+2020, Excelsior Springs, Clay Co., MO, Obituary
http://hiddenvalleyfuneralhome.com/obituaries/margaret-blankenship/713/
The warm summer
of 1963 was spent joyfully anticipating the birth of our new baby sister, Margaret Ellen, born August 4 to Marvin and Dora Gaddie, and eagerly welcomed by her older siblings, Joyce,
Wendell, Dora June and Steve. She brought lots of love, light and laughter into
our home as we watched her from infancy through toddlerhood and beyond. She
eagerly shared her love for art in the coloring sheets she included in the
letters to her big sister away at college, where they adorned the dorm room
walls. Her love for the outdoors and flowers was manifested in the care she
took of her lawn and landscapes and flower gardens and window boxes. That love
of the outdoors spilled into her home’s interior with the paintings she created
of flowers and rustic outdoor scenes.
While she was
born in Butler, Missouri, she and her parents and brother Steve moved several
times, including Springfield, Missouri, Jacksonville, Florida, and Lamar, Colorado,
before finally settling in Excelsior Springs, Missouri when Margie was a
middle-schooler. A few years later in high school, she met Terry Blankenship who became the love of her life,
and they were married on April 24, 1982. Their three children, Jackie, Brandon and Bradford, were
born into a home of constant creativity. Numerous home renovations, wild and
crazy home-made Halloween costumes, egg coloring with cousins, intricate pencil
drawings posted on the fridge, painted flowerpots, hobo snowmen, just to name a
few. When Margie opened a boutique in downtown Excelsior Springs for a short
time, she couldn’t keep her paintings from flying off the walls as customers
bought them before they were even dry.
Margie was the
hostess extraordinaire. She and Terry hosted many get-togethers at their
spacious home on Old Stagecoach Lane, Memorial Day cookouts, Independence Day
gatherings complete with fireworks (and a few “experiments” that went along
with fireworks), family Christmas parties, and most everyone’s favorite, the
October-fest, complete with bonfire, wiener roasts and marshmallow roasts,
hayrides behind Terry’s Tractor, and pumpkin carving contests that revealed
some truly remarkable talent in the family. Those events grew to include much
more than family as friends and extended family members came to enjoy the
festivities.
Margie had a
quiet faith, having been raised in a Christian home and given her life to Jesus
Christ as Lord and Savior sometime in her early life. She shared her faith with
her family and was consistent at family gatherings to say “grace” before meals.
That was her testimony.
A Facebook Post
by Jackie this week of a “Memory” showed Margie’s expression of joy and
contentment over a productive weekend that included yardwork, housework, spending
time with friends, and enjoying barbeque with family. She ended by saying, “God
is good.” That was her expression of joy in the Lord, even through hard work.
Margie left a
legacy of hard work and family good-times, and those good times don’t stop now,
as her family continues that heritage of sharing love, light and laughter with
one another during birthdays, holidays and made-up holidays. It is unfortunate
that the quarantining restrictions now in place will inhibit the usual get
together of family members to celebrate Margie’s life, but it should be noted
that this too will pass, and sometime in the near future, a Celebration will be
planned to remember her.
She was
preceded in death by her father, mother, brother Wendell, sister Dora June, and
father-in-law Manuel Blankenship.
She is survived
by her children (grandchildren), Jackie and Caleb Stalder; Brandon and Val Blankenship (Leilani); and Bradford and Beth (Tristan, Jonah, Ryker); her mother-in-law Sylvia Blankenship and brother-in-law Stacey; her brother Steve and Michelle Gaddie;
sister Joyce and Chuck Thayer; as well as, nieces and nephews Tiffany and Mike
Bell (Raef); Tarah Ayala; Elisa Thayer (Kendall Patterson); Chuck Thayer, Jr.;
Brittany Collins and Justin Collins.
Margie’s beloved
husband Terry passed away on
November 2, 2010, after battling lung cancer, and she experienced a great
longing to see him again in heaven. Her wish was granted on March
18, 2020, and she is now where she longed to be. “Well
done, Margie, and welcome home.”

His race has been completed; his fight
won. With thankful hearts for a life lived well, the Blankenship’s will gather
to celebrate and say goodbye to a man that left no doubt and lived life with
distinction and honor. Clarence Blankenship (CB) received his promotion into
eternity Thursday evening and obtained the prize he so passionately sought. CB
was surrounded by family as he stepped from this life into the presence of his
Savior.
The second greatest love and passion of
his life was Claire (affectionately BB), the woman he shared 66 years of life
with raising a family and serving others as God opened doors before her death
in 2013.
While a good portion of his 94 years were
spent in various professions from insurance sales to adventures in
self-employment, the later decades of his life were spent serving the Lord as
an associate pastor, counselor, and teacher.
Born in Asheville, NC, Tuesday, December
7, 1926, CB was raised with two sisters, who preceded him in death, served in
the Navy, and ultimately followed BB to Albuquerque, NM, where they lived out
their commitment to each other, to faith, to family and friends, and to a life
of service.

families, that include scores of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and

Dewey Lavon Blankenship, a longtime resident of Catoosa, Oklahoma, passed from this life
on March 5, 2020, at the age of 93. Dewey was born September 17, 1926 in Piedmont,
Oklahoma, the firstborn of sharecroppers James Elijah and Celia (Major) Blankenship.
At an early age, Dewey and his family relocated to an 80 acre tract
of land his father purchased in Rogers County, four miles east of Catoosa,
Oklahoma. Dewey attended school at Lone Star Independent School, graduating
from the 8th grade. In December 1944, at the age of 18, Dewey was inducted into
the United States Army. In a short time, Dewey earned the military
qualification of Expert Rifleman. Following basic training, and with a
fifty-dollar US Savings Bond he had won with his shooting skills on the rifle
range, Dewey returned to Catoosa on leave. At the age of 19, Dewey married his friend and former classmate
Shirley McMillan,
in a ceremony before the Justice of Peace at the Rogers County Courthouse in
Claremore, Oklahoma on June 2, 1945. This union would last over 64 years until
Shirley’s death in 2009.
Dewey would go on to serve as a Private First Class with Company A,
of the 720th Military Police Battalion, serving in the Pacific Theater of
Operations. His Battalion was responsible for carrying out policing operations
in Tokyo, Japan soon after the Japanese surrender. Dewey was Honorably
Discharged in November 1946. Following discharge from the Army, Dewey and
Shirley made their home east of Catoosa following the purchase of a 10-acre
tract of land located on State Highway 33, in Wagoner County, and not far from
where they both grew up, and close to other extended family.
Dewey was employed by The Service Pipeline Company in Tulsa, as a
welder/machinist for many years prior to the company merging with Standard Oil
of Indiana and the ultimate closure of the Tulsa facility. After a short time,
Dewey went to work for American Airlines as a welder. He continued employment
with American Airlines until his retirement in 1982.
Dewey and Shirley’s retirement years were spent traveling with
friends and relatives, often on bus tours to various parts of the United
States. They also enjoyed camping out, fishing, gardening, and square dancing.
Dewey was preceded in death by both his parents, his wife of 64
years, a brother, Kenneth Blankenship and sister

https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/208446623/lora-faye-reynolds
On Tuesday, March 24, 2020 Lora Faye Reynolds went to be with
her Lord and Savior at the age of 91. "Nanny" as most people
affectionately called her, passed away peacefully in her sleep. Faye was born
on January 30, 1929, in Liberty Bottom, Oklahoma. She was 2nd of 5 children
born to Lois (Maw) and Alvin Blankenship.
Nanny attended school in Kemp, Oklahoma.
She met her husband J.W. in Liberty Bottom where they used to work the cotton
fields. They were married on April 24, 1946, and the fire burned bright for 67
years. Faye was the hardest worker you would've ever met. Working from her
youth, all the way up until she was 89 years old, her favorite past time was
taking care of others and always staying on the move. When J.W. asked Faye's
Daddy for her hand in marriage, he jokingly declined "You can't take her!
She's my help!"
Nanny always worked hard and enjoyed the
most out of life. She was a people pleaser who cherished her kids and grandkids
and loved to make others happy.
Faye is preceded in death by her husband
James Weldon Reynolds, mother Lois Smith, Father Alvin Blankenship and son Jimmy
Reynolds, sisters Agnes Juanita Webster, Edna Earl Knickle, and brother
James
Alvin
(Big
Boy) Blankenship. She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Sissy) and husband Sammy Sinor
of Denison, Texas; Sister, Connie and husband George Stubbs of Colbert,
Oklahoma; Her four grandchildren Shawna & husband Tony Baio of Edmond,
Oklahoma, Tina & husband Ronnie Rowland of McKinney, Texas, Jeremy, and
wife Alison Reynolds of Georgetown, Texas and Ashley & husband Jimmy Nolan
of Austin, Texas. Nanny also leaves behind three great-grandchildren, Taylor
Rowland of Richardson, Texas, Ronnie Thorne Rowland of McKinney, Texas, and
Mitchaletty Baio of Wichita Falls, Texas .
Faye always stayed busy. While raising
two kids she still always worked incredibly hard taking care of her family. One
of her memorable jobs was for the Yellow Jacket Boat Company, owned by the
famed cowboy, Roy Rogers. Weldon and Faye worked together at Hardwick-Etter
during the Korean War making mortar shells for the boys overseas, but her most
tenured position was at Levi Strauss where she retired after 21 years. Nanny
worked until age 89 as a caregiver, sometimes to those older and sometimes
younger than she was. Regardless of what stage in life, Nanny loved others and
enjoyed caring for them in whatever way she could.
Nanny could light up a room with her
smile and laugh. She loved dancing and seeing all the great country and western
stars. Nanny and Papa traveled the country, seeing all the greats with her
favorite being Mr. Conway Twitty. Every Saturday night you could find them
watching The Grand Ole Opry and any visit to the house wouldn't be complete
without hearing country tunes playing. Nanny and Papa even traveled to Gilley's
in Pasadena to have a chance at being an extra in Urban Cowboy. She was full of
life, love, passion, and positivity that will live on forever in all of us and
will be missed beyond measure.
