Youth Worried Over Auto Case Ends Life
James Blankenship,
19, of 1473 Carmen av., was found shot to death yesterday morning in the
bedroom of his home, apparently a suicide, police said. He was found by his
uncle, Isaac, 38, with whom he lived. A revolver was
found nearby with a note. The elder Blankenship told
police that the youth was despondent over money matters and a recent traffic
ticket for drunken driving.

FARMER IN BARN KILLS MAN
Dalton City, Ill., Oct. 20 (AP) -- Roger Blankenship 19, Decatur was shot and killed by a farmer early today. His
companion David T. Snyder, 20, of Decatur was charged with attempted theft. The
farmer Carl E. Thompson, 46, told deputy sheriffs his farm had been the scene
of robberies and thefts of farm tools and gasoline. He said he hid in a barn
and waited and the two youths approached an outdoor gasoline storage tank
breaking the lock. Thompson said he called to them and Blankenship ran. Thompson shot him with a revolver and apprehended
Snyder.
