Mary Lee Gardner
Blankenship, 88, passed away July 26, 2021, at her
home in Alpine. She was born in Auburn, AL, to Harmon Austin Gardner, Sr., and Helen Wise Gardner on June 6, 1933. She was the wife of
Van Blankenship for almost 68
years.
After her
mother’s early death, she gained a second mother at the age of eleven, when her
father married Sarah Tomlinson. Mary Lee graduated from Shades Valley High
School and attended Alabama College (now the University of Montevallo) for two
years. Mary Lee and Van together operated Van Blankenship
Photography in Talladega for many years, through
which they helped mark the milestones of many families. She was devoted to her
husband and family. She was a woman of deep faith who served others in numerous
ways, often quietly. She also served as a deacon at First Presbyterian Church.
She was active in Presbyterian Women and Sunday school. She was involved in
professional photographers’ organizations at every level and earned her Master
of Photography and Photographic Craftsman through the Professional
Photographers of America. One of her photographs was featured on the cover of
PPA’s magazine, the first time for a woman photographer. She served as editor
of the Southern Exposure magazine for the Southeastern Photographers Association, she was a member of the Daughters of the
American Revolution (DAR) and Friends of the Library. Her love of growing
flowers and vegetables inspired her to complete the master of gardener
training. Her many interests included cheering on Auburn sports, knitting,
reading voraciously, and caring for numerous pets.
Preceding her
in death were her parent’s, her infant daughter, Julie, and her brother, Harmon Austin Gardner,
Jr.
In addition to
her husband Van, Mrs. Blankenship is survived by her children, Buren and Luanne Blankenship of
Starkville, MS., Sally and Tim Smith
of Talladega, Ted and Angela Blankenship of Naples, FL., and Alec and Lindsay Blankenship of Mobile, AL.; her grandchildren, Kris and Matt Williams, Will
and Laura Smith, Luke Smith, Sarah Caroline, Victoria and Ben
Blankenship and Abigail and
Alexander Blankenship; her great-grandchildren Sarah
Kaitlyn, Corbin Williams and Nora Smith, and her brother, Arthur (Tina) Gardner
of Dothan, AL.
Her funeral
service will be 2:30 pm, Sunday, August 1, 2021, at First Presbyterian Church
in Talladega with the church’s pastor, Leeann Scarbrough
officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Pallbearer’s
will be Luke Smith, Will Smith, Matt Williams, Bert Gardner, Wright Gardner,
and Alexander Blankenship.

Lucille
Blankenship Linn, daughter of the late Riley Blankenship and Augusta Copeland Blankenship, was born August
9, 1937 in Izard County, Arkansas. She
departed this life August 8, 2021 in Melbourne, Arkansas at the age of 83
years, 11 months and 30 days.
She was united
in marriage to Claude Rogers Linn May 21, 1956 and together they raised four
children. Lucille spent her life as a
loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother,
homemaker and friend. In addition to
being a homemaker, Lucille worked at White River Shirt Factory, Baxter Lab and
Pioneer Nursing Home. She was of the Church of Christ faith and a member of
Melbourne Church of Christ.
She was
preceded in death by her parents; one brother: Steve
Blankenship; two sisters: Fern Wheeler and Eva Nell Nugent and one daughter: Toni
Lawrence.
Lucille is
survived by one son and daughter-in-law:
Shane and Billie Linn of Melbourne; two daughters and two
sons-in-law: Sheilla
and Ted Wammack of Melbourne and Rita and David Hoskinds of Newburg; one son-in-law: David Lawrence of Melbourne; nine
grandchildren: Chad Lawerence,

at 9:05 a.m. She was born in Attica on February 7, 1928. She was the daughter
of the late John Andrew and Mary La-Vetia (Grimes)
Blankenship.
Lea lived the
first 31 years of her life in Attica, graduating from Attica High School in
1945. She moved to Columbus & Bedford for a few years before moving to
Veedersburg where she lived for 48 years. She later moved to Des Plaines, IL
and then to Lakewood Ranch, FL where she resided for the last four years.
Lea had worked
for the Myers Department Store in Veedersburg as well as doing office work for
the West Central Farm Bureau COOP in Veedersburg. She was a member of the 1st
Christian Church in Veedersburg. Lea enjoyed genealogy, playing golf and
traveling.
Lea married
John E. Hetrick on September 29, 1945 in Attica. He
preceded her in death on October 18, 2009. She was also preceded in death by a brother,
Reed Blankenship, and a sister,
Mary Alice Aldridge.
Survivors
include a son, John Gregory (Roberta M.) Hetrick, Lakewood Ranch, FL; and a grandson, Steven G. (Niki L.) Hetrick, Thornton, CO.

Michele Louise
Blankenship, 58, of Sedalia, MO passed away Tuesday,
July 20, 2021. She was born on September 12, 1962 in Sedalia, the daughter of
Kenneth and Fae (Knipp) Hays.
Michele spent
most of her early years at the lake and especially liked to fish and go on boat
rides. She liked to go camping with her friends, that she considered family.
Michele treated and cared for everyone like her own family and was considered
to be a "Mom" to many of her employees. She would look forward to
game nights with family and friends and was known as the glue of the family.
She especially loved to "spoil" her grandchildren. In her later
years, she enjoyed gardening and canning, mostly jellies and tomatoes.
On October 16,
1982 at Memorial Baptist Church in Nelson, MO she was united in marriage
to Jeff Blankenship, who survives
of the home.
Besides her
mother, she is preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Alma Blankenship; grandparents, Floyd and Spicie Hays, and Frank and Marjorie Knipp;
and uncles Jim and Rick Knipp.
Michele is
survived by her father, Kenneth Hays (Violet); one son, Kenny Blankenship (Jessica); three grandchildren,
Rylee, Garrett, and Kendal; two sisters, Terri McDermott (Mike) and Amy Staus (Lynn); father-in-law, Randall Blankenship; numerous nieces and nephews; and
all of the little ones she called family; and her business partner Gary Cornine (Honey).

Blankenship, age 61, passed away at his home in
Clinton, MS on Sunday, July 25, 2021. He was born October 27, 1959 in Dallas,
TX to Ottis Farrell Blankenship and Joann Oakey Blankenship.
Kent graduated
from Hattiesburg High School in 1977, and went on to play football at PRCC and
Mississippi College. He later graduated from The University of Southern
Mississippi with an Undergraduate and Master's degree in Accounting.
He lived the
majority of his life in Hattiesburg, MS, where he worked as an insurance agent
for Blue Cross Blue Shield of MS. While in Hattiesburg, Kent
enjoyed many years of coaching his boys and attending any and all sporting
events. Later in life, he moved to Clinton, MS where he worked in the
grocery business.
He was preceded
in death by his father, Ottis Farrell Blankenship.
He is survived
by his three sons, Chase Blankenship (Amanda), Tyler Blankenship (Angela), and Jordan Blankenship, all of
Hattiesburg, MS; grandchildren, Jack, Luke and

7/18/2021 after a short difficult illness.
Barbara grew up
in Charlotte and attended Myers Park High School. She left for an 18 year
career in the US Airforce which took her to postings across the globe. Her work
as a communications engineer continued with Bell South/ AT&T for another 15
years. Over the next few years, she completed a BS in Paralegal Services and
was honored to attend Supreme Court pleadings sponsored by Justice Sotomayor. Barb
was a free spirit and loved music. It could almost be said that she was a
charter member of the storied Double Door Inn (don't do the math) and was
present there for the closing performance of the Federal Bureau of Rock N Roll.
She was
predeceased by her loving and beloved parents, Charles Blankenship and Betty Rose Taylor Blankenship.
She is survived
by her son, Theodore Bernard(Bernie) Blankenship, her brother, Harry(Lou Ann) Blankenship, her sisters

hunting and fishing, and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan. Dean was proud of
his garden and delighted in sharing its harvest with family and friends.
Dean was
preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Azeal, Beatrice, and Josephine, his brother
Boyd, his half-brother Sam, and his
daughter-in-law Mary.
On October 15,
1960, Dean married his beloved Patricia (Price), and raised
three children together, Rob (Sherry) Blankenship, Brenda (Perry) Rice, and Mike
Blankenship. Dean is also survived by his 9
grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Blankenship was born on March 8, 1979 in Norman,
Oklahoma, and passed away on July, 4 2021.
Raised in
Moore, Oklahoma, Curtis attended both Moore and West Moore High Schools. He
went on to earn his B.A. in Journalism from The University of Central Oklahoma.
After graduating from college, Curtis followed in his father’s footsteps and
opened an Energy Services company, Digital Networks, LLC.
Curtis loved
his Sooners, soccer, and golf. As a kid, he was active in soccer and in his
early days playing golf, his first par from the adult tee was on a par three at
Broadmoore Golf course in 1985. He went on to become
a scratch golfer and achieved 2 hole in one’s! He
loved following the Sooners football team and playing golf, particularly trying
to perfect his swing to emulate Fred Couples, his favorite golfer. Curtis lived
for playing golf and watching the Sooner’s with his dad, brother, his children
and friends.

Sylvia Shaffer was born on September 15 1935 in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, daughter of
Dr. Arthur & Martha Shaffer. She passed away on Dec 22, 2016, She was bonded in marriage
to Jan Blankenship on Sept 7
1957. He preceded her in death in 1970.
During their
marriage Mrs. Blankenship attended the Sorbonne, and Alliance, as well as
studied voice, in Paris, France while Mr. Blankenship studied under the
prestigious Fullbright scholarship grant for piano in
1961-1962. They traveled extensively throughout Europe and the United States
while Jan successfully musically performed. She taught Music Education at
University of Central Michigan and performed faculty recitals until welcoming son
Kirk Jan Blankenship on
October 15, 1967. She taught privately from 1967-1970. Sylvia and Jan were
blissfully married for 13 years. Sylvia Shaffer received the coveted George
Eastman Scholarship, and was awarded her Bachelor of Music in 1957, and Masters
of Music Education from Eastman in 1959. She went on to obtain her Master of
Arts in Education from the University of Rochester in 1961. Sylvia was
President of the Lock Haven Music Club, and went on to hold office of Vice
President of the Pennsylvania Federations of Music Clubs. She continued to
teach piano and voice privately, and was an active Church Organist and Choir
Director in Lock Haven.
Sylvia taught
not only music, but she instilled wisdom in her son that he has carried into
adulthood. One that almost cannot be explained but has to be demonstrated;
music is everywhere, it is a part of your soul, and you will always have it
with you.
She is survived
by her son Kirk Jan Blankenship, 49, and daughter-in-law Simone Johanson-Byrd, 46.
Sylvia, we love

family. was born July 15, 1920, in Gasoline, Texas, to
Vaughn and Grace (Ebbs) Chandler.
lived her entire life in Briscoe County. Inetha (Iney, as she was known to
most everyone) married B. K. (Pete) Blankenship on January 13, 1949, in Clovis, New Mexico. They were married for 58
years before Pete passed away in 2007.
Iney was a rural mail carrier for 44 years
and would help Pete on the farm in the afternoons, whether it was driving a
tractor or driving a truck to haul wheat to the elevator. They were avid sports
fans and attended many basketball and football games at both Quitaque and later Valley. In the summer, they enjoyed
watching their nephews, Kenny and Kirby, play softball.
Iney was preceded in death by her parents;
her loving husband, Pete; her son-in-law, Bill Pigg;
and her 13 brothers and sisters.
She is survived
by her daughter, Karol Pigg, of Quitaque;
Ken Chandler and wife Lisa of Gunter, Texas; Kirby and wife Tammy of Frisco,
Texas; Alex, Madison and Lee Jacobs of Dallas, Texas; Karson Chandler of San
Diego California; Cooper Chandler of Frisco, Texas; Josh, Kaci, Jackson, Maddox

Norma Dean
(Blankenship) McLellan was born to Robert W. and Allice York Blankenship on March 1,
1932, in Stamford, TX. She entered the gates of Heaven and eternal salvation on
Friday, June 4, 2021, in Stephenville, TX.
Norma began her
formal education at the New Hope School where she attended through her 8th
grade year and entered Stamford High School for her freshman year. Norma began
her sophomore year at Avoca High School where she met the love of her life, Mr.
Robert McLellan. Robert and Norma were united in marriage on February 15, 1948,
in Anson, TX, with W.K. Horn officiating. Unto this union three children were
born, Jerry Lynn, Larry Keith, and Kathy Janeane.
Norma was a
dedicated Christian, loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. On February 15, 2021, Norma and Robert
celebrated 73 years of marriage. Throughout their marriage they worked together
as a team. In day-to-day life they
crafted, cut, pieced, and sewed several quilts, baby blankets, potholders, and
many other beautiful craft items. Norma
was a talented pianist for over 70 years and blessed several Baptist churches
with her gift of music. Norma also worked outside of the home as an Avon lady
and nurses’ aide. She then furthered her
sales career as a Tupperware lady where she was a sales manager and received
national recognition. She later worked
in retail sales for Hassen’s Department Store for 10
years prior to retiring in 1992.
Norma was
preceded in death by her parents, Robert and
Allice Blankenship, and her three sisters and
brothers-in-law, Fannie and Jack
Butler, Jessie and Lewis Byrd
and Vivian and W.H. Cheek.
Survivors
include her husband of 73 years, Robert McLellan of Stephenville, TX; son and
daughter-in-law, Jerry and Mary Jo McLellan of Canyon Lake, TX; son and

Sister and Daughter devoted to caring for her family and grandchildren. She
loved her flowers, yard, and gardening, spending hours daily maintaining,
decorating and celebrating the seasons. She enjoyed shopping, antiquing,
crafting, and always being on the go with her friends. She loved everything
Elvis and collecting memorabilia. Bettye was a friend to everyone whose
generous heart provided care and support always.

died Friday, August 13, 2021 at Duke University Hospital [Durham, Durham Co., NC]. Born January
29, 1958 in Welch he was the son of the late Clarence William Blankenship and Erma Loretta Waugh Blankenship.
Joey attended Valley View Seventh-day
Adventist Church in Green Valley. He was retired from Jennmar
where he worked as a mining engineer. He was a member of the Masons, Shriners,
Christian Motorcycle Association and the Mining Society of Engineers. Joey
enjoyed riding motorcycles and fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was
preceded in death by one brother, Mark Blankenship; father-in-law
and mother-in-law, Herman and Shirley Cline and brother-in-law, Herman “Buck”
Cline.
Survivors include his wife of
forty-two years, Johnnie Cline Blankenship; siblings, Robert Blankenship of Beckley, Lisa Blankenship of Florida and Mike Blankenship of Florida;
several nieces and nephews and his special canine companion, Cassie.

Blankenship.
