Services for Nell Hudson Blankenship of Alexandria will be at 2 p.m., Monday, April 23, 2007 in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria with Reverends David Boothe and Carl Hudson officiating. Burial will be in Alexandria Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Blankenship, 80, was born in Pascagoula, Mississippi having spent most of her life in Alexandria. She was a longtime active member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was retired from the Central Office of Rapides Parish School Board. She went home to be with the Lord Friday, April 20, 2007.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Blankenship; her parents, Lilly Henricksen and Thomas W. Hudson of Pascagoula, Mississippi.

Her surviving loved ones include two daughters, Deborah Mulkey Neal and husband, William of Winnsboro, Linda Mulkey Pepper and husband, Leonard of Monroe; sons, Madison Mulkey and wife, Melissa of Baton Rouge, George R. Blankenship and wife Betty of Austin, Texas. Also, grandchildren, Fran Lewis and Brad of Madison, Mississippi, Amy Munger and Vijay of Durham, North Carolina, Kimberly Cooper and John of Mooresville, Indiana, Turner Neal, III of Winnsboro, Madison Mulkey, Jr. and Jackson Mulkey of Baton Rouge, Heather Mulkey and Wade Mulkey of Sulpfur, Spence Pepper of Madison, Mississippi. Also surviving Mrs. Blankenship, her sister, Laura Hudson Stebbins of Ocala, Florida; brothers, Thomas W. Hudson, Jr. and wife Mary of Chapel Hill, North Carolina and Rev. Carl A. W. B. (Bill) Blankenship, 80, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2005 at his residence in Shreveport, LA after a lengthy illness. He was born December 5, 1924 in Palo Pimto, TX to W.C. and Sarah K. Blankenship.

Mr. Blankenship was a member of Central Christian Church and of the Masonic Lodge.

Mr. Blankenship was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert T. Blankenship; sister, Mary K. Henderson; and brother, Thomas F. Blankenship.

Mr. Blankenship in survived by his devoted and loving wife of sixty-one years, Dorothy Blankenship; son, William L. Blankenship; sister, Ann Joyce Roberts, and several nieces.

Funeral services will be held at Central Christian Church with Masonic Rites, Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be Reverend David Carter. Internment will follow in Forest Park Cemetery, Meriwehter Road.

Nancy Lea Ball, 69, of Sulphur, La., formerly of Hewett, Boone County, passed away Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, in St. Patrick’s Hospital, Lake Charles, La. Born June 7, 1940, in Hewett, she was the daughter of Ardith Ball of Hewett and the late Myrtle Aleshire Ball. In addition to her mother, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Ball.

Nancy graduated from Scott High School, Madison, where she was crowned Miss Skyhawk in 1959. She was an employee of Westmoreland Coal Company for 18 years and enjoyed cooking and entertaining family and friends. She was a joy to be around and was loved by everyone.

In addition to her father, she is survived by her longtime companion and best friend, Edward Butterkoffer of Sulphur, La.; sons, Steve Ball and his wife, Amy, of Madison, Ind., and Curtis Ball and companion, Leandra, of Madison, Ind.; the love of her life, Grandson, Jesse; brother, Edward “Bud” Ball and wife, Joyce, of Hewett; sisters, Betty Franklin and husband, Dale, of Burlington, Colo., and Iva Blankenship and companion, Jim Ball, of Aurora, Colo.; nieces and nephews; and many friends. She was loved by all.

Funeral services were held on Dec. 6 at Stevens Funeral Home, Madison, with the Rev. Roger McCauley officiating. Burial followed at the Jim Ball Cemetery, near Ottawa.

Mr. Stutson was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Daisy Stutson; three brothers; and four sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Stutson of Harrisonburg; two daughters, Charlotte Stutson Aarons of Harrisonburg and Dorothy Stutson Tiser of Sicily Island; four sisters, Mamie Stutson Barron of Sicily Island, Veva Stutson Buswell of Jonesville, Levy Stutson Prudomme of Jena and Octavia Stutson King of Camden, Ark.; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Tiser was a retired riverboat captain. Mr. Tiser was preceded in death by his mother, Laura White Tiser.

Survivors include his wife, Rosa Lea Tiser of Jonesville; one son, John W. Myrtle Margaret Fontenot Blankenship, born in Whitehall on June 7, 1934, resided in Baton Rouge for numerous years and returned in 1969 to reside in Whitehall, where she passed away at 6:35 p.m. Monday, July 31, 2006, from complications of lung cancer. She was a member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Whitehall.

She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Francis Glenn Blankenship Sr.; daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and Wayne Moore, Sebrea and Tommy Hulin, and Angela "Angie" and Chris Billiot; two sons and a daughter-in-law, James "Jimmy" and Colleen Blankenship and Pernell "Mike" Blankenship; 24 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Ellis and Elsie Fontenot; sister, Delores Bazile; sister-in-law, Billie Ann Taylor; brothers-in-law, Jack Blankenship and wife Connie, and George Blankenship and wife Verl; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Francis Glenn "Butch" Blankenship Jr.; infant brother, Nelson Fontenot; parents, Numa and Ozea Dupuy Fontenot; and brothers-in-law, John Bazile and Jerry Taylor.

Visitation at St. Stephen's Church, Whitehall, on Thursday from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Monsignor Gerald LeFebvre officiating. Burial in Whitehall Community Cemetery. James "Jimmy" Blankenship; A member of Insulators Local 53, Jimmy passed away Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009, in Ferriday, from cardiac arrest at 49.

Jimmy lived with the love of his life, Melba Tate. He was a native of Whitehall. Jimmy is also survived by his sons, Jeremy W. and wife Michelle Blankenship, and USMC Lance Cpl. Trent W. Blankenship. He proudly celebrated the birth of his granddaughter, Peyton Eliza Blankenship, on Aug. 28, 2009. Survived by his dad, Francis Glenn Blankenship Sr. and wife Lizabeth Cotton Blankenship; sisters and husbands, Darlene Moore and Wayne, Sebrea Hulin and Tommy, and Angie Billiot and Chris; brother, Pernell "Mike" Blankenship; and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was also survived by Melba's sons, David and Daniel Tate.

Preceded in death by his mother, Myrtle Blankenship; brother, Francis Glenn Blankenship Jr.; grandparents, Numa and Ozea Fontenot and Bessie and Bill Blankenship; and aunts and uncles.

Pallbearers will be family and friends. Jimmy was proud of his family and extended family. Jimmy also loved working all over the United States, meeting new friends and seeing the country.

A funeral service will be held at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Whitehall, on Saturday, Sept. 19. at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Whitehall Community Cemetery.

Esther Milligan Thibodeaux, 87, a native of Winfield, Tenn., and a resident of Raceland, died at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2001. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery in Raceland.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Herman Milligan; her second husband, Norman Thibodeaux; her parents, Jarvis and Ellen Blankenship Chitwood; one brother, Hank Chitwood; and three sisters, Gladys and Nellie Chitwood and Delora Smith. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary No. 349 in Raceland and a member of the Baptist faith.
