Billy Hugh
Blankenship, Sr., a resident of Abbeville, died early
Thursday morning, September 29, 2022, in a Dothan hospital. He was 83. He was
born [January 10, 1939] and reared in Henry County, near Clopton, son of the
late Fred Blankenship and Jewell Price Blankenship.
He was self-employed
as the President, Owner and Operator of BSB Trucking, Inc. and also Blankenship
Logging, Inc.
Mr. Blankenship
was preceded in death by two sisters, Annette Rogers and Judy Shelley and
two brothers, James Fred Blankenship and Jack Blankenship.
Surviving
relatives include his wife, Sheila Nolan
Blankenship, a daughter, Sherry Robison (Harold), Abbeville; a son,
Bill Blankenship (Stacy),
Abbeville; four grandchildren, Cody Blankenship (Alexa), Cade Blankenship (Anabeth),
Jenna Robison and Zack Robison (Jessica), three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Blankenship, Harper Blankenship and Banks Blankenship, a sister, Martha McCraney (Joe), Louisville, AL; two brothers,

Margaret Lee
Blankenship, 86 [June 8, 1936], of Northport, AL,
passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at her residence.
Margaret
graduated from Tuscaloosa High School in 1954, marrying a newly discharged
sailor a few months later. Their marriage lasted 51 years thru moves from
Tuscaloosa to Chicago to Panama City, FL, then landing in Cottondale, AL, where
she lived for 54 years. Margaret was active in churches throughout her travels.
From church secretary in Panama City to VBS director and Sunday School teacher at Carrolls Creek
Baptist Church. Margaret also enjoyed several years as a member of the
"Red Hat Society". Margaret was a very loving mother, grandmother,
and great grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Margaret was
preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill)
Blankenship, Sr.; daughter, Kathy Davis (Ed); infant son, Walter George Blankenship; and parents, George and Helen Hollar.

Blankenship of Clermont, FL passed from this earth
on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at the age of 91. Doris was the 8th of 10 children born to
Willie and Ethel Hogan of Cave City, KY on April 4, 1931.
Doris was an
avid quilter, card player and basketball fan, cheering wildly for her beloved
Orlando Magic and Kentucky Wildcats. She
was always ready for the next adventure life sent her way. She sewed the names on Mickey Mouse ears at
Le Chapeau on Main Street of the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World for 20
years, retiring in 2007. Doris was a member of the 14th Street Church of Christ
in Leesburg, FL. She was loved by many
and will be missed by all.
Doris is
predeceased by her brothers Jesse, James “Hogie”, and
Turner and her sisters Joy Taylor and Joann Toohey.
Doris is
survived by her brother Arthur in California, her brother Genie and wife
Marilyn in Kentucky, her sister Willie Mae Miller of Saratoga Springs, New
York, her brother Rondal and wife Zona of Kotzebue,
Alaska and numerous nieces and nephews of several generations.

Connie had been
a hairdresser in Kentland for 20 years and court reporter for Circuit Court at
Newton County Court House. Connie enjoyed Bunco Club in Kentland and was an
avid sports fan following Purdue sports and the Chicago Cubs. She also spent
many years watching baseball and basketball while Tater coached several local
teams.
Connie was a
1951 graduate of Goodland High School. Her marriage was to Donald “Tater” Blankenship on May 14,
1952 in Fowler. Tater passed away on March 2, 2007.
Preceding her
in death along with her husband and parents are two sisters, Marilyn and Marcelyn.
Connie is
survived by her two children, Bernie (wife:
Becky) Blankenship of Monticello and Cari
(husband: Roy) Cozart of Kentland; brother, Dean Dorton of Goodland. 4 grandchildren, Casey (husband: Eric)
Blackburn, Jennifer Hoaks, Jamie Hoaks,

faith. His smile was contagious and
would light up the room. He was a
wonderful kid and had a good sense of humor.
Zach loved children and animals.
He enjoyed the outdoors and hunting.
He loved his Savanna. Zach was
the best son anyone could have asked for.
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Barbara Ellen
(Blankenship) Sherwindt, 90,
died peacefully at home, on September 25, 2022 with the love of her life and
husband of 60 years, Carl, by her side. She was born on June 9, 1932 to Preston and Matilda Jane (Estep) Blankenship of Panther Creek, West Virginia. She was the last surviving of her nine
siblings.
Barbara and her
husband left West Virginia in 1978 to come to Maine to continue to fulfill the
purpose she was best at, taking care of her family. Barabara
enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking, spending time with family, going to visit
her family in the South, crafting, farming, and tending to her flowers. Her
nature was to be very giving and you never left her home empty handed.
In addition to
her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her siblings Frances, Dorothy, Margie,
Bill, Jim, Martha Jane, and 2 babies. Also, daughter - Hazel
Marie Stacy, grandchildren - Carl David, Dean, Renee, great grandson - Carter,
sons-in-law Dale and Sam, and grand-daughter-in law Hope.
She is survived
by her husband, Carl Sherwindt, her daughters, Martha
Dotson of West Virginia, Ruth (Al) Weeks of Maine. Along with her children, she
leaves behind six grandchildren Ginger (Rickey) Steele of North Carolina, Juile Dotson, Ricky Dotson, and Sammy (Annette) Dotson all
of West Virginia, Stacey (Cameron) Price, and Charity (Raymond) Mayhew all of
Maine, and grandson-in-law William Roberts of West Virginia. She was blessed
with 18 great grandchildren and ten great great
grandchildren.

Frederick “Freddie”
Blankenship, age 80, of Iberia, passed away on
Thursday, September 1, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born
in the Hickory Point Community near Iberia on August 20, 1942, son of the late Ora Jasper and Mattie Carolyn (Waite) Blankenship.
Freddie had a
strong work ethic and was a dedicated family-man. In addition to being a
life-long farmer, he was employed as the Miller County Treasurer and later
owned and operated a small engine shop in Tuscumbia. After retiring, Freddie
continued staying busy on the farm raising turkey and cattle. He was active in
his community and was a member of the Tuscumbia Lions Club and served as
Charter member for the Miller County Historical Society.
He was devoted
to his faith and was a member of Hickory Point Baptist Church, where he led the
Sunday night prayer service for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed his
many pheasant hunts and elk hunting trips to Montana and Colorado. Freddie’s
son and grandchildren were the joy of his life.
On January 15,
1966, in Jefferson City, Freddie was united in marriage to Diane Hall, who
survives at their home.
He was preceded
in death by his parents, brother, Frank
Blankenship, and sister, Bonnie Barr.
In addition to
his wife, Diane Blankenship, he is also survived by his son, Darin (Lisa) Blankenship; grandson,
Brent (BreeAnn)
Blankenship; granddaughter, Maddie Blankenship; a step-away-grandchildren,
Jeffrey (Kelsay) Ocheskey,
Morgan (Shane) Libbert, and Victoria (Sam) Ocheskey; 12 great-grandchildren, Khambel,

Lord and Savior, surrounded by her loving family, Saturday Sept. 10, 2022, at
her home. She was born Nov. 18, 1926, in Mingo Jct,
OH, daughter of the late Harry Redmond and Alice (Maderia)
Barcus.
She was retired
from the Herald Star Circulation Dept. Mary Alice was a member of the First
United Methodist Church in Toronto.
In addition to
her parents, Mary Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Oris Lee
Blankenship, daughter, Ruth Ann Bell, son, Dale Guy Blankenship, and brother, Harry Barcus.
Mary Alice
leaves behind her son, William L. ‘Bill’ (Cathy)
Blankenship and daughter, Janet (Michael) Groman,
both of Toronto; eleven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and five
great-great- grandchildren.
A private service
will be held Wednesday Sept. 14 at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto
following the visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Rev. Kevin Rinkes
will officiate, and burial will follow in the Island Creek Cemetery in Toronto.

Kenneth Dale
Blankenship, 69, of Sidney passed away Saturday,
September 17, 2022 at 6:13 pm, at Miami Valley Hospital. He was born on October
11, 1952 in Gallipolis, Ohio, the son of the late Rell and Daisy (Harless) Blankenship.
Kenneth was
retired from Ford Motor Company in Lima. He enjoyed fishing and spending time
with his family, especially his grandchildren.

“Susie” Blankenship, age 71, of Nevada, Ohio, passed
away on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at 3:32 am at the Marion General
Hospital, Marion, Ohio. Susie was born on December 22, 1950, in Portsmouth,
Ohio, to Arthur L. and Edith (Nunley) Prince, both of whom are deceased.
Susie worked
for 32 years at Timken Co. in Bucyrus and retired as a Quality Control
Coordinator. She attended the Bucyrus Church of the Nazarene and was a member of
the Bucyrus Moose Lodge #669. Susie enjoyed cooking, reading, traveling, and
reminiscing with family and friends. She will be remembered for her love of her
family, especially her grandchildren.
They were her world and she will be greatly missed.
She was
preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Lonnie, Zulus, Albert,
Charles, James, Donald Sr., and Raymond who died in infancy, and a sister Sarah
Louise VanBuskirk.
She married
Bob Blankenship on October 10,
1970 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio and he survives. She is survived by her son
Matthew (Whitney) Blankenship of Marion.
4 grandchildren, Emily, Madilynn, Hunter, and Hesten. Susie is also survived by a brother Herman
Prince of Nevada, and a sister Dorothy Ard of Nevada.

Blankenship, known by many as Benny or Bud, passed
away Monday evening, September 5, 2022 in Okmulgee at eighty-six years of age.
He was born June 22, 1936 in Okmulgee to the late Emmitt Jessie Blankenship and Ester Lee (Looney) Blankenship.
Benny grew up
in Okmulgee and graduated from Okmulgee High School. He worked for thirty-six
years at Ball Brothers Glass Manufacturing Company as a machine operator before
retiring in 1991. He was a longtime member of the Glass Molders, Pottery,
Plastics and Allied Workers International Union and the Glass Bottle Blowers
Association. Benny loved to hunt, fish and win at
playing dominos.
He was preceded
in death by his parents, a brother, Albert
Blankenship, sisters, Mary Ann Blankenship and Anna Bell Blankenship, and nephews, Michael Neal Blankenship and Benjamin Blankenship.
Survivors
include two sons, Benny Neal Blankenship and Bobby Lee Blankenship, both of Okmulgee, a sister, Betty F. Smith of Beggs, nephews, Jessie Blankenship and wife Debra and Marvin Blankenship, all of Okmulgee and John F.

Mary Louise
Cheek passed on September 28, 2022. She was born February
4, 1957.
She moved to
Tennessee in 1959. She attended Caywood Elementary
and Lexington High School where she met her husband, Terry. She was a
department manager at Wal-Mart for 5 years and department manager at Kroger for
7 years. Mary Lou was known for her vibrant personality. She loved to tell
jokes and laugh and was known to be the “life of the party.”
One of her
favorite pastimes was listening to music. Among some of her favorites were the
Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, and Three Dog Night. She accepted Jesus Christ as her
Savior at a young age, was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church, and is now
forever learning of the glory of God.
She was
proceeded in death by her parents, Linton and Ruth Cheek; step-mother, Martha Cheek; daughter, Morgan Blankenship; grandson, Noah Vega; sister,
Ruth Ann Lindsey; brother, David Cheek; and son-in-law, John Hudson I.
She is survived
by her husband, Terry Blankenship; daughter, Jennifer Blankenship; son, Zack (Jessica) Blankenship;
brother, Jim (Paulette) Cheek; sister, Linda (Stanley) Martin; brother-in-law,

Dorris LaRue
Blankenship, age 95, of Houston, Texas passed away
peacefully on Monday, September 26, 2022 at Memorial Hermann Hospital in
Houston, Texas. She was born in Roaring Springs, Texas October 29, 1926 to
Albert Lee and Lottie Vell Stewart.
In 1944, she
graduated from Roaring Springs High School where she played basketball on the
women's team.
In 1948 she
married Dr. Wayne J. Greer, DDS of Lockney, Texas. After
Wayne died in May 1961, she remained in Lockney to raise her three children,
Joe, Debra, and Tim. There she worked at the Farmer's Co-op as bookkeeper until
1970. The family attended the First United Methodist Church in Lockney.
In May 1970,
she married Herschel Blankenship of Plainview, Texas. They spent
the next 28 years living happily together on Herschel's farm south of
Plainview. Upon Herschel's retirement
from farming, the couple moved to town where they enjoyed socializing with
family and friends and attending church at the First Methodist Church. They were also members of the Plainview
Country Club.
After
Herschel's death in 2009, Dorris moved to Houston,
Texas to be close to her daughter Debra Atchison. Most recently, she was a resident of Legacy
at Falcon Point in Katy, Texas where she once again made warm friendships of
those who lived and worked around her.
Dorris was an avid bridge player and
competed in regional tournaments. She
also enjoyed oil painting and gardening.
Perhaps most of all, she enjoyed hosting gatherings of her extended
family during the holidays.
Dorris Blankenship is survived by daughter Debra Atchison of Houston, Texas, son Tim Greer
of Santa Fe, New Mexico, step-son Gary Blankenship of Dallas, Texas, and step-son Royce
Blankenship of Plainview, Texas. Her oldest son, Joe Neil Greer, died June
1994.

Jacquelyn
McWhorter Blankinship, of Fayetteville, WV, died
Wednesday, September 7, 2022. She was born September 10, 1931, in Charleston,
WV, the older child of James Alesandro and Mary Groff
McWhorter.
She graduated
from Stonewall Jackson High School in 1949 and from West Virginia University in
Morgantown in 1953. In 1953, she married Frank I.
Blankinship. Jr., also of
Charleston, to whom she would be married for nearly 65 years. Upon Frank’s graduation from college, they lived on or near Air Force
bases in Harlingen, TX, Mexico Beach, FL, Cape Cod, MA, and Marietta, GA,
before returning, after his discharge, to their hometown of Charleston. They
lived for a few years in Ft. Pierce, FL, before moving to Fayetteville in 1969,
where they would both live for the rest of their lives. Jackie worked as an
accountant in FL and a teacher in Fayetteville. Through it all, her life was
centered around her family and her faith.
A member of the
Fayetteville Presbyterian Church for 53 years, she served there as Ruling
Elder, Bible Study leader, Youth Fellowship director, and choir member, and was
involved in special efforts such as the Prayer Shawl ministry and the Gabriel
Project. She had a great love of travel and brought back treasures from
adventures on five continents. She had a deep love for the land and people of
Israel, where she traveled and led tours, often with the help of her
travel-agent daughter, Beth, for over 30 years. She combined her love of family
and travel through “trailer trips” and international adventures with each of
her grandchildren, culminating in a trip for Mamaw
and all five grandchildren in Israel. She was a poet, a designer, a yarn,
fabric, and graphic artist, an event planner, a lover of sun and water, and a
beachcomber.
Holidays were
often over-the-top events anticipated by the whole family when planned and
executed by Mom/Mamaw/Gigi. She will be greatly
missed by her family, and by friends across the
country and around the world.
Jackie was
preceded in death by her husband, Frank, and her younger brother, James Alesandro “Bo”
McWhorter, Jr.
She is survived

Hazel T.
Blankenship, 88, of Jolo,
WV, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2022, at her home in Jolo. She was born January 30, 1934 in Paynesville, WV a
daughter of the late Tom and Mazy Rife Thornsbury.
Hazel has 13
years of service with the McDowell County Public School System. She was a
member of the Pine Grove Church of Christ for 35 years and was a loving wife,
mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, and
aunt.
In addition to
her parents Hazel was preceded in death by, her loving husband of 65
years, Reverend Glenn E. Blankenship; a son-in-law, Larry J. Kelly; six sisters, Rosie Blankenship, Sue Stacy, Ocie
Shelton, Ida Osborne, Ella Sandal, and Bell Stacy; six brothers, Doug Thornsbury, Hibbert Thornsbury, Junior Thornsbury,
Clyde Thornsbury, Ezra Thornsbury,
and Willard Thornsbury; and a great granddaughter,
Lindsey Blankenship.
Survivors
include four children, Johnny Blankenship and wife Sarah of Jolo, Betty Kelly and fiance
Elza Mullins of Jolo, Cathy Kelly and husband Jimmy of Jolo, Glen Jr. Blankenship and wife Donna of Yawkey, WV, nine grandchildren,
Ella Kelly, Mary Dobbs and husband Jerry, Melissa Kennedy and husband Mark,
Jimmy Kelly and wife Kendra, Bradley Blankenship and wife Jessica, Leslie Kelly and wife Valerie, Jessy Hamrick and
husband Grayson, Megan Bowdish and husband Brandon
and Aaron Blankenship; great
grandchildren, Chelsey, Kaitlyn Cline and husband Corey, Daniel, Bryce, Lillie,
Lexie, Noah, Parker, Jake, Alyssa, Michael, Gabrriel,
Evelyn, Miles, Magdalyn, Brittany, and Paige; a
great-great grandchild on the way, Mazy Mae; a special brother-in-law, Junior
Osborne; four sisters, Vinnie Miessau, Geraldine
Evans, Tessie Dellacroce, and Maxine Skinner and one
brother Hobert Thornsbury;
and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral
services will be conducted Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at 12 o’clock, with
Pastor Randall Dority and Pastor Charles Vance
officiating at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger,
WV. Burial will follow in the Beulah Land Cemetery on Rock Ridge near
Paynesville, WV. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, great grandsons, and
Roy Payne. Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell Payne and Gordon Mullins

Toney
Blankenship, 76 of Baisden,
WV, departed this life on September 26, 2022 from Logan Regional Medical
Center. Born September 4, 1946, Toney was the son of the John and Rethea (Cline) Blankenship.
Toney was a
disabled Coal Miner who enjoyed squirrel hunting, ginsenging,
watching football and Nascar
races. He loved spending time with family, especially his great-grandchildren.
In addition to
his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife: Wilma Blankenship; and his brother: Billy Blankenship.
Those left to
cherish his memory are his sons: Toney (Michelle)
Blankenship Jr., and Rocky
Blankenship; granddaughter Nikita (Wes Smith) Blankenship; grandson:
Josh (Kaitlyn Adams) Blankenship; his 5 great-grandchildren: Benson Smith, Lennox Smith, Ember Blankenship, Adalyn
Blankenship, and Delani Blankenship; brothers: Homer Blankenship, Enos Blankenship, and Glenous Blankenship; sisters: Catherine Christian and Addie May, a
host of nieces and nephews; and a very special companion, his dog Smoke, whom
he loved very much.
Funeral
services will be at 1 pm, on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at the Mounts Funeral
Home Chapel at Gilbert, WV, with the Pastor Jonas “Joe Peck” Trent
officiating. Burial will follow at the Blankenship Cemetery at Baisden,
WV.
