. He was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas on December 7, 1930, to the late John and Edna Lillian Leake Cook. Reared and educated in Hot Springs, he joined the United States Navy after attending high school and served during the Korean War. Mr. Cook was a construction superintendent for OTASCO. A member of the American Legion and of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, he also enjoyed woodworking and building things and was an avid gardener. Mr. Cook was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Malvern.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Nishihira Cook of Malvern, to whom he was married on April 2, 1950, in Hawaii; by a son, Carl Cook and his wife, Judy, of Malvern; by two daughters, Edna Cook, and Anna Bennett and her husband, Tim, all of Malvern; by two brothers, James S. Cook of Minnesota and Paul F. Cook of California; by a sister, Mary Jo Martin of Hot Springs; by two grandchildren, Benjamin Bennett and Carrie Blankenship; and by three great-grandchildren. Mr. Cook was also preceded in death by a son, Bobby Cook, and by a grandson, Jeff Cook.

His funeral will be held at one o'clock Thursday afternoon, October 13, 2005, in the chapel of J.A. Funk Funeral Home with the Reverends Larry Krisell and Darrel Teeter officiating. Following the ceremony the body will be cremated and subsequently interred on the family plot in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Full military Honors will be provided at the funeral home by the Thaddeus Caraway Post #2278, VFW, of Hot Springs.

Burl C. Williams, age 80, of Malvern passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at his home. He was born Dec. 2, 1927, in Malvern, Ark., to Claude L. Williams and Edith Jones Williams. He was a retired employee of Employment Security Division, where he worked as a field auditor. He was a member of Second Baptist Church of Malvern and a member of Rockport Masonic Lodge. His favorite pastime was spending time with his grandkids. He loved hunting and taking care of his lawn.

Mary Lee Miles Branum Schales, 87, of Rockport, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, in her home with family by her side. Born July 8, 1922, in Kingston, Tenn., to Cleveland and Nettie Lee Snow Miles, she married Luther Branum in 1938, and together they had nine children.  They settled in Malvern in 1953. Over the next 20 years, she waitressed at various diners before purchasing her own, the Frosty Freeze, which was a popular drive-in during the 60’s. She remarried in 1965 to a wonderful man, father, and step-father, Jake Schales. She dedicated her life to her children, loved her country and those who serve. She was very proud of her Cherokee Indian heritage. She was happiest when she had her family together and was needed by them. She will be greatly missed, but never forgotten by her family and friends. She attended Third Baptist Church and was a member of the Branum Hunting Club, to which she always kept the camp supplied with a pot of her brown beans and skillet cornbread. She was welcomed into Heaven by those who predeceased her; parents; an infant brother; her husband of 38 years, Jake E. Schales; a son, Bobby G. Branum; special in-laws Betty Heard Branum and Ricky Taylor.

She is survived by one brother, William “Bill” Miles and wife, Edith, of Rockport; two sons, Eugene Linda Branum of Estill Springs, Tenn. and Arnold  and Wanda Branum of Malvern; seven daughters, Dorothy Sealy of Rockport; Vivian and Arnis Hickman of Gifford; Barbara and Ray Bailey of Malvern; Martha and Charles Huggins, of Cordova, Tenn., Faye Taylor of Malvern, Zola and Ronnie Brandon of Malvern and Deloris Schales and Chris Allen of Benton; three step-sons, Edward, Don and Fred Schales, all of Donaldson; 17 grandchildren, Lana Branum Blankenship, Cleve, and Cody Branum, Lynne Sealy Drennan, Carl Sealy, Paula Sealy Cook, Brett Cheatham, Angela Cheatham Jones, Heather Branum Kindy, Brian Branum,  Peter, and Hannah Huggins, Brad Taylor, Felice Brandon Story, Bobby Brandon and Lee Brandon, and Amber Daniells Bolin; 25 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at 10 a.m., at Third Baptist Church, 817 West Young in North Malvern, with Bro. Thomy Green officiating.  Burial will be immediately following in the National Cemetary in Little Rock. Pallbearers will be her nine grandsons who openly expressed their love and compassion for their grandmother until the very end. Honorary pallbearers will be her eight granddaughters, who admired the courage and determination she had throughout life.

Mrs. Williams was a homemaker and a devoted wife and mother. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Melbourne.

Samuel Wirt Blankenship Jr. 89, of Grady, died March 1, 2001, at Trinity Village Medical Center at Pine Bluff. He was born on November 8, 1911, at Moscow, a son of the late Samuel Wirt and Maud Marie McDill Blankenship Sr.

He was reared in the Moscow/Linwood community and graduated from Linwood High School, where he was a member of the first graduating class. He also attended Arkansas A&M College (now the University of Arkansas at Monticello.) He co-owned and operated Richland Planting Company for 42 years before retiring in 1986. He was a member of Grady United Methodist Church, where he served as Sunday School superintendent, and administrative board member and chairman for 20 years.

He received the Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts of America. He was also a member of the French Town Auburn Levee District, where he served as treasurer for 37 years, Jefferson County Port Authority commissioner, and was a charter member and former president of the Lions Club. He was also a Grady Alderman for 15 years and as a Grady School board member.

He was preceded in death by a son, Samuel Wirt Blankenship III in 1956; and a sister, Florence Blankenship in 2000.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Julia Cooke Blankenship; a son, John Robert "Bob" Blankenship of Nashville; two daughters, Judy Overton of Springdale and Jo Ann Blankenship of Little Rock; a brother, W. P. Blankenship of Moscow; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a caregiver, Ruthie Lee Bohanner of Grady.

Julia Cooke Blankenship, 81, a resident of Pine Bluff died Friday July 27, 2002, at Trinity Village. Born December 4, 1920, in Wynne, Arkansas, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth S. L. and Alice Bryant Cooke.

Julia graduated from Malvern High School. She married Samuel Wirt Blankenship, Jr. in Forrest City on December 10, 1939. She and her husband lived in Lincoln and Jefferson Counties where they held farming interests. She was a member of the Grady United Methodist Church. She was active in Grady and Star City garden clubs, Parent Teacher Association organizations, Girl Scouts, and the Community Concert Association. Julia was an avid reader and a swimmer.

Julia was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, by a son, Samuel Wirt Blankenship III, one brother and one sister.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Mike Overton of Springdale; one daughter, Jo Blankenship of Little Rock; one son, John Robert Blankenship of Daytona Beach Florida; four grandchildren: Brent Shinall, Junior of Dallas, Texas; Brian Shinall of Amarillo, Texas; Pat Shinall and Micah Overton both of Springdale; and her caregiver, Ruthie Lee Bohanner.

A son, Larry Rawlings, also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband, John Blankenship of Walnut Ridge; a son, Lindal Rawlings of Lake of the Ozarks, Mo.; a sister, Wilma Baker of St. Louis; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Mr. Roy Adrian McClelland passed died Saturday, May 24, 2003, at the family residence in Trumann, due to natural causes. He was 87 years old.  Mr. McClelland was born in Monette on January 24, 1916, and had lived in Trumann for the past 52 years. He was formerly of Flint, Mich. He was a retired farmer and welder and was a member of the First Assembly of God in Jonesboro. Mr. McClelland was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Rosson McClelland who died in 2000 and by one son, Stephen McClelland; three sisters; one brother and was the son of the late Robert and Maudie Blankenship McClelland.

Mr. McClelland is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Elaine Simmons and Mrs. Paulette Haynes of Trumann, Mrs. Deborah Gunter of Shreveport, La., Mrs. Jeanette Davis of Ecru, Miss., and Mrs. Carol Steele of Olive Branch, Miss.; one son, David McClelland of Trumann; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the First Assembly of God in Jonesboro, Ark., with Rev. Mike Glover and Rev. Kenneth Doke officiating. The burial took place at the Monette Cemetery. Willard ‘Jimmy’ Blankenship, age 87, of Atkins, died Sunday, Jan. 25, at his home. A son of the late Clarence Elmer and Bessie Compton Blankenship, he was born Sept. 25, 1916, at Atkins. He was a retired chemical operator and businessman, and an Army veteran of World War II. He was hired by Basic Magnesium, Inc., which produced firebombs to be used in Germany in 1942. Governor Pittman, then-governor of Nevada, honored him with Nevada?s highest safety award. He then worked for California Tech producing rockets inside the Naval Ordnance Test Station at Inyokern, Calif. After serving in the military, he was hired in 1951 by the Kerr-McGee Chemical Corporation at the Henderson, Nev., Ammonium Perchlorate Facility. Fuel manufactured there is used in the space shuttle and Titan 4, and in military missiles such as the Patriot and the Tomahawk. He retired after 29 years with Kerr-McGee. He was a member of Trinity Temple in Las Vegas, Nev.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Blankenship; his step-mother, Rev. Christine Blankenship; two sons, Jimmy and Keith Blankenship; and a brother, Edgar Blankenship. Survivors include a daughter, Damaris Blankenship Garcia of Atkins; and three grandchildren: Krystal and Chad Roten, and Jesse Garcia, all of Atkins.

Edward Royal Duvall, 71, of Atkins died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, at his home. He was born Jan. 21, 1934, in the Buttermilk community and was the son of the late Willie and Nancy May Duvall. A brother, Doyle Duvall; a sister, Jewell Duvall; and three nephews also preceded him in death. He was a retired carpenter.

Lucille Compton, a resident of Atkins, died Saturday, March 19, 2005, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock.  She was a daughter of the late Charley Adam and Luveary Blankinship Compton. She was a Free Will Baptist. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, James W. Byrum; two double cousins, Edgar and Willard Blankinship; and a cousin, Carl Henry Holmes.

Survivors include her sister, Lorene Byrum of Atkins; a cousin, Bobby Lewis Blankinship of Las Vegas, Nevada; the family of Carl Henry Holmes; and a host of other cousins.

James Truman Coffman, 82, of Russellville died Sunday, Jan. 26, at the Arkansas Children's Hospital Burn Unit at Little Rock. Born Nov. 29, 1920, in Yell County, he was the son of the late Jim and Myrtle Augusta Douglas Coffman, served in the Civilian Conservation Corps, worked in the construction business for more than 40 years, and was a member of the Carpenter's Union and Woodlawn Free Will Baptist Church where he served as deacon for 35 years. He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.

Survivors include his wife, Selma Lucille Coffman; a daughter, Myra Jean Johnson of Tulsa, Okla.; three brothers, Elbert Condley, A.J. Etta Mae Tackett, 81, of Russellville, died Sunday, May 15, 2005, at UAMS in Little Rock. The daughter of William and Polly Miller West, she was born March 14, 1924, in Steve.

She was a nurses’ aide at Stella Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and retired in 1987. She was a member of and past worthy matron of the London Chapter 549 of the Order of the Eastern Star and Kelley Heights Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry E. Tackett; her parents; a brother, John West; and two sisters, Estelle Blankenship and Etoy Sims.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Willard and Crystal Tackett of Lovelock, Nev.; three grandsons, Michael Tackett of Russellville, Brandon Bellows of Memphis, Tenn., and Matthew Bellows of Jonesboro; two great-grandsons, Steve Tackett and Harry Tackett, both of Russellville, two great-great-grandchildren, Michael James Tackett and Brylee Tackett of Russellville; three sisters, Hazel King of Centerville, Irene Murray of Russellville and Ruby Dickenson of Springdale; 11 nephews; and five nieces.

Mike Glasco, 46, of Russellville, died Saturday, May 21, 2005, at National Park Medical Center in Hot Springs. A son of Bob and Barbara Glasco of Dover, he was born April 3, 1959, in Newport. He was a former disc jockey. He loved to sing, had a great sense of humor and made everyone around him happy.

He is also survived by a son, Robert Sean Glasco of Little Rock; a brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Lisa Glasco of Kansas City, Mo.; a sister and brother-in-law, Tracy and Steve Gist of Russellville; numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and cousins.

Robert L. Darter, 66, of Russellville died Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center. He was born June 5, 1940, in the Buttermilk Community to Everett Boyce and Cora Dellie Brewer Darter.  He was a self-employed logger and an ordained Full Gospel minister. Robert also built and was the pastor of the Jerusalem Full Gospel Church. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and loved the Lord and his family.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Marsha Lou Darter; two brothers, Archie and Harley Darter; and a sister, Hazel Darter Moore.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Mary Darter of Russellville; a daughter and son-in-law, Eleanor and Jacob Barker of the Buttermilk Community; two sisters, Geraldine Baker of the Buttermilk Community and Kathy Judd of Russellville; a brother, Kenny Darter of the Buttermilk Community; five grandchildren, Angel Barker, Viktoryia Darter, Matthew Barker, Britney Barker and Jinnefer Wilson, all of the Buttermilk Community; as well as many other relatives and friends.

James Baxton “Jim” Hardy, 67, of Russellville died Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, at his home. The son of Wilber Marco and Reba Mae Gawf Hardy, he was born Sept. 11, 1939, in Centerville, Ark., in Faulkner County. James was a 1958 graduate of Russellville High School and attended Arkansas Polytechnic College. He married Marilyn Walters on Nov. 20, 1959, at First Baptist Church in Russellville. James worked as a brick mason for many years before going to work for the Pope County Sheriff’s Office. His career in law enforcement spanned 32 years, beginning as a dispatcher and then as a Sergeant in the Criminal Investigation Division at the time of his retirement in 2006.  James was a 32nd degree Mason, and a member of Russellville Masonic Lodge 274, Scottish Rite Valley of Fort Smith and Scimitar Shrine Temple in Little Rock. He served as Chapter Dad for the Arkansas Valley Order of DeMolay for boys in the 1970s.

He was preceded in death by his father; his paternal grandparents, Dr. H.B. and Cora Hardy of Greenbrier; and his maternal grandparents, James Monroe and Stella Allen Gawf of Russellville.

A daughter of the late Robert and Anna Cecelia Winter Guyer, she was born Dec. 12, 1924, in Pine Bluff and was raised in the Hardin Community. She retired from the Dardanelle Hospital after serving for more than 11 years as a nurses’ aide. She was the widow of Ira Richard Spears, and was also preceded in death by two grandsons, Richard Blankenship and Billy Sharp; two sisters, Velma Campbell and Elvie Stokes; and four brothers, Jack, George and Bill Parker, and Jessie Goins.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Maureen Bradshaw of Conway; four daughters and sons-in-law, Stella and Clyde Byrd of Dardanelle, Pat and Bill Blankenship of Sheridan, Libby and Blaine Brown of Kalama, Wash., and Kathy and Harry Brownlee of Dardanelle; a brother, Paul Harton of Warren, Ark.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Irene Blankenship, daughter of Howard and Mary Emma Westfahl Burns was born, February 12, 1917 in Reno County, Kansas. She departed this life, Friday, January 12, 2007 in Hospice Home Care, Little Rock, Arkansas, at the age of eighty-nine years and eleven months.

On July 25, 1945 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, she was united in marriage to Lilburn Filmore Blankenship and to this union, one daughter was born. He preceded her in death on August 7, 1986 after forty-one years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Wilma McCutchen and Margaret Dyer and four brothers, Wayne, Sylvester, Eugene and Robert Burns.

Survivors include her daughter, Bonnie Jean Black and her husband, David, of Little Rock, Arkansas; a grandson, Steven L. Black of Chicago, Illinois; a sister, Mary Evelyn Hennessy of Springfield, Missouri; a brother, Thomas A. Burns, of Ft. Scott, Kansas; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Burns, of Nixa, Missouri and a host of other relatives and friends.

Irene was raised in Kansas and graduated from high school in Haven, Kansas. After graduation, she moved to Camdenton, Missouri to work. She later moved to Bath, Maine and worked as a payroll keeper for Bath Iron Works. In 1948, she and her husband moved back to Camdenton, Missouri on Wilkerson Avenue and made their home there, where they lovingly raised their daughter. Her husband served in the U.S. Navy for over twenty years while she worked for many years as a secretary for R.W. Vaught Plumbing and Heating Contractors until the business closed in 1972.

Irene made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Community Christian Church in Camdenton, where she served as church secretary for several years. She was also a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit #193 in Camdenton. She volunteered for many years at the Lamb House.

Irene was an enthusiastic fan of Missouri Tiger Basketball and Camdenton Laker Football. She always made time to listen to the games and took them very seriously. In her spare time, she enjoyed yard work and growing beautiful flowers, especially iris. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2007, in the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Burial will be in Freedom Cemetery, Montreal.

Clinton J. Blankenship, 69, of Little Rock went to be with the Lord March 17, 2008. He was born September 12, 1938 in West Point, Mississippi. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Clint was an accomplished man, receiving a liberal arts degree from the University of Mississippi at Oxford in 1961 and a Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Tennessee at Nashville in 1963. He had a passion for art, literature and music, but his true love was his family.

Blankenship, William Jack (February 4, 1921 - August 23, 2009)
              William Jack "Pug" Blankenship resided in Charleston, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2009, in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was one of nine children and was born February 4, 1921 in Hoxie, Arkansas to the late Willoughby Blankenship and Mollie Robins Blankenship. He was 88 years old.

He is also preceded in death by his one wife, Susie Broach Blankenship, whom he was married to for 60 years and one daughter, Karen Burroughs. He met his wife Susie when he was 16 years old at the Church of Christ in Damascus, Arkansas. On their first date, he took her to Dapper Dan's Cafe in Damascus and bought her a Nehi Orange Soda. Someone told him that was a pretty cheap date. He replied "It was cheaper than that, we shared the soda." However it wasn't cheap at all because after that he bought milk from her dad, Louis Broach, for 10 cents a gallon. He drank a lot of milk! He married Susie Broach, May 9, 1942. They had four children, Jack, Karen, Mike and Phillip.

He joined the Army on September 21, 1939 and retired November 30, 1959, as a master sergeant. He served in a major campaigns in Germany, Phillippines, Japan, and Korea, where he received a Battlefield Commission. He was a Master Mason. He admitted the Doric Lodge #471 in Damascus and became a Master Mason at Solomon Lodge #1 in Savanah, Georgia, which is the oldest lodge in America. He managed the largest NCO and Officers Clubs in the world and after retirement, he managed the Hot Springs Country Club and later owned the Golden Arrow Diner in Lavaca, Arkansas. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Charleston. He is remembered by his gentle spirit and friendliness to everyone and his astounding whit.

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 25, 2009, at the Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston. Burial will be at the Parks Cemetery in Charleston, with "Full Military Honors", under the direction of the Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston.

He is survived by three sons, Jack Blankenship of Conway, Mike Blankenship and Phillip Blankenship, both of Charleston; two brothers, John Blankenship of Killeen, Texas and Willoughby (Red) Blankenship of Heber Springs; one sister, Judy Allen of Jacksonville; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

She was a homemaker and member of the First Presbyterian Church, Pine Bluff, Ark.

She was married Dec. 24, 1941, in Miller County to Basil Blankenship, who preceded her in death Aug. 6, 1991.

Survivors include: two sons, Gary Blankenship, North Little Rock, Ark., and Gregory

Blankenship, Jacksonville, Ark.; one daughter, Trena Blankenship, North Little Rock, Ark.; one

sister, Lucille Beeves, Shawnee, Kan.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one

great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 10 am, Tuesday at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles.

Burial will be in the Versailles Cemetery.

Billy Joe Blankenship, 66, of Roland, died Thursday, April 17, 2003. He was born in Green County, TN to Toney and Nellie Norton Blankenship.

After High School he joined the U. S. Airforce. In 1957 he married Dorothea "Dot" Ellington. He had been employed by Howard's Cleaners, Arkansas Distributors, Building Plastics, Inc. and in 1982 became the owner of Tanglewood Texaco, retiring in 1998. Mr. Blankenship was a member and Deacon of New Hope Baptist Church, a member and Past Master of Roland Masonic Lodge #508 and the Albert Pike Lodge #714, the Scottish Rite, and member of the Shrine Past Master Degree Team.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and a brother.

He is survived by his wife, a son, Ken Blankenship and his wife Linda, daughter, Nancy Hambrick and her husband Danny, three granddaughters: Jenny and Jayma Blankenship and Haley Malin, his mother-in-law, Dorothea Ellington all of Roland, six sisters, four brothers and a host of nephews and nieces.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 2:00 p.m. on Monday at Ruebel Funeral Home chapel, officiated by Rev. Danny Taylor, Rev. Richard Blankenship and Rev. Rusty Wishon. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Mr. J.T. Jarrett, age 72, of Palestine, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at Methodist Hospital in Memphis.  Mr. Jarrett, born May 17, 1929, in Mississippi was the son of Will S. Jarrett and Mabel Tharp Jarrett. He made his home in Palestine for all of his life and was a retired farmer.

Mr. Roland Hassell Troxell, age 81, of Forrest City, died Friday, Nov. 22, 2002, at his home. Mr. Troxell was born on Feb. 6, 1921 in Searcy, the son of Henry Hassell Troxell and Viola Dollar Troxell. He lived in Forrest City for most of his life and was the owner and operator of Southern Furniture Company. Mr. Troxell was a Lions Club member and former vice-president and member of the Chamber of Commerce, Merchant's Committee chairman. He also served as vice-president of Nathan Bedford Forrest Academy and vice-president of the Arkansas Furniture Association. He was businessman of the year and was a veteran of World War II with the Army Air Corp. Mr. Troxell was also a member of Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Troxell married Hazel Blankenship in 1946 and she preceded him in death in 1995. He is survived by three daughters, Desha Miller of Tullahoma, Tenn., Jo Patterson of Forrest City, RoAnn Powell of Caldwell; two sisters, Rene Warner of Yardley, Pa., and Beryl Wilson of California; two brothers, Don Troxell and Jerry Troxell both of California and six grandchildren.

Marie "Molly" Blankenship, 80, of Benton, Arkansas, died Sunday, February 3, 2002, at Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton. Mrs. Blankenship was born July 4, 1921, at Redfield, Arkansas, the daughter of the late William T. and Jessie Wright Thrower.

She was reared and received her education in Redfield and Pine Bluff, graduated from Redfield High School. Upon graduation, she joined the U. S. Navy and served during the World War II era. She married Lawrence Wade Blankenship in 1944, and they moved to Pine Bluff in 1945. He preceded her in death on July 16, 1980. She lived here until she moved to Benton in 1996, to be with her son. Mrs. Blankenship worked as a cook for five (5) years at the Boy's Training School in Pine Bluff before her retirement. Marie was a member of the New Beginnings Church in Pine Bluff.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers and one sister.

Marie is survived by two sons, David (Trixie) Blankenship of Benton, AR and James "Chuck" (Susan) Blankenship of New Caney, TX; three brothers, David (Opal) Thrower, Daniel Thrower both of Pine Bluff and Woodrow (Ruth) Thrower of Waco, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Josie Croft of White Hall, and Mrs. Jean Bond of Pine Bluff; and two grandchildren, Dabney and Wade.

Mr. Blankenship was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Donald Eugene Covington.

Jack L. Blankenship, 76, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, died on Wednesday, June 24, 2009. He was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to his parents, James M and Hazel Blankenship. He lived most of his life in Oklahoma and Arizona and had just moved to Fort Smith, Arkansas recently to be close to family. Jack was a retired postal carrier for the United States Post Office. He served his country in both the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Marines and was in the Marine Reserves.

 Jack leaves behind his loving wife Carolyn of the home and his sister-in-law Judy Tomanka and her husband Rich of Fort Smith. Everyone that knew Jack and Carolyn know he lived his life to the fullest, up to the end. Jack "Did It His Way", and for that he will be remembered and remain dear to us in our hearts and minds.

Cremation will be under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith with Burial of the ashes to be at a later date in Resthaven Cemetery in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Acie Viola Humphrey Blankenship died Monday, Nov. 19, 2007, in a DeQueen AR nursing home. Mrs. Blankenship was born Feb. 10, 1927 in Green's Chapel community in Sevier Co. AR. She was a homemaker, a retired sales clerk and a member of the Memorial Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Blankenship in December 2006.

Survivors include one son and one daughter-in-law, Jimmy Dale and Dollie Blankenship of Horatio; two grand-daughters and grandsons-in-law, Jennifer and Paul Ernest and Kimberly and Heath Leonard of Horatio; two sisters Ruby Stinnett of DeQueen and Pearlie Miles of Redwater TX; five great-grandchildren and a number of other relatives.

Graveside serices will be at 10am Wednesday at the Chapel Hill Cemetery with Rev. J. L. Walker and Rev. Wesley Blankenship officiating under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ruby L. Humphrey Stinnett, age 92, a resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, December 2, 2009 in the Crystal Falls Health Care Center in DeQueen.  She was born in the Greens Chapel Community, Arkansas.  She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in De Queen.  Mrs. Stinnett was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Maggie Woods Humphrey; her husband, Robert Burl Stinnett, six sisters, Annie Manning, Ressie Gibson, Rachel Metcalf, Acie Blankenship, Alleene Bartlett, and Lorene Phillips; one brother, James Humphrey.

Roy Lynn Cockburn, 80, of Harvey died Monday, April 16, 2007, at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock of stomach cancer. He was born Jan. 20, 1927, in Gravelly, Ark. (Yell County) to Charley Quinton and Beulah Cockburn. He worked as a timber contractor at Forrester for Dierks Lumber co. until the mill closed in 1952 and Weyerhaeuser in Springfield, Ore. He spent most of his life as a private timber contractor and his retirement years selling fruit and vegetables in Scott and Yell counties in Arkansas and bordering counties in Oklahoma. Roy thoroughly enjoyed visiting with the many people he met and talked about their friendship. He liked to fish for perch and catfish and take drives down roads in the national forest.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Leonard Cockburn of Springfield, Ore.; a sister, Louise Maxey of Waldron; a son, Glenn Ray Cockburn; and nephews, Bobby Maxey and Richie Cockburn. Survivors include two daughters, Linda and Bobby Mills of Dardanelle, and Trisha Sikes of Danville; two brothers, C.L. Cockburn of Mena and Winston Cockburn of Little Rock; a sister, Corene White of Tulsa, Okla.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Alton B. Webb, 80, of Briggsville, died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005, at the Chambers Memorial Hospital. He was a poultry grower, a timber man and member of the Briggsville Methodist Church.  He was preceded in death by three brothers, Floyd, Eddie and Newton Webb, and two sisters, Ilene James and Johnnie Webb.

Erby Lee Elrod, 62, formerly of Rover, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at Arkansas Health Center in Benton. He was born Dec. 14, 1945, to Jess Lee and Selma Lewis Elrod in Los Angeles, Calif. He worked as a freight handler for Los Angeles Wholesale Institute before moving to Arkansas. He was a Christian from early childhood. He was as active in the Rover Fire Department as his disabilities permitted.

Survivors include an uncle, Bill (Lou Ann) Lewis; three aunts, Pat (Clete) Duffle, Naomi Cornelson and Isabelle Elrod; and several cousins and friends.

Leonard Josh Weaver, 84, of Plainview entered Heaven on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008.
He was born on Feb. 25, 1924, to Charlie and Martha Furr Weaver. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Charles; four brothers; and five sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Pauline Weaver; four daughters and spouses, Helen and Herbert Jones of Hollis, Anna Williams of Hot Springs Village, Meredith and Phillip Young of Plainview, and Barbara and James Westlake of Plainview; 11 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Joe Phillips of Hot Springs; and a host of friends and extended family who will all miss him dearly.

Leonard retired from the timber industry at the age of 62 but his love for the woods brought him out of retirement until the age of 81. He was a true outdoorsman who also loved hunting and fishing, serving the Lord, friends and family were Leonard’s greatest joys in life. He never met a stranger. He was a founding member of the Plainview Jesus Name Church where he enjoyed many hours of singing and praising the Lord with his banjo and guitar.

Funeral will be at 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at Plainview Jesus Name Pentecostal Church with Bro. Stacy Lisenbey officiating. Burial will be in Hawks Cemetery in Hollis. Willard "Chig" Harris, 76, of Dardanelle, died Friday, Feb. 28, at Dardanelle Hospital. Born Aug. 5, 1926, at Casa, he was a son of the late Elmer and Mittie Blankenship Harris. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a retired construction heavy equipment operator and devoted family man. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. His hobbies were his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Billy Joe Harris, and by three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, at the Rover Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Blankenship Family Cemetery in Rover. Pallbearers will be Stephen Blankenship, Donnie Fowler, Jackie Paul Fowler, Todd Blankenship, Jacob Lofland and Toby Tapp. Honorary pallbearers will be W.T. Pugh and Lynn Craves.
