In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Dean Blankenship; two brothers, Steve Wigner and John Husband; and a step-grandson, Mason.

She is survived by four sons, Jason Blankenship of Alma, Jirad Blankenship and wife Whitney of Mountainburg, Jeff Blankenship and wife Crystal of Van Buren, and Jamie Blankenship and wife Caitlyn of Alma; a stepdaughter, Rachel Mercer and husband Jason of Wichita, Kan.; a sister, Anita Wigner of Osage City, Kan.; two brothers, Frank Wigner of Seattle, and Bob Husband of Andale, Kan.; six grandchildren, Zane, Daxton, Madison, Luke, Bryson, and Kylie; two step-grandchildren, Ryan and Doug; and three step-great-grandchildren.

Ralph William Blankenship, age 93, of Paragould passed away on December 25, 2022, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. Ralph was born on March 19, 1929, to the late William Earl Blankenship and Carrie Odell Swindle in Sedalia, Missouri.

Ralph was one of Jehovah's Witnesses. He had been sharing his faith with others since he was ten years old. He volunteered on Kingdom Hall construction projects in Arkansas. He farmed and worked at Emerson Electric as a foreman. In the mid-1960s he started his own business, Tri State Distributing and Manufacturing Company, where he worked until his retirement. He enjoyed Bible study, gardening and spending time with friends and family.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Dimple Bowen; beloved son, Alfred Blankenship of Briceville, TN, his stepdaughter, Beverly Reynolds of Searcy, AR; 5 brothers, and 2 sisters.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Oredia (Peggy) Blankenship; children, Timothy (Crystal) Blankenship, Lowell (Rebecca) Blankenship, Deanna (Robert) Pepper, Alan (Patricia) Blankenship, and stepdaughter, Linda Britton of North Carolina; 4 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter,1 step great granddaughter, and one brother, Jephthah Blankenship of Beech Grove.

Shirley Faye Blankenship Weaver, daughter of the late Commie E. Blankenship and Elmar Haynes Blankenship, was born August 29, 1938 in Knob Creek, Arkansas. She departed this life December 29, 2022 in Batesville, Arkansas at the age of 84 years and 4 months. 

She was a 1956 graduate of Melbourne High School. She was united in marriage to Vohn Doyle Weaver on October 15, 1956 in Bonetown, and together they raised one son.  Shirley spent her life as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, homemaker, and friend.  Most of her working years were spent cooking at the Melbourne School in the lunchroom, retiring after 30 years of employment.  She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Melbourne First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers:  Thomas Blankenship, Jack Blankenship, Roland Blankenship, and R. J. Blankenship; and two sisters:  Eunice Sartin and Bethel Rush.

Shirley is survived by one son and daughter-in-law:  Terry and Amy Weaver of Fayetteville; three grandchildren:  Brandi Weaver of Dallas, Texas, Kristin Weaver and Luke Weaver of Fayetteville; one great grandson:  Dawson Leslie of Fayetteville; four sisters-in-law:  Sue Blankenship of Batesville, Sharron Weaver of Violet Hill, Melba Blankenship of Melbourne, and Julia Fagg of East Wenatchee, Washington, and a host of other relatives and many good friends. 

Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, January 3 at Eddie’s Family Funeral Home in Melbourne, with Rick Burke officiating.  Burial will follow at Melbourne Cemetery. Pallbearers:  Tim Blankenship, Brent Weaver, Tristan Weaver, Kendall Stroud, Cody Stroud and Ty Stroud.

Robert Alan Blankenship October 23, 1957 - December 21, 2022. It is with a sad heart I share the passing of my brother Bob. He was born in South Dakota and passed in Kansas City, Kansas which was home for most of his life.

He is preceded by all his grandparents, father, and stepfather as well as an Aunt and Uncle.

He is survived by his son Keith Blankenship, his brothers Andy, Michael, Stuart and Bryan, his sister Toni and his mother Beverly Ann Clark and stepmom Linda. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, Aunts and Uncles, cousins and extended family who will all miss him very much and his memory will live on through all who knew him.

Dale Dee Blankenship, 92, of Sullivan, MO passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at Missouri Baptist Hospital – Sullivan. He was born on August 20, 1930 in Sullivan, MO to Harvey Lee and Mabel (Mesger) Blankenship.

He honorably served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Marines from January 15, 1952 to December 23, 1953, Semper Fidelis! Dale remained a true patriot throughout his life and was a lifetime member of the Sullivan VFW Post 3987. Dale was a hard worker and was employed as a truck driver, first by W.H. Powell in Sullivan, and later for Andrew Schaffer Lumber in St. Louis. He retired in 1975. Dale loved old cars and trucks. His 1952 Chevy was a favorite. He also loved Mustangs and Harley-Davidson Motorcycles. Dale never met a stranger and would talk to anyone. He especially liked to eat out with family and friends. Dale adored his family, especially the grandkids and great-grandkids. He was a wonderful Dad, grandpa and great-grandpa and will be forever in the hearts of all who knew him. Dale would always say his goodbye with, “I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck”.

Dale was preceded in death by one son, Russell Blankenship; one daughter, Vickie Bizzle; one sister in infancy and three other siblings: June Lawrence, Dwayne Blankenship and his wife, Virginia, and Jewell Blankenship; and one daughter-in-law, Rosemary Blankenship.

Dale is survived by one of his children, Michael Blankenship and wife Diane of Bourbon, MO; one brother, Darrell Blankenship of St. Louis, MO; one sister, JoAnn Craig and husband Darrell of Fort Myers, FL; grandchildren: Kevin Hansel, Kelly Hansel, and Melissa Martin; two great-grandchildren, Kelsie Hansel and Kevin Hansel II; along with many more grandkids and great-great-grandkids; his best friend, Glenn Hecht; nieces, nephews, other extended relatives and friends.

Gatha May Blankenship “May,” 82 years old, daughter, of Oliver Morton Shepherd and Lucy Ann (Holden) Shepherd.  May was born on May 3, 1940, in her home near Montauk, MO. She passed away at her home in Licking, MO, on December 23, 2022.

May grew up in the Licking/Montauk area where she met and married Fredrick Blankenship on July 18, 1959.  They remained together until Fredrick passed earlier this year.  They had one son, the light of their lives, Bradley. 

May worked at Rawlings Sporting Goods for many years.  When she retired, she lived a simple life with Fred, making quilts, collecting dolls and what-nots.  She enjoyed making doll clothes and fixing them up like new.  Many family members treasure the quilts given to them by May. 

Fred and May’s door was always open with a cup of coffee and good conversations inside.  May was a good family historian and never forgot special dates and birthdays.  She glowed when her grandchildren were around, she read to them, and taught them poems, and told them stories.  She also loved to tell other stories about them, always with pride.

May enjoyed her time with her siblings and their families.  She believed family ties should be strong and hers were.  She loved you all very much.  In the end, May was lost without Fred at her side and missed him dearly.  May was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.  She was loved by all and will be missed by those who loved her. 

May was preceded in death by her loving husband, Fredrick Blankenship; her parents, Oliver and Lucy; three sisters, Ruby Walker, Faye Trolinger, and Goldie Fielder; four brothers, George Shepherd, James Henry Shepherd, Edward Shepherd, and Bob Shepherd.

Heaven opened up to welcome Betty Anne Kincaid Blankenship, age 82 of Lenoir who passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at Catawba Valley Medical Center.  She was born July 25, 1940 in Caldwell County to the late Daniel Herndon Kincaid and Medrana Clark Kincaid. 

She was a member of Flemings Chapel Baptist Church where she was known for baking cakes for anyone who needed a friend.  She served in many capacities of the church including Clerk to the church for 30 years.  Betty loved singing in the choir and would fill in as pianist.

Betty’s working career began in the office of Broyhill Furniture Company.  She then began serving Caldwell County for 32 years as secretary to Dr. Marjorie Strawn at the Health Department and later began the position of Clerk to the Board of Caldwell County.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Valerie Jean Philyaw; and one brother Herndon Elmer Kincaid.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 62 years, Harold Lee Blankenship, faithful son, Teryl Lee Blankenship and wife Sharon; one brother, Danny Kincaid and wife Adrian; two sisters, Janet Pritchard and husband David and Peggy Joan Hendrix and husband Junior; three nephews, Charles Philyaw, Bryon Kincaid, and Eric Kincaid; six nieces, Sherry Setzer, Emily Nichols, Amy Bolick, Jalyn Stanley, Wendi Duckworth, and Karissa Enfinger; special grand nieces and nephews, Karson, Hollyn, Kolt, Hadley, and Beckett.

Allen W. Blankinship, 91, of Hendersonville, NC (formerly from Concord MA, and Lady Lakes FL) passed away surrounded by his family on December 3, 2022. Al was born on June 30 1931 in Belmont, MA to Arthur and Lila Blankinship.

After high school, he attended Norwich University in Northfield, VT and graduated with the class of 1954 as a Civil Engineer. Soon after graduation, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army and sent off to Ft Belvoir, VA where he mastered the art of flying Bell H-13 helicopters and the de Havilland Beavers and Otters. His flying skills earned him time abroad in the Middle East putting his map making skills to use.

While Al was stationed at the Stockton, CA Army Airfield, he met his soon to be wife Sandra Wright (Avey). Al and Sandy had 3 children Michael, Kelly, and Susan. The Blankinship family had many adventures while living in Woodland, CA including trips to the Sierra Nevada to play in the snow, building foxholes in the backyard and raising ducks.

The family moved to Bedford and then Acton, MA where the kids finished high school. Al and Sandy enjoyed watching the kids participate in various sports including figure skating, softball, gymnastics, basketball, ice and field hockey and even brought them to Mt. Watatic and Mt. Sunapee to teach them the finer points of skiing and where to get the best hot chocolate. The family enjoyed many fun camping trips including to the coast of Maine, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia. As an avid runner, Al's endurance was legendary as he completed dozens of 10K races and 4 marathons. An active Appalachian Mountain Club member, Al was fond of trips up to Mt. Washington and Tuckerman's Ravine and built and repaired dozens of trails throughout the AMC trial system. Al loved to golf and a hole-in-one at the Stow Away Country Club on his 60th birthday proved his smooth swing was legit. Al's vast interests also included cooking, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and he volunteered for many years for the Little Brothers - Friends of the Elderly.

After a long and successful career in both the public and private sectors as a construction project manager, Al retired from the Bank of Boston (now Bank of America) in 1996. Shortly after, he relocated to Florida and embarked on adventures galore that took him to many fine Florida golf courses, to Europe and across the US. He combined his favorite forms of travel, his bike, and his VW Vanagon, to crisscross the US from the Rockies and across the Continental Divide, up and down the Withlacoochee Trail, and many points in between.

Al is survived by his daughter Susan Marshall of Braintree, MA), daughter Kelly Shawley of Hendersonville, NC (husband Jim), and son Michael in CA (wife Meg).

A private service was held at the Bushnell National cemetery in Bushnell Florida on January 13, 2023.

Wanda Faye Blankenship, 59 [1963], of Bryson City went home to be with the Lord Saturday, December 17, 2022. A longtime resident of Bryson City.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Johnny (JP) Parton; parents, Guy and Dorothy Hollifield Blankenship and one brother, Larry Blankenship.

She is survived by her sons, Matthew Hampton and wife Brittany of Cherokee, and Chad Case and wife Alicia of Whittier; daughter, Kristin Parton, son Stephen Parton, and daughter Karen Parton (Tyler) all of Bryson City, and son, Richard Parton and wife Kellie of Asheville; 13 grandchildren; three sisters, Peggy Case and husband Eddie of Central, SC, Linda Mullins and husband Terry of Spartanburg, SC, and Louise Seagle of Bryson City; brothers, Ronnie Blankenship and wife Marie of Union SC, and Gary Blankenship and wife Arlene of Robbinsville, NC.

Phillip was a member of Prices Creek Union Church for 47 years. He retired from CSX Railroad after 36 years of service (1966-2002). He enjoyed woodworking, mechanics, antique cars, his home, and spending time with friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floy and Rena Scott Blankenship, and two brothers, Gar and Earl Blankenship.

Surviving is his loving wife of 57 years, Vadith Buchanan Blankenship; son, Grant Blankenship and wife, Sharon; daughter, April Briggs and husband, Nicholas; two grandchildren: Landrea and Adriana Briggs, all of Burnsville; and a brother, Perry Lee Blankenship of Jupiter.

He worked as a Software Developer for NASA. He was a graduate of Cloverleaf High School, Akron University, and a veteran of the U.S. Army, 82nd Airborne, an avid Miami Hurricanes football fan, and concert goer. Jamie loved to play guitar and cherished the time he spent with his children.

Jamie will be dearly missed by Mande, his loving spouse of 17 years; loving children Kylar, Kellen, and Kaisley; siblings: Terry Lee (Dina), Bryan (Jessica); parents: Terry and Peggy Blankenship; Son in Law: Ron (Cyndi) Scott, brothers-in-law: Derrik (Kelly) Nyomo, Ronnie Scott, Jeremey (Jeana) Nyomo. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school, working in the nursery and with missions. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, crocheting, working puzzles and watching westerns. She will be dearly missed.

Mrs. Blankenship loved her church and was a faithful member of Third Baptist Church and retired from the Aerospace Department at MTSU. Mrs. Blankenship was a wonderful mother, loving wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was an avid sports fan of the Braves, Tennessee Titans, and MTSU. She lived her life to raise four children who loved God and raised strong Christian families. Our family had a strong bond that was nurtured by both of our parents. We were lucky enough to have this incredible woman leading our family with classy, strong, and unconditional love. Always waiting with open arms. The earth is a little less sweet.

Mrs. Blankenship was also preceded in death by her husband Robert E. Blankenship and a brother James F. Kidwell.

Royce grew up and attended schools in Plainview.  He served in the Army National Guard for several years.  Royce began farming at a young age along the side of his father and continued farming for over 50 years before retiring.  He married Donna Evans on December 11, 1962 in Plainview.  They loved to travel with their Scottie dogs in their RV and traveled all over the United States and parts of Canada.

Royce was preceded in death by a sister, Joann Carpenter.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Blankenship of Plainview; three daughters, Kim Skrtic and husband Gregory of Falls Church, Virginia, Cindy Szenttronyay and husband Imre of Lubbock, Claire Buchanan and husband Scott of Plainview; one brother, Gary Blankenship and wife Cynthia of Grapevine; seven grandchildren, one great grandchild with another one on the way.

She was fun-loving with an enormous heart.  There were many occasions when Wendy would go without to help complete strangers.  She loved her motorcycles and driving fast down a deserted road.  Wendy had a special place in her heart for her family, and her dogs Walter and Nugget, whom she loved dearly.  Our lives will not be the same with the loss of our dear mother, daughter, sister and friend.

Wendy was preceded in death by her grandparents, James Kelly “Bud” Blankenship, Jr. and Stella “Irene” Blankenship, Rebecca Normandin, David Normandin, step father, Richard Fleming and a very special uncle, John “Greg” Blankenship.

“Sandy” as all of her family and friends called her was a life resident of Paige in Buchanan County and Richlands, Tazewell County, Virginia. Sandy was a very happy, bubbly, feisty, sometimes stubborn lady. Who always had a smile when you saw her. She loved to shop, dress up, spend time with friends, going dancing, eating out, cooking, she truly enjoyed everything she did. She had many friends and family who she loved and loved her dearly. She will be missed tremendously. Sandy would do anything she could for anyone. She truly had a heart of gold. But the person she loved most was her son, Charles Franklin Lester of Richlands, VA, her late husband and love of her life, Larry Douglas Blankenship and her beloved pets. Sandy loved all animals and was known to go all around the communities to feed hungry strays, she wanted to feed them all. Her dog Max was her favorite long-time companion. Sandy was one of a kind, a great mother, daughter, granddaughter, wife, sister, friend, and bonus Grandma. She will never be forgotten by those who knew her.

In addition to her husband and parents, Sandra was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Nancy Taylor Hess and Charles Russell Hess.

Hazel Elizabeth Blankenship, 67, of Huntington, WV, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2022 at home. She was born February 8, 1955, in Melrose, FL, a daughter of the late William and Edna Roberson. 

Preceding her in death was her husband loving Autho Blankenship; her son Jason Blankenship; and three brothers, Marshall, Dale, and Billy Roberson.

Haxel was a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church.

                Survivors include four children, Hamilton (Noel) Blankenship of Corpus Christi, Fla., A.J. (Annie) Blankenship of Waco, Tex., Dana Carnes (Roger Woosley) of Kentucky, and Edna (Anthony) Nicely, also of Huntington; 16 grandchildren Eric Blankenship, Logan Blankenship, Paisley Blankenship, all of Corpus Christi, Emily (Steven) Saucedo, Aaron Blankenship, Savannah Blankenship, Tater Blankenship, Kaiden Blankenship, all of Waco, Robert (Tammy) Blankenship, Cody Carnes, Randy Woosley, all of Kentucky, David Trosper of Ft. Gay, , Hannah Trosper, Megan Blankenship, and Eric Maynard, all of Huntington; 11 great grandchildren; one brother Buster (Gamble) Roberson of Palatka, Fla.; lifelong friend Carol Miller Carlisle of Gainesville, Fla., and Kitty of Ohio.

                Memorial service will be conducted at 3 pm, on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Brother Jay Ross officiating.

Dr. Joseph Chester Blankenship born December 7, 1952 passed away surrounded by family on December 8, 2022.

Joseph started out as a milk man's assistant when he was young and ended his working life by being awarded the title of Professor Emeritus At Fairmont State University where he taught classes both graduate and undergraduate programs. Joe held multiple advanced degrees including a Doctorate of Information Systems from Robert Morris University.

Joseph loved his life and never turned down an opportunity to take on a challenge like volunteer firefighting or traveling around the world or working 3rd shift so that he could earn his first bachelor degree during the day. He lived happily with his wife and best friend Judy for 49 years. Joseph was fiercely proud of his children and in turn his grandchildren. His family was his priority, and he made sure no one ever went without anything they needed or wanted even if it cost him his own comfort.

He is preceded in death by his parents Franklin E. Blankenship and Virginia (Beatty) Blankenship formerly of Chester, WV.

Joseph is survived by his loving wife Judy A. (Coleman) Blankenship of Fairmont, WV as well as his three daughters Stacy (Joey) Commodore of Fairmont, WV, Melissa (Ryan) Lowther of Fairmont, WV, and Dawn (Jason Gross) Blankenship of Raleigh, NC. He leaves behind four grandchildren: RyLee Lowther, Jackson Lowther, Reese Commodore, and J. Bryson Commodore. He is also survived by his three brothers Frank (Fonda) Blankenship, Harry (Vickie) Blankenship, and Mike (Linda) Blankenship as well as many nieces and nephews.

Joseph's favorite holiday was Christmas, so as Clarence the Angel in It's a Wonderful Life says, "'Strange isn't it? Each man's life touches so many other lives. And when he isn't around, he leaves an awful hole, doesn't he?'" He will be greatly missed.

Nellie Blankenship, of Stanaford, passed away December 24, 2022. She was born on February 19, 1935 to Lydia (Ramey) and Jesse Hunt in Kemper, Kentucky.

Nellie was married to Glen E. Blankenship for over 70 years. As a devoted couple, Nellie and Glen enjoyed their time together, spending countless hours swinging in the gazebo or holding hands while watching their favorite television shows. Many evenings were spent playing dominoes or cards with their close friends from the church and neighborhood.

In addition to being a loving wife, Nellie was a caring mother of three, Glen E. Blankenship Jr. (Deana) of Baton Rouge, LA, Paul Blankenship (Kim) of Mount Dora, FL, and Michelle Blankenship Leonard (Bruce) of Mullens, WV. She had seven grandchildren, Kristi (Sean), Holly (Brian), Alyssa, Michael (Denise), Aoibheall (William), Terri (Jason), and Candace (Dewayne). She had sixteen great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at Stanaford Missionary Baptist Church, located at 123 Hoist Road, Stanaford, WV 25927 on Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 12:00 - 1:00 pm, with a short graveside ceremony following at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, 5251 Robert C Byrd Drive, Beckley, WV 25801.
