https://www.lathanfuneralhome.com/obituary/Hester-Blankenship

Hester Parnell Blankenship, loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, passed away On March 18, 2022, at the age of 82. Hester was born on September 21, 1939, in Sunflower, Alabama to the late Monroe and Nora Howard Parnell.

Hester was the baby of a family of 11 siblings, her being the last of the family to pass. She married the late David Earl Blankenship on March 1, 1958, and was happily married 55 years. They raised two sons, the late David Dewayne Blankenship and Brian Monroe Blankenship.

Hester was dedicated to her church work at Sunflower United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, served as a Sunday school teacher and served on many committees. Hester enjoyed volunteering with the RSVP Program and in 2021 was awarded the Volunteer of the Year Award. Every day she looked forward to going to the Wagarville Nutrition Center where she volunteered and enjoyed the activities. Hester was known by many names, Mom, Aunt Hester, but we preferred Granny. If you ever had the honor of meeting her, you loved her, and she immediately loved you. Her passion for people was only outweighed by her love of a good game of dominoes or cards. She would never lose on purpose, but she was always a gracious winner and never a sore loser; even though she rarely lost. She was a lover of music, books, children and playing Barbies on the floor, anytime her great-granddaughter Eden asked. Her kitchen was always open to family and friends. She will long be remembered for her coconut cakes, pound cakes, and dumplings. Her two granddaughters were taught the fine art of biscuit making and how to make her famous peanut butter pound cake. When you walked into her home you knew that you were loved and welcomed. Her infectious laugh and compassionate spirit filled every room she entered. She will be remembered for loving God above all else, but then loving people so unconditionally that you couldn't help but love her back.

She is survived by her son, Brian Blankenship and his wife Marcia; granddaughters, Lacey and her husband Joe Vitalec and Katie Blankenship; great-granddaughter, Eden Monroe Vitalec; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Overstreet, June Flowers, Nellie Blankenship, Glenda Shelby, Dolly Parnell and Julia Parnell as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be Monday, March 21, 2022, from 1:00 to 2:00 with the service to follow at Sunflower United Methodist Church. Hester's nephew, Bro. Bob Younge, will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews and great-nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Sunflower United Methodist Church.

https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/mcdowellnews/name/james-blankenship-obituary?id=33534584

James "Jimmy" Ray Blankenship, February 25, 2022, Hey Boo. Where are you?

The Doctor said that Dad was doing good, then his heart did a crazy dance, and it stopped. But his family, right there with him, knows what really happened. We watched as Dad saw a glimpse of his "Boo" a few hours earlier. We know that he went looking for her again, in the still of the night. Dad called out, and she answered. This time, he ran toward her. And the one who stole his heart? Boo. My Mom, Carolyn McFarland Blankenship. She held his heart and wore his ring for 44 years here on earth. She was called home way too soon, as well. She's been watching over us all for nine years now.

James Ray Blankenship, 76, was the baby of three boys born to Ray Gilkey Blankenship and Selma Graybeal Blankenship, of Glenwood. Johnny, Dad's oldest brother, lives in St Augustine, Fla., with his wife Mary, (Boggs) and their beautiful family. Both brothers were sad to lose their middle brother Jerry (wife, Rosemary McFadden) just a few years ago.

Dad passed away in the wee hours of Friday, Feb. 25, 2022, in Cayce, SC. He lived with me, his only daughter, Tamara Johnson and my husband, John Paul, on our family property. Dad always looked forward to taking the quick ride up the hill to enjoy a home-cooked meal with my daughter, Brittney Sway and her husband, Jesse. He loved being so close to his great-grandchildren, his youngest girl who turned 12 just days before he passed, and two rambunctious little boys, one of whom bears Dads name and his sparkling eyes. Holidays were his favorite. He never missed one. His favorite times were when the boys walked down the hill and shared a bowl of oatmeal. blueberry. with him for breakfast.

He was a janitor at Glenwood Methodist Church, a bus driver for his Glenwood High School Classmates (class of '63), a Sunoco Station owner, a soldier in Vietnam, a switchman on the railroad that his father laid the track for. Dad was a builder of dreams and several businesses, a giver of nicknames, able to lift the heaviest of spirits and provide a true sense of confidence with one of his sweet crooked smiles. Man, I'm going to miss that smile. But smile we will.

My uncle, Johnny, and I, and our families, welcome Dads family and friends around Marion to join us in celebrating the friendship and good times that were shared with my Daddy. There won't be any long speeches, and there's no reason to wear a tie or shoes that aren't comfortable, dad never like formalities or regrets. Let's gather at Pleasant Gardens Baptist Church Fellowship Hall Thursday evening, March 17, between 4 to 6 p.m., to have a bite to eat and raise a glass of tea to the "Good Times."

+2022, Nashville, Davidson Co., TN, Obituary

https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/name/daniel-blankenship-obituary?id=34101272

Daniel Patrick Blankenship's story began on January 12, 1964 in Atlanta, Georgia as the third child born to Edna and Tom Blankenship. On March 30, 2022, Dan passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Savior-Jesus Christ, and our Dad and Mom who preceded him in death.

Dan traveled the world and our country with our military family, and on his own later in life.

To so many of his friends and co-workers our brother was known as "Big Dan", an understandable and appropriate nickname both due to his size and the impact he had on their lives. You could not encounter Dan and escape hearing his testimony of God's Mercy and Grace in his struggles with addiction. He was well known and loved for his membership and work in Nashville's recovery community and never forgot those people along his journey who ministered to him, and to whom he was able to minister. He delighted to have had the opportunity to lead weekly worship gatherings in the CCA facility where he had once been incarcerated.

Despite the loss of some of his dearest loved ones and friends, Dan's story concluded with what he would readily acknowledge were the best seven years of his life! He savored even the simplest things in life. After a drive in the country on a crisp Fall or Spring day, you'd think he'd won the lottery. Gathering around the dinner table with his extended family surpassed Christmas morning as a child! He loved fishing and panning for gold whether he caught or found a thing! He was always on the watch for opportunities to minister to, or as he'd say "Bless," those in need from his extraordinarily generous heart.

Dan is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Karan and Dwight Gunter; his brother and sister-in-law, Tab and Denette Blankenship; nephews and nieces Ryan (Jody) Blankenship, Jill (Josh) Blankenship-Davis, Lindsay (Jamin) Wentworth, Cory (Shelby) Blankenship, Trae (Katie) Gunter, and Ethan Blankenship; and great nephews and nieces Ben Wentworth, Averie Blankenship, Carter Wentworth, and "Rivers" Gunter.

A time to Celebrate Dan's life has been scheduled for Saturday, April 23rd at Trevecca Community Church, 335 Murfreesboro Pike, Nashville.  A time of visitation will begin at 10:00 am with a brief service at 11:00 am.

Dora Margaret (Blankenship) Hyde Blunt was born September 19, 1933, to Hugh Fredric and Vera Owen Blankenship in southern Taney County, the youngest child and only sister to seven brothers. She departed this life on August 15, 2017, at her home with her family at her side.

Her father, his twin brother Ed, and the Blankenship family moved from Preachersville in Lincoln County, Kentucky to property between Protem and Ocie, MO, in the early 1890s.

She grew up in the hills of Taney County, riding and showing Foxtrotting horses. After graduating from Forsyth High School she moved to Springfield to attend radiology school. In 1955, she married Thomas E. Hyde and moved to Marshfield where she worked at Show Me Power Corporation until starting a family.  She and Tom became parents of three sons, Thomas Keith, Kent Owen, and Justin Knial. In 1974, Tom died in a farm accident, and she returned to working outside the farm. For the next twenty-one years she worked at Ozark Production Credit, the Marshfield Clinic, and on the family farm. When Drs. Tommy MacDonnell and the late Robert Bareis sold the Marshfield Clinic, she continued working for Cox Health. She saw all three of her boys through college and one through law school.

In 1995, she married Leroy Blunt. They spent their time traveling, gardening, enjoying their large family, and hosting friends and relatives who gathered at her home for the 4th of July and Thanksgiving. Leroy and Dora had 21 wonderful years together until his death in 2016.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marshfield from 1955 until her passing, and taught Sunday school for over 20 years, teaching girls through high school, and remained close and dear friends with them through the years. She baked her own bread and gave away a loaf a week for many years. Her joys were her sons, their wives and her wonderful grandchildren. She made friends easily, and never forgot a friendship once forged. She enjoyed good music, good food, and a good Foxtrotting horse.

Preceding her in death were her husbands Thomas Hyde and Leroy Blunt, her parents, her brothers George, John, Paul, James, Simon, Milo, and Rome, and a much loved nephew H.F. Blankenship.

Survivors include sons, Keith Hyde, Marshfield; Kent Hyde and his wife Janice, Springfield;  Justin Hyde and his wife Alexandra, Silver Spring, Md.; Leroy’s sons Roy Blunt and wife Abby, Washington, D.C.; Ron Blunt and wife Dorothy, Los Angeles, Calif., and their families.
