Charles B. Carroll of West Chatham, a retired Boston lawyer, died Wednesday of injuries suffered in an automobile accident in Sarasota, Fla., his winter home. He was 74.

After serving in the Navy as a lieutenant aboard a submarine net tender in the South Pacific during World War II, Mr. Carroll spent nearly 10 years with the Boston law firm of Ropes & Gray, specializing in real estate transactions and probate cases. He and his father, James E. Carroll, went into law practice together as Carroll and Carroll. After the elder Carroll's death, Mr. Carroll became a partner in Parks, Carroll & Hession. He retired in 1981. Born in Boston, Mr. Carroll graduated from Boston Latin School in 1933, Holy Cross College in 1937 and Boston College Law School in 1941. He was a former trustee of the Hibernia Savings Bank and a member of the Wellesley Country Club, Needham Golf Club and the Eastward Ho Country Club in Chatham.

Mr. Carroll leaves a son, David B. of Walpole; two daughters, Judith Joy of Los Altos, Calif., and Jane Blankenship of Wellesley, and five grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph's Church, Needham. Burial will be in the Universalist People's Cemetery, Chatham.

A memorial service will be held tomorrow for Harry W. Snow of 5 Beacon st., a retired Danvers High School teacher. He died Saturday in Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, after a long illness. He was 67.

Born in Danvers, he attended Danvers High School and St. John's Prep School before graduating from Bowdoin College, Brunswick, Maine. He later earned a master's degree in education at the University of New Hampshire. Mr. Snow taught at St. Johnsbury School, St. Johnsbury, Vt., and later, at the Mt. Hermon School in Northfield. For 17 years, he was head of the mathematics department at Danvers High School, retiring in 1979. He was also head of the mathematics team and coached the golf team there. He was a past president of Harmony Lodge of Masons, and a member of the Maple Street Congregational Church, Danvers. Mr. Snow was a lieutenant commander in the Navy during World War II.

He leaves his wife, Rita (Coombs); two daughters, Sandra Snow of Arlington and Susan Blankenship of Carlisle; two sons, H. Whittier Snow Jr. of Raleigh, N.C. and William R. Snow of Richmond, Va.; a sister, Dorothy Roberts of Pompano Beach, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. in Maple Street Congregational Church. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.

Leominster - Steven E. Knight, 35, of 148 Tisdale St. died Friday in Leominster Hospital after he was stricken ill. He was a construction worker.

He leaves his parents, William E. and Elizabeth (Menulla) Knight of Leominster, with whom he lived; four brothers, William L. Knight, with the Army at Fort Ord, Calif., Karl F. Knight of Hubbardston, David E. and Bruce E. Knight, both of Leominster; and four sisters, Mary J. Gionet, Rose A. Alario, Lisa K. Lacouture and Sheila B. Blankenship, all of Leominster. He was born in Leominster and lived here all his life.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West St. The Rev. Paul E. Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
