Bertha Blankenship,
80, Cassville, died at 4:10 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17, 1997, at a local nursing home
after a long illness. Mrs.
Blankenship was born June 17,
1916, at Shell Knob. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Fairview
Pentecostal Church.
She married Virgil
Blankenship on April 21, 1934,
at Exeter. He died Sept. 22, 1992.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Blankenship,
Marionville, and Sterling
Blankenship, Cassville; a
sister, Ruby Carpenter, Green Forest, Ark.; five grandchildren; and 10
great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Clio Cemetery,
Jenkins. The Rev. James Madewell will officiate.

Jane Blankenship,
52, Cassville, died at 12:03 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, 1997, at St. John's Regional
Health Center, Springfield, after a short illness. Mrs. Blankenship was born Dec. 16, 1944 in Rhode Island.
She moved to Missouri from Rhode Island in 1992. For about 10
years, she was a school bus driver in Narragansett, R.I. In Cassville, she had
worked for the Fasco Corp. and Red Rose Inn. She
worked for Thorco Inc. at the time of her illness.
She was a member of Roaring River Southern Baptist Church, Eagle Rock. She
married Ellery O. Blankenship on Nov. 10, 1962. at
Port Hueneme, Calif. He survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Ellery Otis Blankenship Jr., Seligman, and Donald
James Blankenship,
Jacksonville, Ark.; a daughter, Lee Ann Ogg, Pittsburgh, Pa.; her mother, Ethel Rosenbalm,
Peace Dale, R.I.; three brothers, Christopher Christensen, state of Florida,
Donald Christensen, La Feria, Texas, and James Christensen, Hope Valley, R.I.;
two sisters, Carol Ann Christensen and Marjorie Hanson, both of Hope Valley,
R.I., and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Fohn
Funeral Home, Cassville. The Rev. Paul Yarnall will
officiate. Burial will be in Munsey Cemetery, Eagle Rock.

Elton Foster George Tavenner, 81, Monett,
died at 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 1996, at a local nursing home after a
long illness. Mr. Tavenner
was born April 12, 1915, at Herndon, Va.
He retired from American Telephone & Telegraph Co. He moved to
Monett from Hyattsville, Md., in 1972. He was a Catholic. He married Delna
Ruth England on March 26, 1971. She died July 15, 1995.
Surviving are a stepdaughter, Linda Sue Blankenship, Monett; a sister, Evelyn Lois Copeland, Falls Church, Va.; five
grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Bennett-Wormington
Funeral Home, Monett. The Rev. Arnold Ray Evans will officiate. The body has
been cremated.

Poplar Bluff, MO, formerly of Bluffton, AR died Tuesday, August 2, 1998 at Lucy
Lee Hospital in Poplar Bluff. She was born March 29, 1906 at Sims to J. C. and
Lester Ophelia Maddox Vines. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Rounsaville; three sons, John E. Turner, J. C. Turner and
Harvey P. Turner; and two daughters, Patricia Ann Rounsaville
and Juanita Blankenship.
Survivors include a son, Howard Turner of Rover; a step-son, R. T. Rounsaville of Oregon; a stepdaughter, Mary Miles of Hot
Springs; a brother, Thurman Vines of Greenwood; a daughter-in-law, Geneva
Turner of Gadsden, AL; seven grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and 10
great-great grandchildren.

Linn Creek, Mo.
He was a carpenter and farmer for
many years, and lived in Miller and Camden Counties all of his life.
He was preceded in death by one

the home in Rocky Mount, Mo.; one son,

Joseph L. (Joe) Allen, age 85, of Tina, Missouri, died October 3,
1999 at the Carroll County Memorial Hospital in Carrollton, Missouri. Mr. Allen
was born September 17, 1914,in Exline,
Missouri, the son of Bert and Ivona Vincent Allen. He
had lived in the Carroll County area most of his life. He worked for many years
as a supervisor for Intrusion Prepak, a bridge
construction company. He later owned and operated a farm near Tina. He was a
member of the Bogard Baptist Church.
On July 7, 1934, he was married to Helen L. Austin, in Brunswick,
Missouri. She survives at the home. Other survivors include a son, Danny Joe
Allen, and his wife, Virginia, Tina, Missouri; a daughter, Rosalie Hedrick, and
her husband, Kenneth, Carrollton; three grandchildren, Davie Jo Allen, and his
wife, Denise, Carrollton, Jason Hedrick, Carrollton, and Kynetta Blankenship, and her husband, Larry, Bogard, Missouri; eight great-grandchildren, Darcy, Dylan
and Delaney Allen, B.J. and Kira Hedrick, and Taira,
Brice and Katana Blankenship; one brother-in-law, Roy Henderson; one
niece and several nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Parlee Henderson, one brother, Floyd Allen, and one grand-daughter,
Donna Jo Allen.
Funeral services were conducted by Reverend Bruce Trussell at 3:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 5, 1999, at the
Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton. Burial was in Coloma Cemetery, Coloma,
Missouri.

On Feb. 22, 1922, she was married in
Tuscumbia to Cecil S. Farmer, who died July 9, 1985.
Surviving her are two sons, Carl Farmer
of Liberty and Stanton Farmer of Springfield; a daughter, Opal VanBebber of Kansas City; a sister, Martha Wright of Eldon; five grandchildren; and six
great-grandchildren.

Anthony S. Jurgensmeyer, 60, of Jefferson City died Thursday, Aug.
12, 1999, at his home. He was born Aug
11, 1939, in St. Elizabeth to William and Irmine Schwaller Jurgensmeyer. His mother survives in Jefferson City. On
April 27, 1963, he was married in Mary’s Home to Ann Mary Kempker,
who died June 6, 1998. On July 3, 1999, he was married in Jefferson City to
Karen Hart Kempker, who survives at the home. Mr. Jurgensmeyer was a 1957 graduate of St. Elizabeth High
School. He was a retired union carpenter.
Mr. Jurgensmeyer also was a member of the St. Joseph Cathedral,
the Knights of Columbus and Carpenters Local 345.
Also surviving are a son, Steve Jurgensmeyer
of Jefferson City; two daughters, Sheila Tannehill of Waverly, Ohio, and Stephanie Blankenship of Jefferson City; three step-sons, Doug Kempker of Eugene and Keith Kempker
and Darrin Kempker, both of Jefferson City; a
step-daughter, Merideth Lehman of Jefferson City; two
grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four brothers, Donnie Jurgensmeyer of the state of Virginia, Ronnie Jurgensmeyer of the state of Florida, Bill Jurgensmeyer of Jefferson City and Pat Jurgensmeyer

(Jefferson City). He was
born Feb. 28, 1904, in Bagnelll, a son of John and
Amy Jane Platter.
He was employed at the Bagnell and Stover Tiff Mines, and also worked with Arthur
Jungmeyer
as a carpenter. Most recently he was employed as a custodian with Cole R-I
School
District in Russellville until his retirement.
He was married June 29, 1935, in
Tuscumbia, to Treva Mae Blankenship, who survives at
the
home. Other survivors include: one son, Charles Platter,
Russellville; two daughters, Marlis
Meyer, Jefferson City, and Shirley Goldammer,
Russellville; one half-brother, Henry Platter,
Eldon; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 10:30 am, Friday at Scrivner Chapel in Russellville. The Rev.
C.D.

officiate. Burial will be in Enloe Cemetery near

Jackie Ray Robinson, 50, Beaufort, died
Sunday at his home. He was born April 28, 1941, in Meta, a son of Wayne and
Ruby Adkins Robinson.
He worked 29 years at the General Motors
Corp. assembly plant in St. Louis. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local
2550 and of Leslie Baptist church.
He was married March 18, 1961, to Wilma Blankenship, who died April
7, 1979.
He was married March 28, 1982, in
Beaufort, to Marcie Linnenbrink, who survives at the
home.
His stepfather and mother, Charlton and
Ruby Bryant, survive in Iberia. Other survivors include: one son, Bill
Robinson, Beaufort; one daughter, Loretta
Laubinger, Beaufort; two brothers, Ralph Prater,
Washington, MO, and Marvin “Red” Prater,
Iberia; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Stevinson Mossman Funeral Home, Iberia. The
Rev. Herman Bockhorst will officiate.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Iberia.

Aaron B. Mills Jr. 67, Aurora, died at 2:22 a.m. Thursday, March 6,
1997, at Aurora Community Hospital after a long illness. Mr. Mills was born
Sept. 30, 1927, at Oran, Mo. He moved to the Aurora area three years ago.
He was a member of Church of God, Aurora. He was an Army veteran of
the Korean War and was a retired machine operator for Caterpillar, Peoria, Ill.
He married Lucille Murphy on Sept. 3, 1950, at Piggott, Ark. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Kenneth Mills, Bloomington, Ill.;
two daughters, Louise Spradley, Houston, Texas, and Sharon Blankenship, Aurora; a sister, Lucille Harding, Las
Cruces, N.M.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

76, of Eldon died Monday, Aug 12, 1991 at St. Mary’s Health Center in Jefferson
City. He was born Nov. 25, 1914 at
Buick, Mo. To William Melvin and Alice Menerva
Crocker Hall. On March 24, 1934
he was married in Capps to Flossie Barton, who survives at the home. Mr. Hall
moved to Eldon in 1988 from a farm near St. Elizabeth where he lived for 43
years. He was a farmer and carpenter and
in 1949 he was ordained as a deacon of Humphrey’s Creek Christian Church where
he was a
member.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are two sons, Ronald Howard Hall
of Center and James William Hall of Iberia; six daughters, Wanda Chandler of
St. Charles, Donnavee Henley, Alicia Atwell and Kathy
Albertson, all of Eldon, Glenna Gardner of Lake Ozark and Diane Blankenship of Iberia; a sister, Villa Fern Corbin of
Jefferson City; a brother, Lloyd “Pete” Hall of Glover; 16 grandchildren; and
18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Phillips
Funeral Home with the Rev. Gene Edwards and the Rev. Ed Teal officiating.
Burial will be in the Eldon Cemetery.

Eldon, the daughter of Charles and Emma Blankenship Wood.
She was married Feb. 16, 1922, to Almon James Keyes, who died on Feb. 3, 1975
She was employed at Tweedies
in Versailles. She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Versailles.
Two sons, John Henry Keyes and Garland
Keyes preceded her in death.
Survivors include: two sons, Doyle Keyes,
Versailles, and Donald Keyes, Gravois Mills; four daughters, Maxine Bybee and Inis Vernon, both of
Versailles, Virginia Durbin, Independence, and Ilene Brown, Stover; 30

Tuscumbia to Winston Lawson, who survives at the home.

Mary Ann Wilson, Waynesville; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 pm, Monday at Stevinson-Mossman Funeral Home, Iberia. Brother

Alexander, 76, Dixon, died Monday at Phelps County Regional Medical Center,
Rolla. He was born Oct. 8, 1920, in Miller County, a son of Melfin and Cora Blankenship Alexander.
He was a member of First Baptist Church,
Dixon. A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of the Liesmann-Roberts
American Legion Post 298, Dixon. He worked in housing maintenance at Fort Leonard
Wood for 33 years before retiring.
He was married Dec. 6, 1947, in Maries
County to Ruth Evelyn Martin, who survives at the home.
Other survivors include: two sons, Glen
Alexander, Columbus, Ohio, and David Alexander, Rolla; three brothers, Edward
Alexander and Melvin Alexander Jr., both of Iberia, and Myrl
ìBobî Alexander, Henley; three sisters, Iris Dake, Dixon, Donna Sisk, Blue Springs, and Marie Kavanaugh, Ontario, Canada.
Services will be at 2 pm., Thursday at

at St. Johnís Mercy Medical Center, St. Louis. He was
born July 27, 1912, in Miller County, a son of Evert and Sarah Blankenship
Humphrey.
He was employed as a carpenter and in the
maintenance department of Brown Shoe Co., Dixon, retiring in 1975. He was a
member of Burnett Christian Church, Dixon, and the Dixon Saddle Club.
He was married to Mabel Williams, who
died April 5, 1967. He was married Sept. 5, 1969, in
Dixon, to Reba Jones Deardeuff, who
survives at the home.
Other survivors include: two sons, Laymond Humphrey, Hermann, and Raymond Humphrey, Kansas

causes at Wentzville Park Care Center.
Mrs. Blankenship was retired after being employed for 20 years with

District in St. Ann.
Among survivors are two sons,
Richard W. Blankenship of Spanish Lake and Leonard F. Blankenship Jr. of St. Peters; one daughter, Juanita
Lee Blankenship of St. Peters;
two brothers, Clarence Caldwell of Troy and Barney Jackson of Festus; one
sister, Lyna Jane Cook of Paris, Texas; five
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Williams
Memorial United Methodist Church, 307 West Pitman Avenue, Wentzville.
