Florence G. Blankenship 79, (Thursday, May 4, 1944 - Friday, December 15, 2023) (Flo, Sis, Sissy, Flo#2) was a lifetime Bronx resident. She survived several cancers but this last one, although she made it through the chemo and radiation, the immunotherapy just couldn’t finish the cure this time.

Flo first lived in the Throggs Neck area and then in the Pelham Bay area.

She was very devoted to her family and her faith and was a significant presence in all our lives. She somehow had a 6th sense and knew when someone needed to hear from her, whether by phone, email or a little surprise gift (from Amazon). When it was her turn to cook she would always say she didn’t know where the kitchen was and then picked up the phone to order pizza (her favorite food after spaghetti). Her favorite movie was “Gone with the Wind” and her favorite opera was “Madame Butterfly”.

She was pre-deceased by her twin brother Joe (spouse of Sharon) and survived by her sisters Pat, Linda and Robin (spouse David) and her brother Paul (spouse Donna).

Flo was an Aunt to Denise and Heather (spouse Eric); Michael (spouse Shelly), Kristi, Alex and Haley; Paul Michael and Michelle; and a Great Aunt to Maegan, Taylor and Aubrey; Madison and Avery; Peyton and Austin. There are numerous cousins whom she loved but too many to list.
