BUHL, Aug. 29—A 47-year-old Buhl woman died early Saturday
of injuries incurred when she was struck by her own car, although she was not
believed injured seriously and didn't seek medical attention.
Mrs. James Strawser died at at her home about 8 am. Her husband told Sheriff James H.
Benham she complained about feeling bad when she awakened, but died before he
could summon a doctor. County Coroner Claude Wiley said an autopsy showed Mrs. Strawser died of internal hemorrhaging.
Benham said Mrs. Strawser
apparently left her car in gear when she returned from a drive about 11 p.m.
Friday. When she got out, the car started rolling backward. She tried to get
back in the car to stop it, but was knocked to the ground by the door and
dragged about seven feet by the left front wheel. She was freed by her husband
who had been driving another car. The accident will not be counted as a traffic
fatality because it occurred on private property.
Mrs. Strawser was born Sept. 23,
1916, at Hollister and had lived at Buhl most of her life. She was graduated
from Buhl high school in 1934. She was married to James D. Strawser
on May 23, 1940, at Ely and had been employed at the Buhl branch of Idaho First
National bank since 1948.
Surviving besides her husband, are a step-daughter, Mrs.
Nancy Jo Barron, Virginia; her mother, Mrs. Eulah Blankenship, Buhl; a sister, Mrs. Milton Rutledge,
Arco, and a brother, James Robert Blankenship, San Leandro, Calif.
Her father, T. D. Blankenship, died Sept. 24, 1955.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm, Wednesday at
Buhl First Baptist church by the Rev. Robert F. Burchell.
Final rites are set at Buhl cemetery.
