+2009, Panama City, Bay Co., FL, Obituary

News-Courier, 11/1 - 11/2, 2009

On Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, William Franklin "Frank" Blankenship, 69, of Panama City, Fla., lost his battle with lung cancer. He fought his fight with love, laughter and a twinkle in his eye until the end. The angels came and took our beloved son, husband and grandpa to be with the Lord. Frank served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He was an industrial electrician and worked for Alabama Electric, Brown and Root at Stone Container Co. and Williams Electric and Bay Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his father, Private William Chester Blankenship and his stepfather, Homer C. Pack Sr.

He is survived by his mother, Mildred Blankenship Pack of Athens; his wife of 21 years, Yvonne Blankenship; four children, Yolanda Granger and husband Butch, Elaine Button and husband Jan, and Sandy Roberts and husband David, all of Panama City, and John Whaley of Gainesville, Fla.; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a special cousin, Doris McGuire and husband Arvid of Athens.

Memorials services for Mr. Blankenship were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, at Southerland Family Funeral Home in Panama City with Gary Brackett officiating.

This is a poem written in Frank's honor by his granddaughter, Amber N. Ivey:

For Frank,

My Dear Papa Oct. 9, 2009, marked a day I won't forget,

for on this day my precious Papa's soul to be with Lord was sent.

I'll remember all the good things like riding on his knee,

or adding personality to his birthday cake when I was only three.

He was an amazingly strong person, the man was warm and caring and good,

who had more love for his family than one heart possibly could.

Always kind to his children and grandkids, a loving husband to his wife,

this beautiful man who gave my Grandma the best years of his life.

He was there for me in my times of need, he helped me believe I could go far,

told me if I just keep reaching one day he knew I'd touch the stars.

Loved my many he'll always be, his memory will never cease,

goodbye, my precious Papa, may you forever rest in peace.

2007, Jacksonville, Duval Co., FL, Obituary

http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/timesunion/obituary.aspx?n=betty-jane-patterson&pid=86591223

Betty Jane Patterson passed away with dignity and grace, like she lived her life, on February 23, 2007. She was born July 2, 1915 in Chicago, Illinois and moved to Jacksonville, FL in 1996, where she lived at Cypress Village.

She had an amazing sense of humor, zest for life and incredible ability to make everyone she encountered feel truly privileged to have known her.

She is predeceased by her husband, John W. Patterson and her beloved friend and companion Chester Rudnicki.

She leaves behind her two daughters, Virginia M. Christie (Walter) and Georgia L. Carroll (Joseph), her two granddaughters, Melissa L. Neighbors and Melinda S. Blankenship (Kenny), and three grandsons, Nicholas Neighbors, Logan and Lucas Blankenship, and her precious granddog Libby.

She was extremely fortunate to have the loving care of Melanie Domani, to whom the family owes a great debt of gratitude. She was a wonderful individual who continually surprised those around her, up until her last days, with her creativity, sense of humor, and loving spirit. Her most exciting moment was flying to London on the Concorde and returning home on the QE II. She loved her “hand and foot” card group and always strived to bring home the prize.

A private memorial is planned for the family.
