Blankenship, Mary Emma June 6, 1916 - April 3, 2009. Mary ("Snooks") passed away peacefully in Dallas, TX at Doctor's Healthcare Center where she had been living since October 2008. Her son John, daughter-in-law Camille, and granddaughter Julie had spent the day with her before she passed away. She suffered from dementia and congestive heart failure. She was 92 yrs old. She was a special lady with a huge heart! A wonderful wife, mother, and Nana. Mary was daughter of Lady Clara Pocus and Thomas Murray Woodward of Cowan, TN. As a young lady she worked at her father's newspaper the Cannon Courier in Woodbury, TN.

She met John Frank Blankenship Jr. at the University of Tennessee and they later married. They had two children John F. Blankenship III and Randee Blankenship. They also raised Caren, daughter of Randee. They were married for over 60 years.

Dr. John and Mary had many residences, but they lived the majority of their lives in Phoenix. They had a lot of pride in their home on Central Ave, where Mary enjoyed hosting plenty of gatherings. All will remember her annual Christmas party! She loved to fly with John in his private plane to San Diego for the summer where she enjoyed spoiling the kids, walking the beach, and sun bathing. She served Ocean Point Condos well as President of the Board for over ten years. In 1979 she helped the town of Pacific Beach get Ocean Blvd closed and a park with a winding walkway opened. In Phx. she enjoyed volunteering at St. Luke's Hospital, All Saints Episcopal Day School as well as Florence Crittenton where in 1989 she served as a member of the Board of Directors. Mary had a love for plants and gardening and truly had a "green thumb". She was a wonderful cook and completely enjoyed making dinners with her scotch and soda in hand. We will always remember her famous spaghetti dinner. She loved fashion and clothes shopping. She always looked amazing, so well "put together".

She is survived by her son John, daughter in law Camille, daughter Randee, daughter Caren, grandchildren John IV, Julie, Steven, and 3 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, who passed away in 2007. Her death marks the end of an era! She will be greatly missed.

2003, Tucson, Pima Co., AZ, Obituary

The Arizona Daily Star, (Tucson, AZ) - December 24, 2003

Morgan, Tom was born November 30, 1913, at Sunrise, Wyoming to Chester M. and Edith Anna Morgan. After completing high school in Sunrise, he joined Civilian Conservation Corps and worked throughout the west on major dam projects. A semi-pro baseball player, Tom was recruited to attend the University of Wyoming on a baseball scholarship. At UW he discovered that he had greater versatility with a law book than a baseball bat and earned his Juris Doctorate Degree in 1940.

After graduating, he married the love of his live for 62 years, Jean Louise Blankenship , in 1941. He then went to Washington, D.C. for the Department of Justice as a "Trust Buster" for F.D.R. In 1943 he volunteered for the Navy in order to participate personally in the war effort and saw action at the Battle of Okinawa.

After the war, Tom decided to pursue his dream of establishing a private law practice in a small Wyoming town and literally hung his shingle out on the main street of Gillette, Wyoming in 1947. He was the founding partner of the law firm of Morgan & Brorby, which played an important civic and legal role in the northeast Wyoming region for over four decades. During this time several firm members went on to distinguished service in bench, state bar, and government positions in Wyoming. Tom's original partner, Wade became a Justice of the U.S. 10th Circuit Court of Appeals. Tom's son, Dan, left practice to teach law at the University of Wyoming, and in 1981 continued his teaching career at Oklahoma City University School of Law. Tom's distinguished legal career spanned over six decades and included service as Gilette City Attorney, Campbell County Prosecuting Attorney, U.S. Commissioner, U.S. Magistrate, Wyoming State Bar Commissioner and President of the Bar, Wyoming State Bar Examiners, Wyoming Judicial Selection Committee, Board of Trustees, University of Wyoming, and Fellow of the American College of Probate Counsel.

Tom and Jean retired to Tucson, AZ in 1980 and had many wonderful years of friends, family, and golf in the great Southwest. In 1996 they moved to Oklahoma City to be with their son and his wife, Dan and Andrea Morgan.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Jean; Dan and Andrea Morgan and his very specially loved granddaughters and their husbands, Katie and Michael Abboud of Tulsa, and Sarah and John Balbas of Memphis.

Memorial services for Tom were held at 1100 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, Oklahoma City, OK.
