https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/bradenton-fl/rosalinda-blankenship-10461087

Rosalinda Johnson Blankenship, age 65, of Bradenton, Florida passed away peacefully at her home on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 2021. Rosalinda was born January 17, 1956 in Mindanao, Philippines.

A retiree, she spent most of her days playing in her garden. She definitely had a green thumb! She liked to play cards with her grandson, Darius. They played spades or rummy on a daily basis. Darius says that she would come over every day just to beat him in a hand of cards. Then, leave. She was always smiling, laughing, and "cracking jokes". A hopeless romantic but also a realist. Her accent alone was enough to make us all giggle. However, if you got to know her unfiltered personality, you would see why we all loved her so much!! One of the most brutally honest people one could ever meet. She will be missed by so many. Fly High, Grandma Rosa! We miss you so much already.

She is predeceased by her husband, James Blankenship, who passed in 2019. “Jimmy” was buried with his previous wife. Therefore, Rosalinda’s final resting spot will be next to her previous husband “Mr. Claude Clay Johnson, Jr” and father to her three children…Debbie, Claudia, & Joseph. Rosa is also predeceased by her middle child, Claudia Lyn Johnson.

She is survived by her daughter Debbie Woods, son-in-law Cliff Woods, & grandson Darius Woods. Her son Joseph Johnson, daughter-in-law Arlena Johnson, their two children Sadie & Joshua. As well as, her daughter Claudia’s three kids; Tahlia, Alexa, & Jayden Maguda, Grandma Rosa lived for her children & her grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, December 12, 2021 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Manasota Memorial Park, 1221 53rd Ave East, Bradenton, FL 34203.

Dr. Emma Lura (McLaurin) Blankenship born March 17, 1948 in Griffin, GA, the daughter of John Coleman McLaurin and Emma Lura (Lindler) McLaurin. She died November 30, 2021 in McDonough, GA.

Lura attended Sacred Heart Catholic School where she acquired her beautiful handwriting. She graduated from Griffin High School as Valedictorian of her 1966 class. She went on to graduate from the University of Georgia, on a teaching scholarship, in 1971. She earned master's degrees from Georgia State University and Troy State University. In 2004, she earned a PhD in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.

She met her husband Joe in June 1969 in Chicago at her cousin Linda McLaurin's wedding. Joe proposed to her on July 19, 1969 as Neal Armstrong stepped on the moon. They married on December 20, 1969. Lura followed her husband Joe as they moved from Atlanta, GA to Griffin, GA to Monroeville, AL to Dothan, AL to Jackson, GA before finally settling in McDonough, GA in 2006. Along the way she taught elementary through eighth grade students from 1971 to 1985. She was an Assistant Principal at Webb Middle School in Houston County, AL from 1985 through 1997. She pioneered the ESL classes in Butts County Schools until 2009 when she retired from a lifetime of education. After her retirement, she was an adjunct professor at Gordon College until 2011, teaching future teachers. Lura was a Beeson Fellow at Jackson State College, Teacher of the Year in Houston County Schools, and a finalist in the Teacher of the Year in Alabama. During her 40 years of educating young people, Lura has positively affected the lives of thousands of students. It was not unusual to have former students of 30 or 40 years previous to approach her and say, "Do you remember me? You were my favorite teacher." She had a soft spot for the underdog and the underprivileged but helped all her students achieve more than they thought they could. Lura was a "Cradle Catholic" and taught religious education to young people all her adult life. She was a parishioner at Saint James the Apostle Catholic Church in McDonough until her death. She enjoyed sharing the gift of music in the church choir as long as she was able to do so. When she was young, she and her brother Jerry often had to attend two masses at holidays as they sang in the choir at their home church in Griffin and then at the St. James the Apostle mission in McDonough.

https://www.prairiehillsjulesburg.com/obituaries/Shirley-Blankenship-6/#!/Obituary

Shirley Blankenship, 81, of Chappell, passed away October 3, 2021, at the Regional West Medical Center in Oshkosh. She was born June 29, 1940, at Chappell, NE, to Louis and Ahlean Freeman.

Shirley graduated from Chappell High School with the class of 1958 and then moved to Denver to work for a short time. On March 6, 1960, Shirley married Billy Gene Blankenship at Chappell, Nebraska. Their union was blessed with two children, Shirley, and Bill Jr.

Shirley worked at and then managed the Snow King in Chappell before she and her husband started a custom harvesting business in 1968, where they made many lifelong friends. Together they harvested crops for 20 years from Texas to Montana, the last year of which she did with their son Bill after her husband Bill had passed away.

Shirley's life was built upon the pillars of faith and family. She loved to cook and entertain. Nobody left Shirley's house hungry. Though she was a very private person, Shirley was fun-loving and sometimes a little ornery. She brought the very best out of her children and grandchildren and cherished the memories she made with each of them, from sharing a cruise night with her daughter to taking her grandchildren fishing or spinning "cookies" in the parking lot. Whether she was called mom, Gram, or Aunt, she was always bringing fun and joy to those around her.

Shirley loved to read her Bible and to watch Christian TV. If it wasn't faith-based, it was probably the Food Channel or a good cookbook. She loved to make special birthday cakes for members of the family and did so on many occasions. Shirley was also a wonderful caregiver and was called to that ministry on several occasions for her grandmothers, an uncle, and her neighbors. Throughout her life, she always had a smile on her face and a Godly attitude in her heart.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Sr.; son, Bill Jr.; brother, LeRoy Freeman; and her parents.

Surviving her are her daughter; Shirley (Allen) Michel; grandchildren; Keegan Michel, Alicia Blankenship; siblings, Louis (Marge) Freeman, Lois Freeman, Violet Hall; brother-in-law Bob (Marti) Blankenship; sister-in-laws Wanda Speck and Noble Blankenship; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Private family services will be held at the Assembly of God Church in Chappell. Interment will be in the Chappell Cemetery. Prairie Hills Funeral Home of Julesburg.

+2021, La Crosse, LaCrosse Co., WI, Obituary

https://couleecremation.com/barbara-sue-walsh/

Barbara Sue (Blankenship) Walsh, of La Crosse, WI, passed away on January 21, 2021. She had been lovingly cared for at home by her family. She was born in La Crosse on January 7, 1934 to Jim and Agnes Blankenship.

Barb proudly called herself a ‘North sider,’ graduating from Logan High School in 1951. She played clarinet in the band and hung out with friends at her beloved Sweet Shop and Maidrite Cafe. She attended (what is now) WTC and started working at Trane Co. Barb spent many nights dancing at the Avalon Ballroom. She met her future husband Jim at a house party and they married on October 20, 1956 at St. Joseph the Workman Cathedral.

Barb filled her life with raising six children and their many activities. She lovingly sewed most of their clothes, baked countless Spritz cookies, and took joy in playing pranks on all members of the family (think Shamrocks growing from a roof toilet for her Irish husband, or love notes left inside her children’s sandwiches). Barb also enjoyed bowling, woodworking, and playing cards.

She returned to work at Trane Co., then Audio Visual Services, retiring in 1997. During those years, she golfed in a ladies league and returned to knitting that placed Christmas stockings on mantles across the U.S., as well as sweaters and baby layettes. All true works of art. As her 10 grandchildren were born, she was happiest attending their music performances, dance recitals, and athletic events. She especially looked forward to Wisconsin Badger basketball games.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James, and her son Brian.

She is survived by her children Karen Walsh-Ritter (Mark Ritter), Kevin (Joanne) Walsh of Puyallup, WA, Neal (Carol) Walsh of Eleva, WI, Christopher Walsh, Erin (Mike) Grosch; grandchildren Kyle (Samantha) Walsh, Quinn Walsh, Thomas Ritter, Nolan Ritter (Katie Kachel), Isabel Walsh, Ian Grosch, Garrett Grosch, Connor Grosch, Torie Grosch, Sophie Grosch; great grandchild Cecelia Walsh. She is further survived by her brother Milt (Judy) Blankenship, sister-in-law Virginia Walsh, and daughter-in-law Dori Walsh.

Services will be held Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Mary Mother of the Church with Father Konopa.
