There seems to be a lot of people from IA, It is possible the census taking/transcribing replaced N with A.

“On your 1850 Time Line, there is a note about so many of them being from "Iowa". You may be aware of this, but the early, official abbreviation for Indiana was "Ia", until Iowa became a state and even later than the 1850s in some parts of Indiana. This has caused some confusion among casual researchers who usually assume their people were born in Iowa and moved to Indiana. Later, some may have later, but not in the 1850s & 1860s.”
