Thomas Jerry Blankenship (aka: Tom Cat, Sparky, Big Daddy) (68) was born on May 8, 1954 in Lexington, TN. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 6, 2023 in Birmingham, AL surrounded by his family.

Thomas began his career at 12 years old at Doc’s Dairy Bar, this kick started a 56-year career as a self-made man. Thomas was a brick mason by trade while becoming owner of his own mason business, twice. He was an owner of a concrete pumping business and later while loving his collection of quarters started building and owning several car washes throughout Tennessee. In addition to coin collecting, Thomas loved collecting old cars. He lived life doing things he loved most. He enjoyed traveling – especially to Cabo where he has said that was Paradise on Earth. His love for motorcycles, and spending as much time as possible with all his grandchildren which is truly what he loved most. In 1982

Thomas met the love of his life, Kelli Alice in Dallas, TX. Together they have raised 6 beautiful children. Jeremy (Luchita), Jason (Samantha), April Harrod (David), Jerid (Leah), Megan Blankenship, and Jereme Tubbs (Stephanie) while being married for 40 years.

Thomas is proceeded in death by his father, Belton and mother, Marie Blankenship. Brothers Rex and Guy Blankenship.

He is survived by his sister, Carolyn Maness (Tim), 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at Sand Ridge Baptist Church at 1:00pm on Friday, May 12, 2023, his burial will be directly following at Lexington Cemetery.

Daniel Bert Boone Blankenship, a resident of Brighton and a longtime resident of Fort Meyers, FL, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2023. He was 84 years old. He was born on May 18, 1939, in a log cabin in Kentucky, the second child of the late Bert and Betty Blankenship.

Daniel met the late Patricia while she was working as a waitress. They married in January of 1960 and went on to spend 58 years together until her passing in 2018. They raised their family of four children in Brighton, while Daniel was working as a Hi-Lo driver at the Wixom Ford Plant. Upon their retirement, they moved to Fort Myers and enjoyed twenty years on the beach together. Daniel had a love of music and playing his guitar. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Patricia; and his brother, Elmer Blankenship.

He is survived by his sons, Robert (Sue), Daniel, and Adam (Melissa); daughter, Debbie (Larry) Kolnitys; grandchildren, Matthew Blankenship, Rachel Blankenship, Jarred Blankenship, Meaghan Blankenship, Adam Kolnitys, Samantha Kolnitys, Anna Kolnitys, and Nathan Blankenship; and 2 great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 600 E. Main St., Brighton on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Noon. Burial of ashes to follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Robert Blankenship, resident of Morriston, Florida passed away on Monday, May 1, 2023 at the Williston Care Center. He was 86 years old. He was born to parents Gloster and Nannie Blankenship on August 29, 1936 in Mc Dowell, West Virginia.

Robert was a long distance truck driver for many years. He enjoyed piddling in his workshop, woodworking and building all kinds of furniture. Sometimes, Robert would hunt and fish, but he really enjoyed traveling with his wife, Emma. Together they traveled 49 states and their favorite place to visit became the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Gloster and Nannie, sons, Bugs, Denny and Allen, sisters, Ruth Howell, Hazel Shaw and his dear fur baby, Peanut.

He is survived by his loving wife, Emma.

Ms. Sharon Beth Blankenship, age 78, of Rome, passed away peacefully at her residence and went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. She was born in Rome, Georgia on July 29, 1944, daughter of the late Bernice Reece Blankenship and the late Melvin H. Blankenship.

Ms. Blankenship graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Berry College in 1969. She earned a Master of Education degree from West Georgia College in 1977 and a Specialist in Education degree from West Georgia College in 1983.

Ms. Blankenship was employed by the Gordon County School District until her retirement in 2000. She was also a lifelong member of New Life Church of God in Rome. Throughout her life, Ms. Blankenship enjoyed attending church services and events, as well as playing the piano, which she would often do during church services until the pain in her hands from early onset osteoarthritis became too great.

She was an avid seamstress, especially during her younger years, and also enjoyed several crafts including needlework, cross stitching, crocheting, painting, latch rug making and small wood inlay projects. She truly loved cats, including her own, and for many years she has donated money to several agencies involved with feline health and feline rescues. Ms. Blankenship has also donated money for a number of years to organizations involved with causes dear to her heart such as assistance for U.S. veterans, especially wounded soldiers.

Survivors include a brother, Donnie Waymond Blankenship and his wife Betty from Evans, Georgia; a nephew, Will Blankenship from Evans, GA, and a special friend and caregiver, Dawn Treglown.

Graveside Service will be held at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at 11:00AM. Good Shepherd Funeral Home.

Stephen Warren "Blanky" Blankenship, 87, of Washington, passed away at 5:20am Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. He was born February 24, 1936 in Peoria to the late James Robert and Mildred Sawyer Blankenship.

Steve was a proud veteran, serving in the Air National Guard and later enlisting in the US Army, serving in Germany. He worked 37 years at Caterpillar as a millwright, retiring in 1992. He was a servant leader and mentor, whether he was coaching youth sports, leading Scouts, or serving in the church. He enjoyed golf, bowling, and spending time with his family.

Steve married Joyce Darlene Deckard on September 24, 1955 in Peoria; she survives. Also surviving are their sons, Stephen (Deron) Blankenship, Jr. of Bremen, GA, Christopher (Julia) Blankenship of Wedowee, AL, and Eric (Amy) Blankenship of Washington; grandchildren, Jessica (Jason) Pritchard, Kathleen (Devin) Rader, Michelle Martin, Sarah Thompson, Paige (Mike) Theobald, Ashli (Jeremy) Turner, Daniel Blankenship, Brett Wood, Rachel Blankenship, and Rebecca Blankenship; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; his sister, Janet Koch of East Peoria; and his nieces and nephews.

He was a lifelong resident of Topeka, Kansas. He was able to graduate from Highland Park High School in 1966. He worked at Santa Fe, Allis-Chalmers, Farmland Foods, and retired from Payless Shoes Distribution Center in 2009. He took pride in being a hard worker.

In his younger days he enjoyed playing the drums. He was always into muscle cars and owned many in his lifetime. His favorite was Mopars. He took the saying Mopar or no car to heart. He really enjoyed driving his 1973 Plymouth Barracuda around town. He also enjoyed listening to music. His favorite band was Deep Purple. He had a big CD and vinyl collection. He was also a big fan of the Kansas Jayhawks basketball.

Jerry was preceded in death by both of his parents.

He is survived by his sister Tammy Blankenship, son Rick Blankenship, daughter Trisha Breese, and a few grandchildren.

He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. As per Jerry’s request, no funeral or memorial services will be held.

Jimmy attended Boyd County High School but was a graduate of South Point, OH. Jimmy served his country proudly in the United States Army and during his time in service he earned the Army Service Ribbon and Sharp Shooting Badge. He was full of love for his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. Jimmy loved country music and traveling to Tennessee. He also took pride in his work. He made a living as a certified diesel mechanic. Jimmy had a kind soul, and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his mother, Jimmy is survived by his two devoted daughters; Larisa (Brandon) Blankenship of Ashland, KY, and Jennifer Blankenship of Winston-Salem, NC; one precious grandchild Colton Blankenship; one brother Thomas (Amy) Blankenship one niece Celeste (Mo) Hawke of Huntington, WV.

Jimmy always felt that family was what you made it and he had special people in his life that he always considered family. Three special children he considered grandchildren; Katie, Willow, and Kendon; and Allison, of whom he considered a daughter. Also surviving is his partner Lisa Hester and many extended family members and friends.

Jessie Kathleen Sergent Blankenship died on May 29, 2023 at the age of 77. Jessie was born to Jess and Thelma Sergent in Gauley Bridge, West Virginia in 1946.

Jessie spent her last days at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, where her healthcare team took great care of her. The Pinnacle Hospice Team stepped in this past weekend and did their very best to make her comfortable and at peace with her diagnosis. The family wishes to extend their appreciation for all who provided such good care and support during this time. While there were a number of physical conditions that contributed to her passing, her broken heart from leaving her beloved "Little Man" behind certainly weighed the most on her in her final days.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Billy Blankenship, her sister Ruth Crenshaw of Texas, her brothers John David Sergent and Jack Sergent of West Virginia, and her beloved four-legged companion, a chihuahua named Booger Bear.

She is survived by her sister, biggest protector, and harshest critic Joan Meadows (Joe); her closest nephew, childhood partner in crime, and confidant Jerry Woodson (Linda); nephew, Wayne; her caretaker and niece Angela Whittaker (Mika); nieces Sara, Debbie, and Jacqueline; nephews Johnny, Joe, Jeff, and Carl; numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews, and the joy of her life, a chihuahua she called Little Man.

Terry Wayne Blankinship, 88, of Raleigh, NC went to his heavenly home on May 19. He passed away peacefully at Falls River Assisted Living in Raleigh after a brave battle with dementia. Born May 14, 1935, in Lynchburg, VA,

He attended EC Glass High School and went on to attend NC State University earning a degree in Civil Engineering while serving in the US Army Reserve. Married to his high school sweetheart, Nora Jane Blankinship for 63 years, they met as teenagers in Lynchburg, VA, and moved to Raleigh in 1960 while starting a family.

His early career in Raleigh led him to become the owner of Cast-A-Stone Concrete Company, before starting his own company in 1978 named Benchmark Construction as a General Contractor. He ultimately transitioned toward a family business proudly working alongside his sons at Legacy Construction until he retired. Terry was well respected throughout his career in the construction business. He was actively involved in Urban Ministries of Wake County, Rotary Club of Raleigh, Millbrook Methodist Church, while continually meeting with his Bible Study group over the years.

A dedicated NC State Wolfpack fan and season ticket holder, Terry enjoyed many tailgate gatherings with his family and friends over the years. He was also an avid runner, skier and golfer. He was a regular tennis player at Raleigh Racquet Club and made many lifelong friends. Our annual trips to North Carolina beaches were always a special time for Pop Pop, where he would watch his family bond and grow together.

We will always remember his generosity, thoughtfulness, kindness, humor, being a man of God, and how much he loved his family first and foremost. We will forever have a place in our hearts reserved for Papa T.

Terry was preceded in death by his mother, Lera Blankinship of Lynchburg.

He leaves behind his wife, Nora Jane Blankinship; Daughter - Laura Blankinship Henry and her husband David Henry of Raleigh; Son - Mark Blankinship and his wife Wendy of Raleigh, Daughter - Leigh Pierce and her husband Steve Pierce of Richmond; son - Matt Blankinship and his wife Wendy of Raleigh. Blankenship, of Beavercreek, OH, formerly of Houston, TX, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2023, at The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute in Columbus, Ohio, after a courageous three-year battle with cancer. He was born on October 5, 1964, to Janice and Harold Blankenship, who both predeceased him.

He was also preceded in death by his much adored step-father, Ted Frey.

Thomas, affectionately known as Tom, is survived by his beloved son, Kenny Vaughan (and his wife Liz) of Columbus, OH, and their two children, Maddox and Hayden; and his daughter, Jessica (Paul) Duvall, and her daughter, Skylar Rubash, his sister, Angie Blankenship Pina (wife of Dr. Desiderio Pina) of Beavercreek, OH; his sister, Karen Adams of Columbus, OH; He also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews: Christy Mayberry, Sheri Adkins, Jamie Bell, Brooke Bragdon, Bethany Schmidberger, Gregory Pina, Michael Pina, John Pina, and Daniel Pina.

They loved to hear the Uncle Tom stories that his sister Angie loved to tell. Tom was known for his vivacious spirit and quick wit. A gifted talker, he was often the life of the party, filling rooms with laughter and warmth. His favorite phrase, "Of course I know how to do that, I've been doing that for years!" was a testament to his skills as a handyman and contractor, a profession in which he took great pride. His boisterous personality was matched by his big heart; always ready to defend the honor of those he loved and help in any way he could. His sharp tongue, loud laugh, and quick temper were part of his charm, making him a memorable figure in the lives of all who knew him. Tom's life was a testament to his spirit: bold, passionate, and fiercely energetic.

In accordance with his wishes, Tom will be cremated. A celebration of life service will be held at his son's home on Saturday, June 17th from 2-6 PM.

Doris enjoyed reading, fishing, and doing puzzles. Doris was an inspector at a factory where she retired.

Doris is survived by two sons, Rick (Patti) Blankenship of Kasilof, Alaska, and Jerry (Patricia) Blankenship of Zanesville, one daughter, Cindy (William) Smith of Cambridge, eight grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her Church family where she was known as “Mama B”.

Karlyn Reese Blankenship passed away peacefully on May 29, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was born on May 14, 2016, the beloved daughter of Danny and Chrystal Blankenship.

Reese was diagnosed with DIPG, a terminal brain cancer, on May 29th, 2019. During her 4 year fight she showed us what the true definition of strength is. Reese was happiest when she was listening to music-clapping and singing along, swinging, and playing with family and friends. She has touched so many of our lives and will always live on in our hearts. We will continue to see her in the rainbows.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Danny Ray and Carolyn Blankenship.

Along with her parents, Reese is also survived by her brothers Jared Rayburn and EJ Blankenship; grandparents, Bill (Laura) Donnell and Debbie Donnell; aunt and uncle, Karen (Mark) Sanson; her cousins Madison, Landyn, and Zoe; extended family, Shannon (Izzy) Turner, Aubry Turner, Heather Turner, Drake Haley, Keisha Rodriguez, Raquel Scott and Randy Scott; along with many other family and friends.

Larry graduated from Ringling High School and then attended Murray State College and Oklahoma State University. Larry married Sherian Barnes on August 17, 1972, in Ardmore, OK and the two spent more than 50 years together.

Larry owned and operated LB Auction Co. along with his family for over 40 years. He took a lot of pride in preparing every auction for every client. Larry was very active with all the area 4-H clubs, FFA chapters, Volunteer Fire Departments, and premium sales and donated his time and auction skills to their fundraisers while expecting nothing in return. He loved assisting kids in preparing livestock animals for shows and loved attending the shows. Larry was an active member of The United Methodist Church in Courtney. One of Larry’s favorite things to do was taking road trips with his wife, even when the destination was unknown.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents and a great-granddaughter, Lynlee Roberts.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Sherian Blankenship of the home; sons, Larry Don Blankenship and wife Gina of Courtney and Kerry Blankenship of Courtney; grandchildren, Justin Blankenship of Marietta, Paige Roberts and husband Austin of Marietta and Taryn Blankenship of Courtney; great-grandchildren, Taden, Kason, and Beau; sister, Jacqueline Grant of Courtney; numerous nieces, nephews, along with many other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, May 22, 2023, in the First Baptist Church in Marietta with Mike Johnston officiating. Michael was a maintenance technician with Rawden Joint Ventures, Lititz, for the past 13 years. He also owned and operated Blankenship Communication and Contracting. Michael was a 1979 graduate of Kenwood High School, Baltimore, and loved his pond and koi fish, riding motorcycle, going to the beach and traveling.

Along with his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his daughter, Christine Blankenship, and his brother, Randall Blankenship.

Michael is survived by his fiancée, Tracy L. Nigrelli, Shillington, his two daughters, Megan A. (Blankenship) Hepler, Ashland, and Erin L. (Blankenship) Cohick, wife of Larry P. Mr. Blankenship served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War and then retiring with over 20 years in the US Army with one tour in Vietnam. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing as well as spending time with his family. Mr. Blankenship was a member of Cross Hill First Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Blankenship was preceded in death by one son, Ed Blankenship; brothers, Autis, Demp, Dencil, Ernest, James, Gerald, David, and Ralph Blankenship; and sisters, Gladys Hensley, Opal Blankenship and Jean Church.

On December 7, 1964, at the Methodist Church in Corbin, Kansas, Dixie married Lary Blankinship and together they made precious memories for 39 years before Lary's passing in 2004.

After getting married, Dixie worked at the Wellington Hospital Clinic before moving to the Wellington Junior High where she was a secretary for many years. Upon retiring from the Junior High, she served on the school board and enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family and friends, reading, watching movies, eating out with friends, and attending church. Dixie was a long time resident of Wellington, KS before moving to Amarillo, TX in 2017 when Alzheimer's made it too hard to live on her own. Dixie adored her parents, especially her father.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Fern Maninger, husband Lary Blankinship, daughter, Cheri Lynn Wagle, and sister, Patricia Morgan.

A retired coal miner, he had formerly been employed by Pittston Coal Company for twenty-five years and was a member of the UMWA. He enjoyed working with horses and was talented craftsman.

Leona Jean Blankenship Church, 88, known as Jean, resident of Maysel went home to be with the Lord on,  Saturday, May 19, 2023, at Clay Health Care Center [Ivydale, C.ay Co., WV]. Born February 19, 1935, in Dundon, WV, she was the only daughter of the late Giles D. and Sobina Mullins Blankenship.

Jean was the widow of Omer Lewis “Junior” Church. She lived in Clay County her whole life. Caring for her flowers and digging for ramps were her favorite hobbies. She also enjoyed cooking and baking along with crocheting and tatting. She loved to camp, hunt and fish, and passed on her love of the outdoors to her sons. She was a faithful member of Maysel Missionary Baptist Church since 1958. Her church and church family were a very important part of her life.

In addition to her husband and parents, Jean was preceded in death by brothers Ernest, Charles, James, Gerald, David, and Ralph Blankenship; and half-brothers Autis, Demp, and Dencil Blankenship and half-sister Gladys Hensley.

Surviving are two sons, Harvey Robert Church with his wife Robin of Ovapa and Danny Lewis Church with his wife Theresa of New Market, MD; five grandchildren, Justin Church with his wife Catherine of Walton, KY, Jesseca Church of Quaker Hill, CT, Jeana Donahue with her husband Jonathan of Hilton Head, SC, Andrew Church of Gaithersburg, MD, and Matthew Church of New Market, MD.

Funeral services will be held at 12 pm on Monday, May 22, at Maysel Missionary Baptist Church   with Rev. James Hamrick officiating. Burial will be held afterward at the Blankenship Memorial Family Cemetery.

Betty Lena Miller Blankenship, 92 of Princeton died Monday, May 22, 2023 at Princeton Community Hospital. Born January 24, 1931 in Bluefield, WV she was the daughter of the late William Denver Miller and Lena Honaker Miller.

Betty was a graduate of Welch High School and worked in the auto parts industry in sales for thirty-five years. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Princeton serving as a former Deaconess and on several church committees.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Blankenship; two brothers, William "Bill" Miller and James R. Miller; and three sisters, Margaret M. Moore, Mary M. Sizemore, and Jean M. Weyd.

Survivors include one stepson, Scott Blankenship of Midlothian, VA; three step grandchildren, Chris, Ryan, and Mark; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Friday, May 26, 2023 at Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Reverend Steve Janning officiating. Burial will follow at Monte Vista Park Cemetery in Green Valley. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
