Services for Lillian "Frances" Davis, 77, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015, at Crown Health and Rehab of Natchez, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dan Ratcliff officiating. Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Gary Farmer, Henry Farmer Jr., William Ray Farmer Jr., Blake Wade, Eddie Thompson and Glen Foster. Honorary pallbearers will be William Ray Farmer Sr., Roy Farmer Jr., Jonathon Foster, Braxton Davis and Fran Farmer.

Mrs. Davis was born Sept. 1, 1937, in Skeen, the daughter of Herbert Herman Farmer and Loventrice Blankenship Farmer.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Natchez and an avid bowler. She was known as the greatest gift wrapper and as a tremendous cook. She loved watching her children and grandchildren play ball. Mrs. Davis was very family oriented. She and her husband were married on Easter Sunday in 1960, and were together for more than 55 years.

Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law, Joseph Henry Sessions Davis; her mother-in-law, Alma Leola Davis; one daughter, Lillian Terraine Davis; her son, Joseph Herman Davis; and four brothers, Herbert Glendon Farmer Sr., Henry King Farmer Sr., Roy Farmer Sr., and Alan Keith Farmer Sr.

Survivors include her husband, William Frederick Davis Sr.; two sons, William F. Davis Jr. and his wife, Kimberly Hall Davis, of Clinton and Thomas Blake Davis of Natchez; one brother, William Ray Farmer Sr. of Roxie; two sisters, Carol Farmer Foster of Natchez and Lance Farmer Holmes of Deltona, Fla.; two grandchildren, Danielle Renee Davis of Terry and Sydney Paige Davis of Clinton; one great grandchild, Braxton Curtis Davis of Terry; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Ms. Artie Elora (Blankenship) Mills, age 93 of Corinth, will be held on Thursday, October 24th, 2013 at three o'clock in the afternoon at Memorial Funeral Home in Corinth with Bro. Smiley Mills and Bro. Merle Dixon officiating. Burial will take place at Forrest Memorial Park in Corinth.

Ms. Mills was born on December 10, 1919 in Alcorn County, MS to the late William Able and Nina Brock Blankenship. She was united in marriage to Mr. Martin Van Mills, who preceded her in death in 1981, after having celebrated 47 years together.

She was a cook in the Alcorn Central High School cafeteria. Ms. Mills was a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church, and thoroughly enjoyed singing in the quartet there, as well as cooking for members of the church and her family. She also taught Sunday School there for over 40 years. She was especially known for her delicious cakes. Besides enjoying to sew and quilt, and working in her flowers, Ms. Mills loved spending time with her friends and most importantly her family. She was a dear Christian lady who will be missed by all, but never forgotten.

On Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at one o'clock in the morning, Ms. Mills left to be with our Heavenly father.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, a daughter, Daris Gray and husband Pete of Corinth, and a son, William Carrol Mills and wife Charlotte of Corinth; three grandsons, Chad Mills (Kim), Bradley Martin Mills (Adrian), and Chris C. Miles; two step-grandchildren, Riley Gray (Elizabeth) and Megan Gray Rothrock (Dr. Alan Rothrock); two great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren; a brother, Bill Joe Blankenship; and a brother-in-law, Gaines Wroten.

In addition to her husband and parents, Ms. Mills was also preceded in death  by a son-in-law, Kenneth L. Rogers, three sisters, Lenora Wroten, Ila Ross and husband Hardin, and Opal Seago and husband Joe, a brother, Leroy Blankenship and wife Shirley, and a sister-in-law, Nadine Blankenship.

Funeral services for Addie Fae Nelson are set for 2:00 P.M. On Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at McPeters Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dennis Smith officiating. Burial will be in Henry Cemetery.

Mrs. Nelson died on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at the Regency Retirement Home in Jackson, TN. She was born in Wheatley, AR on January 21, 1924 to the late John Floyd and Irene Blankinship Byrum.

She enjoyed embroidery; making a lot of her own clothes; loved to visit the residents at the nursing homes where she was known as the "Banana Lady", due to her bringing bananas to them on a daily basis, was an excellent cook, mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Nelson also sang in the choir at First Baptist Church - Corinth, where she was a member, and was called upon by Bill McPeters numerous times in the past to sing at funerals.

Along with her parents, Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by her husband, Travis Nelson Sr. and one brother, James Byrum.

Survivors include one son, Travis Nelson Jr. and wife Joyce of Issaquah, WA; one daughter, Melanie Mathis and husband Ben of Jackson, TN; one brother, Fritz Byrum and wife Jackie of Glenco, MO; one sister, Florene Dobesh of Tyndall, SD; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Harmony Hill Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Cathy Gullion, Susan Blankenship, and Joan Osborn (Audie); her sons, Truman A. Williams (Hebie), Andrew Williams (Donna), Freddy Williams (Lisa), and Louie Williams (Melissa); her grandchildren, Kim Brook, Lynn Simmons, Shannon Woodall, Jerry Woodall, Candie Legg, Angela Waddell, Dion Ledlow, Vaughn Williams, Donnie Williams, Billy Williams, Jeremy Williams, Melinda Williams, Belinda Williams, Natalie Hardwick, Stephanie Williams, Drew Williams, Jeremy Osborn, Sam Osborn, Morgan McCalmon, Brooke McGuire, Reid Williams, Olivia Williams, Chase Williams, and Lauryn Williams; 32 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 29 at Harmony Hill Baptist Church. Burial was at Harmony Hill Cemetery.

Nellie Rae Wells Burris, 94, of the Mars Hill community in Amite County, passed away Dec. 27, 2016, at her home, one month before her 95th birthday. Mrs. Burris was born Jan. 27, 1922, in McComb to Ray and Susie Barron Wells and was the fifth of 10 children.

Mrs. Burris was a longtime faithful member of Mars Hill Baptist Church, where she was always involved with the children and youth, and was active in the Women's Missionary Union, all while being employed full time. For a brief period, she attended First Baptist Church until Grady, her husband of 65 years, passed away. She was employed by the J. C. Penney Co. on Main Street in McComb for 35 years, and her customers loved her jolly, good-natured spirit. She was quoted as saying, "I loved going to work every single day!" After her retirement, she and Grady volunteered as managers and oversaw operations of the Mars Hill Community Center from 1982 until her health began to fail. She left as her legacy the love of her Lord Jesus, her generosity and giving to her family and friends, cooking and sharing food from her beautiful garden and making her famous chicken and dumplings with the crust on top.

Mrs. Burris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Charles Wendell Burris; a grandson, Wendell McDowell Burris; and nine siblings, Allie Mae Hutchinson (T.J.), Oscar Lee Wells (Carolee), Earl (Aline), Clyde (Essie), Louis (Georgia Pearl), Burnell and wife, Gladys Blankenship (George), Raiford (Doris) and Louise Powell (Lee).

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Randy Morris Burris (Dianne Gerald) of Smithdale and James Larry Burris (Betty Travis) of Kingsport, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Dana Burris Coleman, Tina Burris (Randie) Bertrand, LeAnne Burris Shelton (Andy) and Brantley Burris (Sarah Beth); nine great-grandchildren, Chase, Trent and Faith Coleman, Joseph and Brady Bertrand, Peyton and Abby Katheryn Shelton, and Riley and Ava Claire Burris; two nephews who were like sons, Gary and Darryl Powell; numerous nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, Benjamen Ward Burris (Doris); and the beloved squirrel hunters who came for 36 annual reunions.

Funeral Service is 11 a.m. Friday at Mars Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Victor Walsh and Bro. Jared Leonard officiating. Burial will be in the Mars Hill Cemetery under the direction of Hartman Funeral Home of McComb. Pallbearers will be Darryl Powell, Gary Powell, George Blankenship , Brantley Burris, Peyton Shelton, Chase Coleman, Trent Coleman and Randie Bertrand. Jerry Leon Collins, 71, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, at Lamar. He was born March 15, 1943, in Starkville. He was a supervisor for U.S. Airways and a member of Slayden Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the Mississippi National Guard and the American Legion. He was an fan of Ole Miss football. He was co-founder of the Rossville Academy Booster Club and was The Voice of the football team for 12 years.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, at Slayden Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Slayden Cemetery. Holly Springs Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Jonnie Byrd Collins of Lamar; three sons, Jason Reaves (Amanda), Derek Reaves (Karen) and Josh Reaves (Valerie), all of Lamar; four daughters, Britney Waddle (Cody) of Lamar, Candy Featherstone of Collierville, Tenn., Leona Collins, and Penny Jones of Collierville, Tenn.; three brothers, Archie Collins of Weir, Charles Collins of Longview and Billy Blankenship of Sturgis; one sister, Angie McGinsis of Sturgis; 14 grandchildren.

She was a beloved wife, mother, and educator who taught not only her students, but every heart she touched to live life to the fullest and never give up hope.

Mrs. Winters, 62, of Coila, died Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, at her residence of heart failure. She was born on Sept. 27, 1951, in Greenwood to the late Joseph and Mary Orr Haddon and resided most of her life in the Greenwood area.

Her hobbies were hunting and fishing, and she was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Earl Haddon; a sister, Shirley Ann Sparks; and a granddaughter, Crystal Dawn Winters.

Mrs. Winters is survived by two sons, James E. Blankenship of Sidon and Mack Winters of Winona; a daughter, Melissa Winters of Saucier; two sisters, Mary C. Hicks of Greenwood and Linda Kuykendall of Duck Hill; a brother, Joseph E. Haddon Jr. of Big Creek; five grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Williams & Lord Funeral Home of Greenwood. The Rev. David Bartlett will officiate at the services. James M. Neal, 84, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015 at his home in Houston. He was born Dec. 19, 1930, in Chickasaw County to Charlie Milton Neal and Mattie Della West Neal.

James retired from Northeast Mississippi LP Gas Company. After retirement, he continued working part-time totaling 64 years, first as a truck driver then as an office clerk. He was an Army veteran. He was a member of Southside Church of Christ. His great-grandchildren were the pride of his life.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Houston Funeral Home with Bro. J.F. Dancer officiating. Burial will follow at Houston Cemetery in Houston. Pallbearers are Jonathan Blankenship, Christopher Free, Greg King, Robert Gore, Bill Blissard and Derrick Jennings.

Murry Blankenship, long-time owner, editor and publisher of the Okolona Messenger, died Saturday, April 30, 2016, at his residence in Okolona after a brief illness. He was the son of the late Murry Hunter Blankenship and Mary Evelyn Landin Blankenship of West Point, where he was born and reared. He was a graduate of West Point High School and Mississippi State University.

He was a charter member of the Okolona Jaycees and Okolona Lions Clubs and served on the boards of Baby Steps and Okolona Area Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of Okolona First Baptist Church.

Prior to purchasing the Okolona Messenger, he was in retail, beginning his career at Woolworth stores in Albany and Atlanta, Georgia, as manager and as an area Supervisor of Bill's Dollar Stores. He was selected as 1996 Okolona Citizen of the Year and presented the NCNW Communication Award. The Okolona Area Chamber of Commerce awarded him the Main Street Award in 2009, Business of the Year in 2012 and Public Service Award in 2015.

The Okolona Fire Department awarded him the Support Award, and the 288th Sapper Company presented him a flag flown over Sapper headquarters in Afghanistan on August 23, 2012. He was the recipient of the Mississippi Press Award for his picture and coverage of the May 2011 tornado that struck Okolona and the surrounding area.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, constructing and planning building projects, Okolona Chieftain football and baseball games, Mississippi State football games, attending Okolona City Council meetings and His greatest interests and pleasure were his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Suzannah Criswell Blankenship; his three children, Murry Blankenship, Jr., (Dawn) of Saltillo; Leigh Hunter Blankenship Pettit (Chris) of New Albany; John Blankenship of Okolona; four grandchildren, Sara Katherine Blankenship, Hannah Claire Blankenship and Murry Hunter Blankenship, all of Saltillo; John Russell Blankenship of Okolona; two sisters, Peggy Blankenship Spell of West Point and Dot Blankenship Long of Pearl.

Services will be held at 3 PM, (today) Monday, May 2, 2016, at Okolona First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Asbury Cemetery. Pallbearers are Judge John A. Mrs. Emma Louise Caradine Davis, 91, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at the Care Center in Aberdeen [Monroe Co., MS].

Graveside services will be held noon Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012 at Hatchet Cemetery in the Caradine Community with Rev. Steve Lampkin and Rev. Eric Davis officiating. Pallbearers are Larry Davis, Tim horner, Shan Moore, Rev. Steve Lampkin, Randy Simmons, Alberto Davis, and Jim bell. Honorary Pallbearers are Dr. Keith Hayes, Dr. Vincent Barker, Dr. Kirk Yamato, Dr. William Calhoun, Dr. Barry Bertolet, Dr. Guillermo Hernández, and all former Pastors of Foster's Chapel United Methodist Church.

She was the widow of the late James Robert Davis of Caradine. A lifelong native of Clay County, she was born April 12, 1921, to Edward Patrick Caradine and Ethel Imogene Bean Caradine. Mrs. Davis was a retired employee for Rice Stixx Company, Shannon Chair Co. and Daniels Department Store, all in Houston. She was a lifelong member of Foster's Chapel united Methodist Church. She remained active with sewing, gardening and her family for most of her life.

Survivors include her son, Ed and his wife, Louise Davis of Starkville; grandsons, Christopher and his wife, Coree Davis of Crawford, Eric and his wife, Christine of Houston; brothers-in-law, Raymond Davis of Anchor and Billy Davis of Woodland. Additionally she leaves many cherished nieces and nephews she loved dearly.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Elsie Rivers Caradine Blankenship of West Point, Betty Sue Caradine Fitzpatrick of Houston; and brother, Harold Edward "Jack" Caradine of Okolona.

David Forrester, 83, died May 21, 2013, at his residence. Mr. Forrester was born Aug. 23, 1929, in Webster County to the late Thomas Jefferson and Rosa Oletha Martin Forrester. He was a member of Pheba Baptist Church and was formerly employed as an "A" fitter at Babcock and Wilcox Company. He was a veteran of the United States Army.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Wayne Forrester; and a granddaughter.

Gladys B. Powell Elliott, age 88, of West Point, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2011, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, Miss. Gladys was born Jan. 24, 1923, in Clay County to the late Mattie Mae Andrews and William Raymond Blankenship. She was a member of First Baptist Church in West Point.

Funeral services are today, Sunday, June 19, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Robinson Chapel with the Rev. Dale Funderburg officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Sam Hollingsworth, age 71, passed away, Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at his home, in West Point. Sam Alford Hollingsworth was born Oct. 4, 1941, to Allie Mae Hollis Reid and the late William Aaron Hollingsworth.

He worked under Sheriff Virgil Middleton as a deputy before becoming a Wildlife Conversation Officer for the State of Mississippi retiring in 1996. Mr. Hollinsworth was a member of Old Aberdeen Road Church of Christ. He was a Veteran of the Mississippi National Guard serving during the Cuban Crisis. Sam Alford Hollingsworth married Jimmy Dell Thompson Hollingsworth Jan. 5, 1963, in West Point.

Funeral services are Friday, November 2, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Brinkley officiating. Burial will follow in Palestine Cemetery at Montpelier with Wildlife Conservation Burial Honors. Honorary Pallbearers are Kenny Dill, Dr. Cameron Huxford, Sammie McNeel, Charlie Dimino, Don Holland, and the Baptist Hospital Hospice Team.

Yvonne R. “Lucy” Blankenship, 84, died Jan. 20, 2013, at OCH Regional Medical Center [Starkville, Oktibbeha Co., MS]. She was born July 25, 1928, to the late Elma Thornton and A. P. Ray.

Mrs. Blankenship retired from Knickerbocker and Big Yank clothing factory. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Lane Blankenship; sister, Elva Mae Wallace; and one grandson.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Blankenship of West Point; sons, J. C. “Bud” Johnson of Columbus, Charles Therroin Johnson of West Point and Mickey Blankenship of Alverado, Texas; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

John William ""Bill"" Vest, 93, passed away, on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at Mississippi State Veterans Home in Kosciusko, [Attala Co., MS]. He was born in Stevenson, Ala., to Ella Mae Hart and James Horton Vest Sr.

He was a farmer and former service station owner and was a member of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and served during World War II. He was awarded the Silver Star and was a Purple Heart recipient. He married Mildred Lucille Vaughn Vest on March 13, 1948; she preceded him in death on Nov. 25, 1998.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 7, at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel in West Point with Dr. James Towery officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Skeeter Smith, David Cox, Bob Lummus, David Stroud, Harry Welch and David Lummus. Honorary pallbearers will be nurses and staff of the Mississippi State Veteran's Home in Koscuisko.

Survivors include his three daughters, Cindy Vest Reed, Gay Vest Miller and Kay Vest Kisner (Ronnie); one son, Billy D. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Wesley Wesson Sunday School Class and Marcella Joiner Circle. She also loved playing Bridge with her friends.

Bobbie Sue Blankenship Horner, 82, passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2014, at Windsor Place in Columbus, [Lowndes Co., MS]. She was born February 18, 1932, in West Point to the late Rivers Caradine and Jesse L. Blankenship Sr.

She married Bobby Horner on November 10, 1956. Mrs. Horner loved the Lord and was a member of Strong United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2014, at Robinson Chapel in West Point with the Rev. Jim Sallee and the Rev. Keith Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Sgt. 1st Class Don Collier, Andrew Hurst, Lee Horner, Chris Hurst and Zach Hurst; her grandsons-in-law, Alex Bondurant and Colby Warren; and her cousin, Dr. Ed Davis. Another Earthly Angel, Mrs. Jennie Bob "Jinks" Shelton Blankenship, was called home on July 17, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle in Columbus, [Lowndes Co., MS]. After her Heavenly Father welcomed her home, I am sure PaPa met her playing his fiddle and a fabulous musical reunion is under way! Mrs. Jennie Bob "Jinks" Shelton Blankenship was born January 2, 1918, in Fayette, Alabama, the daughter of the late Lon and Levie Porter Shelton.

She was a seamstress at Knickerbocker Manufacturing in West Point. She was also a caregiver. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Ras Norman Blankenship; son, Buddy Blankenship; granddaughter, Terri Thompson; four sisters, Clarice Carroll, Alice Mansfield, Sue Langford, and Ruby Hammons; and four brothers, Billy Joe, Jim, Buddy, and Bo Shelton.

Funeral services will be Monday, July 20, 2015, at 5:00 p.m. at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dale Funderburg officiating. Mrs. Judy Young will deliver the eulogy. She was known for her sweet spirit and her kindness to all she met. She married James Horton Vest Jr. on December 24, 1948 in Clay County, who preceded her in death on September 19, 1991

Mr. Walter F. "Crow" Simmons, 86, passed away on June 10, 2016, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point. He was born October 25, 1929, in Montpelier the son of the late George L. and Annie Lee Blankenship Simmons.

He was a member of Siloam United Methodist Church. He owned and operated W. F. Simmons Well Drilling. He then worked as an "A" Maintenance Worker at Babcock and Wilcox retiring in 1992. He was a member of the West Point Masonic Lodge #40 F.&A.M.. He loved sports, was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed the outdoors. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend.

He married Mabel Lucille Cantrell on September 25, 1948, in West Point and she preceded him in death on October 7, 2014. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Dayne Simmons.

Survivors include One Daughter, Ann Simmons Dawson (Jesse) of Starkville; Two Sons, Reverend Charlie Simmons (Frances) of Sardis and George Simmons (Judy) of West Point; Seven Grandchildren and Seventeen Great Grandchildren; and Two sisters, Jonnie Mae Autrey (Frank) and Mary Ann Robinson, both of West Point and Numerous Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be June 12, 2016, at 2 p.m. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Charlie Simmons officiating and assisted by Reverend Raleigh Richter. J. C. 'Buddy" Johnson Jr. passed away Monday, November 7, 2016 at the University Medical Center in Grenada, [Grenada Co., MS] at the age of 67. He was born January 12, 1949 in Crawford, to the late Yvonne Ray and J. C. Johnson Sr.

He was a veteran of the US Navy and served in the Vietnam War. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church and a truck driver for many years and a well known mechanic.

Katie Andrews Blankenship, age 90, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2017, at The Oaks Of Carrollton Nursing Home in Carrollton, [Carroll Co.,] Georgia. Mrs. Katie was born April 23, 1927, in Montpelier, the youngest of 9 children, to the late John David "Dave" and Addie Mae Andrews.

Mrs. Katie was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in West Point. Mrs. Katie was a devoted full-time housewife, mother, and grandmother. Her grandchildren remembered growing up, if you came to visit, she always wanted to feed you or give you some "Tang" or Dr. Pepper to drink. Before her dementia progressed, she enjoyed cooking and working in her yard. She loved growing flowers, flowering shrubs, plants, and trees. Her yard was a testament to her hobby until she was no longer able to care for it.

After moving to Carrollton, Georgia, in 2010, she loved living at The Oaks of Carrollton, where she made and enjoyed many new friends. She loved one of the courtyards where residents were able to tend to flowers and vegetable gardens. She would love the times that the "Elvis" impersonator would come to perform and the weekly gospel singings. The Certified Nursing Assistant's, Nurses, and Employees of the Oaks loved her and affectionately called her their "Katie-Bug." Mrs. Katie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Mrs. Katie married Rufus Blankenship on March 14, 1947, in Monroe County and he preceded her in death on March 19, 1991. They were married for 44 years. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Katie was preceded in death by a infant son, James Allen Blankenship: infant granddaughter, Lindsay Kristina Woolbright: infant grandson, John Samuel Woolbright: five sisters: Ruby McWhorter, Lucille Andrews, Corrine Thompson, Margaret Tyler, and Martha Jewel Montgomery; and three brothers: Stacey, James, and Charles Andrews.

Survivors include three daughters: Linda Blankenship Woolbright (John) of Benton, Arkansas, Teresa Blankenship Steadman (Larry) of Carrollton, Georgia, and Angela Blankenship Kendrick (Ricky) of Starkville; seven grandchildren: Jonathan Woolbright (Callie) of Benton, Arkansas: Shawn Steadman (Allison) of Florence, South Carolina: Joshua Woolbright of Benton, Arkansas: Whitney Steadman May (Jason) of Carrollton, Georia: Jordan Woolbright (Rachel) of Benton, Arkansas: Kate Woolbright Wooten (Jeramie) of Katy, Texas: and Chasity Kendrick Gongora (Charlie) of Atlanta, Georgia; and 11 great grandchildren: Mason Woolbright, Jaden Woolbright, Jack Woolbright, Meredith May, Ross May, Logan Woolbright, Lynley Woolbright, Harper Woolbright, Hollis Woolbright, Raef Wooten, and Kase Wooten; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved dearly.

Mr. Robert Ward Spell, 77 [1941], West Point, MS, passed away on March 14, 2018 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, [Lee Co., MS]. Born in Brunswick, GA, Mr. Spell was the son of Curtis and Genevieve Spell and the brother of Curtis Spell, Jr.

Mr. Spell had a distinguished military career and served his country for 40 years. Bob served in both the United States Army and United States Marine Corps. During his three tours in Vietnam, he was awarded the Bronze Star with Valor, the Navy Commendation Medal with Valor, the Vietnam Service Medal with four stars, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Presidential Unit Citation, among others. While on active duty, he rose to Gunnery Sergeant and proudly served his country as a member of the 101st and 82nd Airborne, the Martd Nas Norfolk, the 2nd Aircraft Wing Cherry Point, the Marine Counterintelligence and was an early member of the elite Federal Sky Marshall Program. After uniform service, he dedicated his next 25 years to federal civil service at Columbus Air Force Base, MS.

He is survived by his wife Peggy Blankenship Spell, of West Point and two children: son, Robert Spell, Jr. of Memphis, TN; daughter, Teresa Spell Judge (Paul) and granddaughter; Sawyer Landin Judge, of Alexandria, VA.

Bob will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors.

Mary Marcell Blankenship passed away Tuesday December 11, 2018 at Dugan Memorial Home at the age of 84. She was born October 21, 1934 to the late Rosie Oletha Martin and Thomas Jefferson Forrester.

She was a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church in West Point.                         

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, David Forrester and Billy Forrester.

She is survived by her husband, Jesse Lee Blankenship of West Point; son, Michael Blankenship of West Point; daughters, Sharon Leigh Bethany (Frank) of Bartlett, TN, Rosemary Brown (Steve) of West Point; brother Glen Forrester of Pheba; sister, Joann White of West Point; 4 grandchildren, Mandi Wilkerson, Kelly Bethany, Tyler Weston, Ryan Weston; 6 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren.

Bobby Nelson Horner, 83, passed away Monday, Jan. 28, 2019, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, [Lowndes Co., MS]. He was born in West Point, Jan. 7, 1936, to Lawrence Venoy Horner and Susie Virginia Vail Horner.

He graduated from West Point High School in 1954 and attended Mississippi State University. He was a member of the Mississippi National Guard for six years. Mr. Horner was employed by Babcock & Wilcox in West Point for thirty six years and was a deputy sheriff for the Clay County Sheriff's Office.

In 1956, Mr. Horner married Bobbie Sue Blankenship from West Point. They had four children: Tierney, Tim, Julie, and Ron. He was a member of Strong United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Sue Horner.

He is survived by sons: Timothy Nelson Horner (Mara), Ronald Venoy Horner (Nerissa); and daughters: Julie Horner Hurst (Chris) all of West Point and Tierney Rivers Horner Hurst (Terry) of Tupelo, eight grandchildren: Lawrence Lee Horner (Kendra), Brianna Horner Warren (Colby), Baylor Dwight Horner, Christopher Nelson Hurst, William Zachary Hurst, Donald Spencer Collier (JoHanna), Julie Hurst Bondurant (Alex), and Thomas Andrew Hurst; and five great-grand-children: Anna Kaitlyn Collier, Joseph Collier, Marilyn Collier, Amber Collier, and Lillian Grace Bondurant; and a brother-in-law, Jesse L. Blankenship.

Funeral services are 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019, at Robinson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jim Sallee officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers are members of the Clay County Sheriff's Department.

George Fernando Hicks, 89, a native of Clarksdale, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011. Hicks was a native of Clarksdale, Miss., and the first child of the late Rev. Oliver and Dereanzy Hicks.

He was a product of the Clarksdale and Coahoma County School System and a 1955 graduate of Alcorn College. He became a loyal supporter and leader of the Chicago Chapter of the Alcorn College Alumni where he served as president of the chapter for 12 years. Later he was inducted into the Hall of Fame at Alcorn College. As a young man, Hicks became interested in music and played in several bands as a drummer. He served in the armed forces as a paratrooper and started his early career as a teacher in the Clarksdale and Coahoma County School System. Later he moved his family to Chicago and became a manager for the Chicago Housing Authority where he worked until his retirement.

Hicks is survived by a loving wife, Armentra Weatherspoon Hicks; two daughters, Oliphier Blankenship and her husband, Kup; and Samara Byrd and her husband, James; one son, B. C. Gipson and his wife, Dean; four sisters, Mattie Singletary and her husband, James; Tobia Hill and her husband, Clinton; Cora L. Hicks, and Connie J. Hicks; one brother, Oliver Hicks and his wife, Gardenia; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and brother-in-law, Euzilla and Robert Vaughn, and a daughter, Barbara Woods McCray.

Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday in Chicago, Ill.

Sharon grew up in Tulsa and later moved to Denver, CO where she finished high school. In 1969 she attended Southwestern College in Oklahoma City, OK where she met the love of her life, Darrel Blankenship. They were married for over 43 years. Together they had one son, Justin.

Sharon was a homemaker and spent her time taking care of her family and working at the church. She spent over 40 years as the Pastor’s wife of Springs of Praise. Sharon loved the Lord and loved people and diligently served both. In the last few months of her life she enjoyed being a mother-in-law to Bri and a Grandmother to Deiken.

She was preceded in death by: Her parents, Irven and Jannie Mangrum, and one Daughter-in-law Bri Blankenship.

Survivors include: Rev. Darrel Blankenship of the home, Rev. Justin Blankenship of Purcell, OK. One sister, Betty Moss and husband Joe of Casper, WY. She was an avid collector of small ornate boxes and loved to watch movies, read and spend time with her grandchildren.

Louis Miller, Jr., 82, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2016 in Southaven, MS.

Mr. Miller was retired from Lucent/AT&T and a veteran of the U.S. Marines. He was a big fan of LSU Football and enjoyed golfing. He loved everything Cajun, the music, the dancing, the Crawfish Festivals and especially the Cajun Festivals, which gave him an opportunity to fulfill another joy of his and that was to watch the ladies. But above all he adored his family.

He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather as well as a loving husband to Mary Elizabeth Miller until she preceded him in death after 58 years of marriage.

He is survived by three daughters, Ramona Blankenship (Bill), Rebecca Mitchell, Pamela Burr (Michael); one brother, Roland Miller (Linda); five grandchildren, Heather, Louis, Andrea, Stephanie, Brittany; and twelve great grandchildren.

Mrs. Clark was blessed with an amazing gift of teaching and molding lives and teaching was personal to her. She fulfilled the highest calling of God, to be a servant, to her family, her church and to countless others who frequented her home. Her Bible was worn from reading. Her body was broken form serving. Her life…a testimony of the love of God.

Mrs. Clark was preceded in death by her husband, C. G. Clark; granddaughter, Anna Joy Blankenship; and her parents, John P. and Ruby Halcomb.

Audrey Pittman Lee, 92, of Hattiesburg, died December 13, 2016, at Bedford Care.

Mrs. Lee was a hairdresser and a member of 28th Avenue Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Van Walker Pittman; second husband, Billy Lee; and numerous brothers and sisters.

She is survived by two sons, Claude Pittman (Kim DeSoto) of Hattiesburg and Preston Pittman (Shelly) of Canton; grandchildren, Michael "Tony" Pittman (Sidera), Scott Allen Pittman (Wendy) and Casey Pittman; step-grandchildren, Michael Blankenship (Dendy), Megan Touchstone (Jad) and Joanna Warren (Bud); five great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, December 16, 2016, at Moore Funeral Chapel in Hattiesburg, followed by burial in Highland Cemetery.

Cora Elizabeth Ranlett Blankenship Beach, of Bay St. Louis, MS, peacefully passed to be with her Lord on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 92. She was the matriarch of the Blankenship family. Cora was born in New Orleans, LA to the late Thomas Jenkins Semmes Ranlett and Adele Olive White Ranlett. After their premature deaths she and her siblings were reared by her great-aunt "Nana", Hannah Olive White and grandmother "Nanine", Cora Semmes Ranlett.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene A. Blankenship; second husband, Paul M. Beach; brothers: Thomas Jenkins Semmes Ranlett, Jr., and Albert Sidney Ranlett III; sisters: Adele Olive Ranlett Ferguson, and Theodora Ranlett Schmalz; daughters: Eleanor Blankenship Hyman, and Jean Marie Blankenship; and grandchildren: Jeannine Cavalier and Scott Blankenship.

She is survived by her sister, Marie Ranlett Hutsler Rolf of Los Angeles, CA.; children: Thomas Jenkins Semmes Ranlett Blankenship (Sherry), Cora Blankenship Macormic, Lynn Blankenship Mahoney (John), and Barbara Blankenship Mattix Ferguson (Scott); 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

She attended McMain High School and Newcomb College. She is the 9th generation of "Semmes America" by Anderson Humphreys and Curt Guenther. She loved her family, and enjoyed life to the fullest. An avid history buff who enjoyed teaching and learning new things, particularly anything about New Orleans. Her favorite past time activities included cooking, reading mysteries and cookbooks, eating seafood at New Orleans restaurants, shopping in the French Quarter, and watching Antiques Road Show, Jeopardy and Justin Wilson on TV.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home Chapel, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. at 1:00PM on Tuesday, May 3, 2011. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park.

John Rexal Harris, II, USAF Major, Ret., age 66, of Biloxi, Mississippi, passed from this life on Thursday, March 8, 2012. John was born November 7, 1945 in Jackson, MS to John R. Harris, Sr. and Melba Watkins Harris.

A graduate of USM, John was an adoring and admired husband, father, brother, grandfather, godfather, and uncle. In addition to these, John was a renaissance southern gentleman in every sense of the words. He was a gifted wordsmith, a talented singer, a USAF C-130 navigator and Hurricane Hunter, a Sig Ep fraternity brother, a defender of right, a hero, an avid photographer, a computer systems analyst and "Mad Techie," an instructor, a mentor, co-founder of the "Harris Halfway House," an enthusiastic cook, a punster, an amateur architect, a theater lover, a sports fan, a recital goer, a "do-it-yourselfer," a world traveler, and the list goes on. In his life, John made friends wherever he went, both through real world travels and online. His career moved him to San Antonio, TX; Sacramento, CA; Abilene, TX; Little Rock, AR; Hattiesburg, MS; Philippines; Ocean Springs, MS; Guam; Troy, IL; Fort Walton Beach, FL; and Annapolis, MD.

John ("Johnny" to loved ones) rejoins his beloved wife of 40 years, Charlene, son-in-law, Chip Layson, brother, David, and his parents.

He is sorely missed by daughters Kerri Anne Thompson of Ocean Springs, MS and Heather Layson (Derek) Brown, of Winter Park, FL; his grandchildren Rhyan Elizabeth Thompson, Miles Derek Brown, Zed Clark Layson V, Kyle Justin Brown, Skylar Elysse Thompson, Caroline Grace Layson, and Harris McIntyre Layson; his sister, Marcia Belinda (Ronald) Gilstrap of Philadelphia, MS: his brother, William Paul (Jackie) Harris of Bloomington, IL; his sister-in-law Kathleen (Bob) Blankenship of Tyler, TX; his brother-in-law David (Celeste) Glass of Slidell, LA; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Dick Cross; son, Richard Donald Cross; and daughter, Eva Christine McCue.

Ossie is survived by sister, Mary Jane Blankenship; daughter, Yvonne Anderson; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She lived on the Gulf Coast for 13 years. Marie was of the Methodist Faith. She was a member and Vice President of National Active and Retired Federal Employees and Association Gulf Coast Running Club.

Marie is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Beatrice Nichols.

Eddie was a kind, generous, and loving man who brought joy to everyone's life. He never met a stranger. He loved people and people loved him. Eddie also loved animals and playing disc golf was his passion.

He is preceded in death by his father, Edward Walter Daigle, Jr., and mother Alma Maria Poche Daigle. Eddie is survived by his loving wife, Renee T. George William Blankenship, Ret. Maj.,US Army, age 69, of Gulfport, MS, died Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport.

The son of the late Willie Edgar and Mary Belle Odum Blankenship, he was born August 3, 1942 in Mayhew, MS. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he retired from the US Army with the rank of Major as Chief Communications Equipment Maintenance and Operations in the Signal Corps. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star and Meritorious Service Medals, Vietnam Service Medal with 1 Silver Star, as well as numerous other awards. He also served tours of duty in Korea, Germany and several Army posts in the United States.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Willie Edgar Blankenship, Jr.

He is survived by his wife Suki Huang Blankenship of Gulfport, MS, son Willie Blankenship of Whiteman AFB, Knob Noster, MO, daughters Brandy Blankenship and her husband Mag of Charlotte, NC and Donna Blankenship Jackson of Hamilton, MS., brothers Larry Blankenship and his wife Barbara of Raymond, MS and Jimmy Blankenship and his wife Shirley of Columbus, sisters Mary V. Paul Stinnett, 1940 ~ 2013, Gulfport; Paul was born in Nicholasville, Kentucky on June 18, 1940. He surrendered to the arms of his Heavenly Father on June 23, 2013. After twenty-seven years, Paul retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital Rehabilitation Department in September 1994. Always having a love for woodworking, Paul became known for his special skills in building dollhouses. He was an active member of Bel-Aire Baptist Church where his greatest joy was supporting mission trips and the youth.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Preston and Fairy Stinnett, his brothers Edward Stinnett, Preston Stinnett Jr., his sister Joyce Becknell, and son Robert Stinnett.

Tom Dilworth IV of Long Beach passed away Tuesday December 11, 2012 in Richmond, VA. Mr. Dilworth was born July 17, 1928 in Dallas, TX, to the late Thomas Wheelock Dilworth and Evelyn Jay Dilworth.

Mr. Dilworth graduated high school in Houston, TX in 1947. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1951 and trained as a fighter jet pilot. Following his service, he earned his B.A. and M.A. from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, graduating in 1958. Mr. Dilworth married the late Mildred Lee Turnipseed Dilworth in 1955 and remained devoted to her throughout 23 years of marriage. Mr. Dilworth was remarried in 1978 to the late Linda Gladys Dennis Dilworth.

A Long Beach resident since 1972, Mr. Dilworth was employed as a clinical psychologist for more than 40 years, first in Cleveland, OH, and then at the Gulf Coast Mental Health Center in Gulfport. He retired in 2004. Mr. Dilworth loved visiting family, bird-watching, landscaping, reading and following politics. He was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Gulfport.

Mr. Dilworth is survived by his two children, Amy Katharine Dilworth of Richmond, VA, and Thomas Kent Dilworth of Marietta, GA; his daughter-in-law, Sara Blankenship Dilworth; two grandchildren, Emma Catherine Dilworth and Griffin Thomas Dilworth; a sister, Judith Dilworth Crose, of Plano, TX; and nieces Katharine Welch and Emilie Welch of Farmers Branch, TX.

A service to celebrate Mr. Dilworth's life will be held on Wednesday December 19, 2012, at Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home in Gulfport at 1PM. Burial will follow at Live Oak Cemetery in Pass Christian.

Edwin Dexter Waddell, 88 of Clinton went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 6, 2016. He was born on October 14, 1927 in Jackson to Mary Jane and Gilbert Waddell.

On January 10, 1954 he married the love of his life, Lola Dugger. Together, they raised three beautiful daughters. He was devoted to his faith in Christ and to his family. He joined Calvary Baptist Church as a child and served as youth Sunday School teacher, Deacon and on numerous committees until moving to Clinton and joining Grace Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Genevieve Ayers; his brother, Mike Waddell (Betty).

He is survived by his wife, Lola Dugger Waddell; daughters, Cathy Nash (Barry), Peggy Blankenship (Jerry), Debbie Goodwin (Tony); his brother, Jimmy Waddell of Seattle, WA; grandchildren, Jerry Blankenship, Jr. (Victoria), Jonathan Blankenship, Cara Nash, Jamie Nash, Thomas Goodwin (Andrea), and Zachary Goodwin; his great-grandchildren, Ivey Ann Blankenship, Emma Blankenship, Memphis Starkey and Chandler Goodwin; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Ottis Farrell Blankenship, 84, of Clinton, MS, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 10, 2018. He was born January 2, 1934, to the late Mary Eulala Dixon and the late South H. Dixon of Johnson City, TN.

Farrell graduated from Science Hill High School in Johnson City, TN and received his BS. Business Administration from East Tennessee State University. He was active in the ROTC during his time at East TN State and went on to serve two years in the U.S. Army Signal Corps as a Second Lieutenant. After his time in the Service he received his Masters in Religious Education at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and over the years attended University of Southern Mississippi and took courses in "Mass Communication" Radio, Television and Film. He married Joann Oakey Blankenship of Roanoke, VA, in July of 1958.

Farrell was an active member of First Baptist Church of Clinton. He served as a President and member of the MS Baptist Religious Education Association. While in Hattiesburg, he served as manager of Cable 6 TV for over 10 years. He was also a member of the Southern Baptist Religious Education Association and a lifetime member of the Baptist Communicator's Association. He was active in his community through the Rotary Club, P.T.A, Hattiesburg Booster Club, United Way and Campaign Chairman. He was Minister of Education/Media at FBC Hattiesburg from 1965-1983. He retired from the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board as Director of Broadcast Services in 2001.

Preceded in death by Thomas P. Potter, Jr., MD and Richard C. Potter.

Farrell is survived by his wife, Joann Blankenship; children, Kevin (Sylvia) Blankenship of Hattiesburg, MS, Kent Blankenship of Clinton, MS; Kirk (Maria) Blankenship of Brandon, MS, Kellie (Keith) Tadlock of Jackson, MS; grandchildren, Chase (Amanda) Blankenship, Tyler Blankenship, Jordan Blankenship, Shelby Blankenship, and Bryce Blankenship; great-grandchildren, Jack Blankenship and Luke Blankenship; sibling, Tonita Blankenship Potter and her children, Patricia May Potter and Tom P. The funeral for Jerry David Williams will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 3 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection. The Rev. James L. Winter, rector, will preside. Visitation will be held Monday, January 3 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Church Student Center and on Tuesday from 1:30 to 3 p.m. before the service. He will be interred in the church columbarium.

Mr. Williams died Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at the University Medical Center in Jackson. He was 80 years old. A longtime resident of Starkville, Mr. Williams was born in Murray, Ky., and graduated from Murray State University with a degree in music education. He was a member of Phi Mu Alpha Fraternity and received his Masters of Music Education from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. He served in the 3rd Armed Division of the U. S. Army at Ft. Knox, Ky. and was a member of the 179th Army Band at Ft. Carson, Colo. Mr. Williams taught music in Kentucky, Illinois, and Tennessee, before moving to Starkville, where he was music director at First United Methodist Church and the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection. For many years, he conducted liturgy in Hebrew at Temple B'nai Israel in Columbus. He was employed by Mississippi State University for 36 years, where he was Head of the Choral Department and founded the University Madrigal Singers. Mr. Williams served as Director of State Music Camp for over 30 years and as an advisor to vocal and piano majors at the University. He was a member of the National Education Association, Tennessee Education Association, Music Educators National Conference, Tennessee Music Educators Association and the American Choral Directors Association.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, LaVora Holland William, and survived by two daughters, Malinda (Rob) Cox of Ft. Bragg, N. C., and Rebekah (Steve) Smith of Ada, Mich.; a foster daughter Susan (Shaw) Blankenship of Crab Orchard, Ky.; seven grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.

Carl Allen Hudson, Sr. entered into the place Jesus promised to prepare for him on August 24, 2013.

He will be deeply missed by his wife Dottie Leavell Hudson, his son, Carl Allen Hudson, Jr. (Lisa); his daughters Missy Lunceford (Michael) and Denise Mercil (Kevin), and grandchildren Blayne Mercil (Amber), Kathryn Mercil, John Lunceford, Anna Lunceford, April Hudson, and Cal Hudson and his brother Tom Hudson (Mary) and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was born in Pascagoula, MS to Thomas Warner Hudson and Lily Hendrickson on May 4, 1928.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Laura Marie Stebbins and Nell Blankenship.

He graduated from Pascagoula High School, Mississippi College, and the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. His life work was pasturing. Preaching, and teaching God's plan for life. He was a pastor of several churches in Mississippi while in school and in Louisiana for 30 years. He was on staff of the New Orleans Baptist Seminary, working with their off campus classes in Shreveport, LA, Clinton, MS, and Birmingham, AL. A master wood craftsman, Carl's furniture and wooden art pieces were gifts of time and love.

A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday August 27, 2013 in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church Jackson, with visitation beginning at 10 AM.

Mrs. Dee Crenshaw Blankenship, 77, of Raymond passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Central Mississippi Medical Center [Jackson, Hinds Co., MS].

Graveside services are 11am Friday in Lakewood Memorial Park.

Dee was born in 1935 in Isola, MS her parents are the late Earnest Crenshaw and Era Winstead Crenshaw. She attended Moorehead Jr. College. Dee was a longtime resident of the Jackson area and was a member of First Baptist Church in Jackson. She was the owner of Dee's Florist until she retired in 1980.

She leaves behind her loving family, her husband of 58 years, Jack Blankenship, Sr. of Raymond, her son, Jack Blankenship, Jr. also of Raymond, a daughter; Gency Kimmons (Jim) of Brandon, and one sister; Nancy Reynolds of Meridain, a host of friends and extended family.

Clara Steele Perry, 90, died Sunday, March 30, 2014, at The Meadows. She was born Dec. 12, 1923, to Ezra and Glendolen Grissom Steele. She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Baptist Church. She enjoyed flower gardening.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, at McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Dr. Don Baggett officiating. Burial will be in Harden's Chapel Cemetery.

Survivors include one son, Larry F. Perry (Barbara) of Fulton; one brother, James Steele (Josie) of Fulton; five sisters, Stella Russell, Ruth Justice, Jean Blankenship and Barbara Steele, all of Fulton, and Anna Volts (Keith) of Virginia; one granddaughter, Angela Davis (Mark); three grandsons, Chris Perry (Pam), Eric Perry and Matt Perry; and four great-grandchildren.

Stella V. Russell, 90, died Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, at The Meadows. She was born Oct. 14, 1925, to Ezra and Glendolan Grissom Steele.

She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and a homemaker. She enjoyed quilting, flowers, and yard work. She loved her cat, Sparky.

Survivors include one brother, James Steele of Fulton; four sisters, Ruth Justice of Fulton, Jean Blankenship of Troy, Missouri, Anna Vogts of Hedgesville, W.V., and Barbara Steele of Amory; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Teddy B. Russell; two sisters, Clara Perry and Millie Blan; one brother, Glenn Steele; and her parents.

Services will be at 11 a. m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, at McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. David Haynes officiating. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Blankenship, Jeff Rascher, Ceaser Herrera, and Steven Martinez.

Survivors include her daughter, Diana Ruth Hickman, of Fulton; five grandchildren; one brother, James Steele, of Fulton; and three sisters, Jean Blankenship of Missouri, Anna Vogts of Virginia, and Barbara Steele of Fulton.

Private burial was held on Friday, December 16, at the Harden's Chapel Cemetery.

Mickey Burns Hudspeth was called home by her heavenly Father April 15, 2014, after a lengthy illness. Mickey was born June 18, 1926 to Robert and Rosie (Turner) Bolin in Elkmont, Alabama.

She attended school in Willie Springs and graduated from Ardmore High School in Ardmore, AL. After high school Mickey moved to Jackson Mississippi to work for General Electric. It was in Jackson that she met the love of her life Ralph Estes Burns. They were married in 1950 and had two children Ralph Jr. and Debra Ann. Mickey worked for the Clarion Ledger for a number of years until she retired.

After the untimely death of Ralph Sr. Mickey was blessed to be able to share the rest of her life with a kind and loving man, Willie Clyde Hudspeth. Mickey and Clyde were married in 1974 in Jackson and shared a home together in south Jackson until 2011 when illness and injuries required them to move to an assisted living facility. Mickey and Clyde enjoyed spending time together gardening and cooking. They also enjoyed traveling. They attended the annual Bolin family reunion in Alabama and took trips west to visit Clyde's daughter in Nebraska and Mickey's son in Colorado and Wyoming. Mickey loved writing and journaled daily. She also wrote poetry. Her writings are treasures for her family to enjoy for years to come.

Mickey was one of nine children; she had four sisters and four brothers. She was preceded in death by her parents Bob and Rosie, sisters, Mildred Hatchett, Dorothy "Christine" Aultman and brothers, Gafton Bolin and Turner Bolin. She was also preceded in death by her husband Clyde (February 2014), daughter Debra Ann and step-son Richard.

She is survived by her sisters Macie Blankenship (Nashville, TN), Peggy Raper (Kilmichael, MS), and brothers Carl Dean Bolin (Brookwood, AL) and Kenneth Bolin (Saraland, AL). Mickey is also survived by her son Ralph (Lita) Burns (Coeur d'Alene, ID); step-daughter Barbara (Lane) Pitcher; three grandchildren Matthew and Marie Burns and Jessica Burrell (Ridgeland, MS); step-grandchildren Jeremy and Tyler Hudspeth (Clinton, MS), Molly Bussard and Sara Pitcher (Thornton, CO); four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are planned for 1 PM in the chapel at Lakewood Funeral Home, 6011 Clinton Boulevard with internment to follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Wayne Chester Machado, 76 [1939], of Ocean Springs, MS passed away peacefully in his home after a brief illness on Friday, October 9, 2015. The son of Evelyn and Chester Machado, Wayne was born in New Orleans where he spent a happy childhood playing in his 9th Ward neighborhoods and fishing in Lake Pontchartrain with his uncles and cousins.

Wayne graduated from St. Aloysius High School and received his B.S. Degree from Southwestern Louisiana University and his M.S. Degree from Louisiana State University. He worked for many years as an Entomologist and General Manager for Mosquito Control Inc., a job he loved. Wayne was one who rejoiced in life, his beloved family, friends, fishing (especially for Speckled Trout), building and flying RC Airplanes and watching LSU and Saints football. A highlight of his year was his annual retreat at Manresa in Convent, LA. Most beautiful to him was first light on the marsh on a clear October morning. Wayne's engaging personality, exuberant sense of humor, quick wit and incomparable laughter delighted those who knew him. His joyful "Wayne" smile will be foremost in the memories of those who loved him.

Wayne was preceded in death by his eldest son, Troy Malone.

He is remembered with deepest affection by his wife, Letitia Galbraith Machado; his sister, Valerie DePriest; as well as his children, Jennifer (Jon) Blankenship, Michael (Heather) Machado, Pamela Godbold, Mark Machado and Theron (Jamie) Malone. He is also remembered by his dear grandchildren, Ava and Alexa Blankenship, Scarlett and Annabelle Machado, Gracie and John Landry Godbold, Raley Malone and Miranda and Devon Malone. A special thanks to Jackie Blankenship and Southern Care Hospice Services who gently and expertly guided his family through Wayne's last days.

There will be a graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery in Ocean Springs on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 12:00 pm with a reception to follow at the home of the family.

William Aaron Versiga, 80 of Moss Point passed from this life on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 in Pascagoula. He was born July 13, 1935 in Mobile, Alabama.

Mr. Versiga was a 1955 graduate of Pascagoula High School. He served in the National Guard and owned and operated Aaron's Auto Service for over thirty years in Pascagoula.

Mr. Versiga was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Septy and Mildred Blankenship Versiga; and brother, Kenneth Versiga.

Stanley Joseph Santa Cruz, age 82 [1933] of St. Martin, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2016.

Mr. Santa Cruz, a lifelong resident of D'Iberville, graduated from Biloxi High School where he held state records in track. He served in the United States Air Force and worked at Ingalls as a Marine Electrician.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Delphin and Doris Broadus Santa Cruz; and his sister, Lorraine Darst.

He is survived by his wife, Rosalie King Santa Cruz of St. Martin; his children, Sandy Lehrke of Tampa, FL, Robin Green (David) of Woolmarket, Diane Blankenship (Patrick) of Baton Rouge, and Helen Gresham (Ronald) of St. Martin; his sister, Mary Lois Bond of Perkinston; nine grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Bill Beaty Blankenship, 82 [1933], died Thursday, March 12, 2015, at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Oxford. Visitation will be held Sunday from 1-3 p.m. at Waller Funeral Home.

A native of Monet, Ark., Blankenship graduated from Memphis Technical High School in 1950. He enrolled in the Air Force National Guard and was activated during the Korean War. He attended Union University in Jackson, Tenn., due to the GI Bill education benefits program and graduated with a B.S. degree in mathematics. He played baseball for Union University and was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Blankenship also was a founding member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Chapter at Memphis State University. He was a hotel and real estate developer, an avid golfer, duck hunter, and fisherman and was loved by his family and friends for his sense of humor and loving nature. He was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church in Memphis, and the Open Door Church in Lexington, Ky.

Blankenship was preceded in death by his siblings, Adrian Blankenship, Doris Curreri, Jack Blankenship, Maxine Goetzman, and Carline D'Errico.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Elizabeth Cooper; his children, Amy Domke of Kansas City, Mo., Barrie Van Cleave of Oxford and B. Scott Blankenship of Hernando; his sister, Pat B. Wellons of Lexington, Ky.; and five grandchildren.

Colonel Jerrell (Pete) Pannell (retired Mississippi National Guard), died Monday, May 23, 2016 at the Mississippi State Veteran's Home in Oxford, MS. Colonel Pannell was born November 25, 1932 in New Albany, MS.

Colonel Pannell was lovingly known as "Pete" to his family and many friends, and Poppi to his grandchildren. He graduated from New Albany High School and attended Northeast Mississippi Junior College. He was a graduate of the Commander General Staff College and the National Defense University in Washington, D.C. Pannell served in the Mississippi National Guard for 33 years. He served the New Albany unit as Company Commander as well as the 155th unit (Tupelo) in Laurel and McComb, MS. He retired at the rank of Colonel serving with the Mississippi National Guard Headquarters in Jackson, MS. Pannell also served on the Mississippi National Guard Rife Team for 25 years as distinguished marksman.

In addition to his service to his country, Pete was in business with his father at Pannell Plumbing & Electric for a number of years. He and his sons founded Pannell Farms in the 1970's and he retired from Pannell Farms in 2006. Pannell served on the Board of Directors for Union County Co-Op, founding member of the Jaycees and on the Oaks Country Club Board. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church in New Albany and served on the Board of Trustees. He was a member of the Hugh Clayton Sunday School class.

Pete and his wife, Mary Tate, enjoyed sharing their houseboat at J. P. Coleman State Park with friends and family as well as chaperoning high school trips to Cancun and Pueto Vallarta. He loved fishing and sightseeing with his many friends at the J. P. Coleman dock. He was very proud of his sons and grandchildren.

Pete is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Tate McGill Pannell. He is also survived by three sons, Mike (Cheryl), Mark (Laura) of New Albany, MS and Jeff (Deonne) of Columbia TN. His grandchildren are Courtney (CoCo) Pannell of Washington, DC, Mary Kate Blankenship (Mark) of Milan, TN and Matthew Pannell of New Albany, MS. Step grandchildren include Jesse Cooper and family, Anna Cooper Ellis and family and Amy Cooper.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Boyce and Ulaler Pannell and sister, Sylvia Russell, nephew Johnny Russell, parents-in-law Ralph and Mary Eliza McGill, brother-in-law Ralph Duncan McGill and his wife and children (Jennie Horton McGill, Beth and Mary McGill).

The service will be Wednesday, May 25, 2016 in the Sanctuary of First United Methodist Church at 1pm. Reverend Barry Male and Reverend Jeff Lawrence will be officiating. A private family service will be held at Memorial Park, adjacent to United Funeral Home. Honorary Pall bears will be the Hugh Clayton Sunday School class.

Oren Hall Crowson, Sr., 97, died Friday, July 29, 2016, at Baptist Desoto Hospital in Southaven, [DeSoto Co., MS]. Born in Denmark, Mississippi, to the late Sarah Adeline Hall and Richard Poston Crowson.

Mr. Crowson served in the United States Army during World War II, from 1941-1943. A longtime member of First Baptist Church, he retired as the Building and Grounds Supervisor at North Mississippi Regional Center.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Denton Crowson; two sisters, Beulah Mae Winter and Cornelia Winter and a brother, Ira Lee Crowson.

Survivors include his son, Oren "Butch" Crowson, Jr. and his wife, Joan of Hernando; two grandchildren, Richard Crowson of Sioux City, Iowa and Meredith Blankenship of Hernando, and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Poore was a member of Meridian East Gideon Camp and for years was in charge of the Gideon Card Ministry which enabled the Gideons to distribute scriptures all over the world to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was a member of American Legion Post 125 and Forty and Eight.

Charles Lee Snowden Charles Lee Snowden was born March 1, 1923, to Ody Lee and Julia Snowden.

He had two siblings, Fred Snowden and the late Ruth Blankenship.

He was a World War II veteran and had retired as a general contractor. After his retirement, he enjoyed gardening with friends, but most of all he enjoyed being with his family.

He is survived by his wife of seventy-two years and the love of his life, Rita Snowden. Together, they had two sons, Rick Snowden and his late wife Carol Ann and Tim Snowden and his wife, Sherry. He had five grandsons, Dan Snowden, Andrew Snowden and his wife, Carolyn, Matt Snowden and his wife, Meredith, Mark Snowden and his wife, Natalie and Brian Snowden and his wife, Sarah Beth. He especially loved his great-grandchildren, Dalton, Robin, Hallie, Molly Katherine, Wes, Sierra, Mia, John Taylor, Ella, Mackenlee, Logan and Ethan Snowden. He also loved his church and served as a deacon.

Mr. Snowden died Monday, November 25, 2013, at his home.

There will be a private family funeral and Robert Barham Family Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.

A private family service will be held for James Fred Snowden, with Dr. Jason Bird officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Snowden, 94, of Meridian, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Anderson Regional Medical Center.

He was a member of Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church and was former co-owner of O. L. Snowden and Sons Construction Company.

Survivors include his daughters, Judy Snowden Dement and husband, Johnny and Becky Snowden Wright and husband, Charles all of Meridian; five grandchildren: Scott Dement, Corey Dement Weed, Snowden Wright, Taff Wright, and Parker Wright; three great-grandchildren: Avery, Campbell, and Maddie; and a very dear friend and companion, Doris B. Martin.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Snowden; parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Snowden; brother, Charles Snowden; and sister, Ruth Blankenship.

James Douglas Robison, 77, passed away Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at his home after a long illness, surrounded by family. He was born Jan. 25, 1937, to James Boyd and Lucille House Robison.

He graduated from Cedar Hill High School in 1955 and went to work in his father's tractor business and dairy buisness. He remained in the farm implement business and became owner of Robison Implement Company, specializing in Massey Ferguson farm equipment. Later he became co-owner of Robison & Woods Tractor Company, where he traveled extensively to Yugoslavia and conducted international business in the Empire State Building in New York City. The last company he co-owned was Robison and Grissom Tractor Company, where he traveled internationally conducting business in India. He was a faithful member of Victory Baptist Church and a 32nd degree Mason. He was veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Japan. He also served in the National Guard.

Services will be noon today, Feb. 15, at Waters Funeral Home Chapel in Baldwyn with Bro. Johnny Hatcher and Bro. Darin Brown Officiating. Burial will be in Camp Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Vert Pettigo, Hal Grissom, Thomas Flanagin, Chris Floyd, George Self, Mike Robison, James Gordon Robison and Billy Robison. Kay T. Brown, 94, went to be with the Lord Monday, January 31, 2011, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A native of Fulton, she was born May 1, 1916, to Davis E. and Carra Lee Burch Thorn.

She worked for Kruger Industries until she retired. She loved reading, especially her Bible and the newspaper. She enjoyed working in her yard, especially her flower garden, family get-togethers and was devoted to her family. She was the widow of Fletcher Ellis who died in 1935 and her second husband, John H. Brown who died in 1956. She was a member of Oak Ridge Christian Church.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Dale Carr officiating. Burial will be in Andrews Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dwayne Westmoreland, Dwayne Franks, Chad Blankenship, Kevin Herring, Jason Crump, and William Heard.

Martha Jewell Montgomery, 91, died March 4, 2015, at Longwood Community Living Center. Her parents were John David Andrews and Addie Mae Blankenship. She was born December 1, 1923, in the Palestine community, outside of West Point.

She finished school at Moutpilier. While at school, she loved playing basketball. She was given the nickname ""Doodie"" as a child. All her nieces and nephews called her ""Aunt Doodie."" She was also called ""little maw-maw"" by her grandchildren. She had 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was a member of Birmingham Ridge Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and worked at North Mississippi Medical Center as an aide and ward secretary. She loved sewing, working in her garden and her family.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2015, at the Saltillo Chapel of W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors with the Rev. Bobby Holland and Sammy Lansdell officiating. Private graveside service will be at McNeil Cemetery. . Pallbearers will be Doug Montgomery, Adam Montgomery, Jason Montgomery, Casey Montgomery, Leland Cox, John David Montgomery and Jake Montgomery.

John Whitten Street, 88, died Friday, March 28, 2014, at The Veteran's Home in Oxford, [Lafayette Co., MS]. He was born April 15, 1925, in Tippah County, Mississippi, to Effie Whitten Street and Vibrait Lee Street.

He grew up in Dumas, Mississippi, and graduated from Dumas High School in 1943. He served in WWII in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946 as a radio code reader on the USS Sommelsdijk in the South Pacific. He graduated from MSU in 1950 with a BS. in education. He coached two years of basketball at Pine Grove, taking his teams to the state playoffs. He then began a 38-year career with MS Dept. of Transportaion where he retired as a Senior Engineering Technician. He was an avid Mississippi State fan. He enjoyed reading and spending time with his granddaughters. He was an active member of Gloster St. Church of Christ for more than 50 years.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. today, March 30, 2014, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Minister Chad Ramsey officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Russell Street, Robin Street, Eric Street, M.D., Randy Monaghan, Jeff Monaghan, Brian Monaghan, Drew Miller, Jay Blankenship, Hank Franklin, Mark Franklin, Will Weaver and Bo Reed. Jerry W. Gable, 66, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on Aug. 1, 2015, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born June 2, 1949, in Tupelo to Isaac Julius and Vera Blankenship Gable.

Jerry was employed by Nash Plumbing for several years, and then joined his brothers-in-law with B&E Plumbing in Tupelo. He went on to become a licensed plumbing contractor and carpenter servicing Northeast Mississippi for more than 35 years. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. Jerry was an accomplished craftsman, spending countless hours in his shop building things for friends and family. He also enjoyed maintaining his lawn and gardening. His greatest joy was time spent with his granddaughters. In his early years, he attended Mayfield Church of God in Saltillo and Emmanuel Baptist Church in East Tupelo. In his adult life, he followed the Baptist faith.

Services will be today, August 4, 2015, at 2 p.m. at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with the Rev. Kenneth Pollock and Rev. Larry Taylor officiating. Graveside services will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ike Gable, Tony Howard, Brian McDivitt, Roger Raines, Jeff Barnes, Joe Foster, John David Rogers and Keith Smith. Danny was employed for over thirty years by Hunter-Sadler and Lanier Clothing. He was known for his extraordinary ability to fix almost anything especially appliances. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is preceded in death by a brother Larry McNutt.

He is survived by one brother, Kenneth McNutt of Tupelo; one nephew, Bill McNutt (Beth) of Tupelo; two nieces, Laura McNutt Pannell of Pontotoc and Dallas McNutt Blankenship (Chad) of Tupelo.

Grover E. Humphres, 85, went to be with the Lord on May 19, 2015, at the Darlington Oaks Community Hospice House. He was born July 22, 1929, to Robert Albert and Fannie Mae Rackard Humphres.

He married Irene Blankenship in 1956. He was employed at Zion Bakery before returning to Mississippi. He lived in the Ozark community before moving to Verona about 40 years ago. He worked at Rockwell International and as a truck driver at Super Sagless or many years before retiring. After retirement, he worked at Tupelo Transfer for several years. He was a member of Bissell Baptist Church. He enjoyed NASCAR, fishing and gospel music.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 22, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Bro. Shane Ray and Bro. Buddy Rushing officiating. Burial will be in the Ozark Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sam Whitt, Jason George, Elvis Blankenship, Jacob Blankenship and Andy George.

He graduated from Black Hawk High School and Holmes Junior Agriculture College. He served as an M.P. in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He had worked as a route salesman for Leflore Dairy, A & M Dairy and Midwest Dairy. Later he worked for United Insurance Company, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. O.C. was an avid outdoorsman and loved to garden.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Verna Quinn Mims.

Mr. Mims is survived by a son, Bill Mims of Greenwood, and his wife, Beverly; two granddaughters, Holly Mims Rayesky and her husband, Joseph, and Mary Quinn Mims, all of Greenwood; a great- grandson, William Joseph Rayesky of Greenwood; and a sister, Shirley Blankinship of Columbus.

Mrs. Smith, 52, died Tuesday Oct. 1, 2013. in Greenwood due to an automobile accident. She was born in Winona on July 19, 1961, to Thomas Eugene and Mary Brown Vaughn and resided in Greenwood most of her life. She was a homemaker and a devoted mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her father and two sisters, Becky Blankenship and Karen Clifton.

She is survived by her husband, Fred Smith of Greenwood; three daughters, Memorie Hughes, Ashley Tharp and Jodie Wilson, all of Greenwood; two sisters, Christy Mitchell of Winona and Linda Broadway of Canton; her mother, Mary Vaughn of Winona; and four grandchildren.

Mrs. Griffin, 96, died Monday, March 14, 2016, at King's Daughters Medical Center in Brookhaven. She was born on Aug. 5, 1919, in the Oldenburg community to Pat and Lula Bedford McKinney.

She was a member of McCall Creek Baptist Church and also attended the First Baptist Church of Bude. She enjoyed gardening and working in her yard. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Pat and Lula Bedford McKinney; step-father, Milton Seale; husband, Curtis Griffin; son, David Griffin; son-in-law, Proby Ballard; granddaughter, Robin Moreton; five sisters; and six brothers.

Twannie T. King, age 83, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at her residence in Caledonia.

She was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was well known for her coconut and pecan pies and other recipes she prepared for church and family.

Mrs. King was born on Saturday, August 31, 1929, in Carthage, MS to the late Walter Gray Thigpin and Katie Fields Thigpin Saxon. She was a member of Broadacres United Methodist Church and was a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Emily Thigpin; her brother, George Thigpin; great-niece, Karen Robertson Jefcoat; and her son-in-law, Lane Blankenship.

Lyda Beatrice Fromm, age 90, died Sunday, March 14, 2010 at Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle in Columbus. She was born on Sunday, November 16, 1919 in Artesia, MS to the late Columbus Lonzo and Bobbie Turner Blankenship.

Mrs. Fromm was a member of the Seventh Street Church of Christ and retired in 1982 after 27 years as a line operator for American Bosch. At her retirement party, her co-workers presented her with a rocking chair, because she had told them that after she retired, she was going to sit in her rocking chair and watch her favorite soap operas . As a retired mother and grandmother, she enjoyed cooking and cooked daily for her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband John William Fromm Jr. and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include one son Mickey Fromm (Margie) of Columbus, and two sisters Jamie B. Dagress of Columbus and Bessie Sawyer of Bunky, LA. She is also survived by her grandchildren Michael A. Fromm Jr. (Kay), William L. "Bill" Fromm and Pamela Dawn Renfrow ( Sam ) and great grandchildren Marisa Fromm, Caitlyn Fromm, Tyler Renfrow, Braeden Renfrow, Landon Renfrow and Tanner Fromm and a host of nieces and nephews.

The son of the late Willie Edgar and Mary Belle Odum Blankenship, he was born September 20, 1944 in Mayhew, MS. He attended S. D. Lee Senior High School and served five years in A Btry., 2/114 FA, MS Army National Guard, during which time the unit was activated as a result of the Integration crisis at the University of MS in 1962. Mr. Blankenship retired in 2000 from Omnova Solutions as a Production Control Manager after 37 years of employment. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He was also a Big, big fan of Alabama Football, and loved to play golf and bowl. He also enjoyed fishing and camping. For many years the Blankenship brothers spent three weeks each year to watch spring training for the Atlanta Braves.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brothers Willie Edgar Blankenship, Jr., George William Blankenship and his brother-in-law Tommy Buchanan.

Mr. Blankenship is survived by his wife Shirley Davis Blankenship, his son and daughter-in-law Dwayne and Paige Blankenship, his daughter Camille Blankenship Short, all of Columbus and his daughter Donna Blankenship Jackson of West Palm Beach, FL. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Larry and Barbara Blankenship of Raymond, MS and his sisters and brother-in-law Mary V. and Sidney Thompson and Betty Buchanan, all of Columbus and sisters-in-law Suki Blankenship of Gulfport, MS and Linda Blankenship of Bean Station, TN. Other survivors include his six grandchildren Lindsay Blankenship, Emma Blankenship, Carly Short, Harper Short, Mitch Jackson and Myles Jackson and two great-grandchildren Alexa Grissom and Gadsden Goforth.

He served in the United States Navy for a number of years and retired in 1992 from the Columbus Air Force Base Civil Service. Mr. Dusenberry was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church and the Kemper County Hunting Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marge Randles, Mary Randles and Patty Robertson; brother, Dick Dusenberry; son, Randy Dusenberry; and grandson, Dustin Bush. He enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids and enjoyed hunting and the outdoors.

William Stennis Vail, age 78, of Columbus, MS, passed away September 17, 2017, at his residence. He was born and raised in Caledonia, MS, to the late Jesse Michael and Minnie Bell Partain Vail.

Mr. Vail was a 1957 graduate from Caledonia High School and attended Draughon's Business College in Jackson, MS, where he earned a degree in accounting. William was a member of Freewill Baptist Church in Vernon, AL.

William Stennis and his wife, Charlene Vail, moved their family from Dyer, TN, back to Caledonia, MS, with his job at Ceco Buildings in Columbus where he retired years later. He had a huge passion and love for all children and pets. He gave numerous donations to the Palmer Home of Columbus, Columbus Lowndes Humane Society, and Wildlife Conservation.

He has left behind lots of friends, family, class mates, and coworkers that cared for him deeply and he will never be forgotten. The family wishes to thank all friends, neighbors, and the staff of Camellia Hospice of Columbus.

He will be laid to rest at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery where both of his parents and his two sons Michael Vail and Clayton Vail lay to rest.

He was the leader of the Boston Butt Barbecue Fundraiser for the Trinity Healthcare Family Group, former member and past president of the Tombigbee Stump Jumpers Ski Club, where he loved driving his Hydrodyne ski boat for family and friends. He was a past member of the Twelve Man Supper Club, the Chittlin Club, chief cook for the Barnyard Roasters Barbecue Competition cooking team, Memphis Barbecue Network, former country & western dance instructor, team leader of the Possum Town Boot Scooters, and team leader of the Jug Town Stompers. He was an avid Mississippi State sports fan, he loved his Bulldogs, and Will Clark, former MSU baseball player. Mickey lived life to the fullest and loved his family and friends with all his heart. He was very proud of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchild. Mickey will be remembered as a caring person, and always willing to help others.

Robert Lee Gray, Sr. of Crawford, MS went to be with the Lord on October 15, 2014 at Starkville Manor Nursing home. born June 22, 1929, Mr. gray was the son of Thomas Carroll (bud) Gray and Judy Dell Edwards Gray of Crawford.

A lifelong resident of Oktibbeha County Mr. Gray attended Crawford Elementary school and graduated from Artesia High School, he was also a lifelong member of Bethesda Baptist Church. He attended hinds Community College on a football scholarship. Mr. Gray returned to Crawford where he became the fourth generation of his family to own and operate Gray Farms, which continues its operation by the fifth generation of the Gray-Edwards family.

He was pre-deased by his loving wife of 52 years Martha Deana Blankenship Gray. As one of ten children he was predeased by siblings William Guy (bud) Gray of Hattiesburg, Thomas Carroll (T.C.) Gray , Jr, John Franklin (bully) Gray , and Sam Fitzgerald Gray all of Starkville and Howard Fredrick Gray of Crawford; and granddaughter, Rachel Joy Kilpatrick.

He is survived by his children, Mary "De-Lynn" Willard (Brian) of Nesbit, MS, and Robert Lee "bubba" Gray , Jr. (Shirley) of Crawford, MS; grandchildren, Jessica Lynn K. Eleanor Anna Winkler Phillips, 85, passed away August 16, 2012. She was born Feb 23, 1927 in Bismarck, ND.

Visitation will be from 12 noon until 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18 at the Flora United Methodist Church with services at 2 PM followed by burial in Flora Cemetery.

All that knew Eleanor, knew of her love and compassion for children especially babies. She not only dedicated her life to raising her own four but also through her work as a child care provider, she enriched the lives of many children. She was a hard worker with a childlike personality. She had a love for life, animals, sweets, practical jokes, pulling slot machine handles and yelling Bingo.

A native of Bessemer, Alabama, Mr. Blankenship was a United States Marine and served during the Korean War. He has resided in Madison for the past 20 years.

He is preceded in death by his wife Mary Blankenship and survived by his daughter, Julia Marie Blankenship of Florence; sons, Ed Blankenship (wife Megan) of Madison, David Mattox (wife Dianne) of Madison and Mark Blankenship of Paris, TN. A native of Columbia, she was a housewife and a member of Truevine Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Irene Collins; daughter, Denise Blankinship; son, Larry Collins and brother, Lafayette Collins.

Survivors include daughters, Diane Stokes (Raymond Sr.) of Oakland, Calif. and Sherry Mikell (Johnny) of Columbia; sister, Ethel C. Our Beloved Monie, Mrs. Ramona B. Dean, went to meet her Saviour on Thursday, December 22, 2016, at her home in Aberdeen. She died peacefully surrounded by her family and friends after a long and courageous battle with COPD and an essential tremor. Mrs. Ramona was born January 2, 1942, in Fayette, AL, the daughter of the late Ras Norman and Jennie Bob "Jinks" Shelton Blankenship.

Mrs. Ramona retired after 30 years as a Lab-Tech at Kerr McGee in Hamilton. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Aberdeen. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed traveling to watch her two granddaughters in their sporting events. She was an avid and accomplished cook that enjoyed baking. She enjoyed Mississippi State University Football. She enjoyed listening to music, especially Elvis Presley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter: Terri Thompson and by one Brother: Buddy Blankenship.

Survivors include Her Husband Leroy Dean of Aberdeen; One Daughter, Peggy Thompson of Aberdeen; Two Sons, Rodney Thompson of Bradford, Ark., and Derrick Thompson (Tiffany) of Aberdeen; Two Granddaughters: Madeline and McKinley Dean both of Aberdeen.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at 2:00 P.M. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Richard Burton officiating. Burial will follow in Mayhew Cemetery in Mayhew. Charles Blankenship, 86, passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2016, at his residence. Born on December 2, 1930, in Sardis, TN, he was a son of the late James Thomas and Beulah Leslie Phillips Blankenship.

Charles was a graduate of Chester County High School, Henderson, TN. He honorably served in the US Army during the Korean War. On December 24, 1967, he married Reba Christine Armstrong Glenn. Charles was an insurance agent for National Life Insurance Company and he sold insurance to the public for twenty years. He also was the owner, with his wife, of Hob Nob Shoe Store, for 15 years, and he was an excellent shoe repairman. His focus in life was on God and his family. Charles was an active member of the St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, having served as a Sunday school teacher and on the Administrative Board. His greatest joy was spending time with family and friends

Passionate about giving back, Charles was a Mason, a Shriner, a member of the Kiwanis Club and the Lion's Club. As a Shriner, he was very active with children and made many trips to the Burn Center. Always staying busy, Charles, also known as "Mr. Fix-It," loved working on his many projects. Fun-loving and having a great sense of humor, he enjoyed gardening, golfing and listening to Gospel music.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Reba Blankenship; his first wife, June Evelyn Roberson; and brother, James Thomas Blankenship.

He is survived by his daughter, Ronda Daon Blankenship Taylor, Oxford; step-son, Jimmy Glenn (Theresa), Amory; grandchildren, Laken Lane Taylor and June Nichole Taylor, Oxford; Todd Glenn, Corey Glenn, Jimmy Ann Ray and Allen Glenn, Amory; great-grandchildren, Neely Grace, Jackson and Henley Shaw Taylor; Gregory and Mason Glenn; Ryan Ray; Aubrey Glenn; Riley Ray; Bryce, Anna Kate and Drew Glenn; niece and nephew, Carol Kelley; Mark Blankenship.

His Funeral Service will be at 2PM, Wednesday, December 28 at St. Andrews United Methodist Church, Amory, with Rev. Brian Gordon officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery. Beverly graduated from Aberdeen High School with the Class of 1972. She retired from Southern Natural and Edward D. Jones.

Born May 3, 1931, in the Trace Road community of Monroe County, he was a son of Winnie R. and Sallie Humphries Wright. He was a Baptist whose family was an important part of his life. He was a farmer before his retirement and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, horseback riding and wood carving.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with Bro. Jessie Betts officiating. Burial will be in Smithville Cemetery.

Survivors include two sisters, Lois Rollins of Hatley and Emolene Bolling of Waukegan, Ill.; one brother, James Wallace Wright of Hatley; and a special friend, John Kuykendall.

Rebecca Dianne Vaughn Blankenship, 50, of Winona died at her residence on Wednesday, April 10. 

A memorial service for Ms. Blankenship will be held at a later date. Ms. Blankenship was a former employee of St. Dominic's Hospital in Jackson.  She was a wonderful grandmother and a very laid back person.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Rayburn Leo Whitworth; her second husband, Thomas N. Pinnix; a daughter, Sandra Faye Whitworth Blankenship; two sisters and four brothers.

Services for Ila Lee Brown of Winona were at 11 a.m. today at Lee Funeral Home in Winona. Mrs. Brown, 92, died of respiratory failure Thursday, Dec. 25, 2014, at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital in Winona. Mrs. Brown was born Monday, Aug. 28, 1922, to the late William H. and Ronnie Lou Putman.

She was a former employee of McGregor Manufacturing and a member of the Beam Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church in Winona.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by three children, Jerry Brown, Billy Joe Brown, and Bobbie Lee Mosley; and four grandchildren, Billy R. Collins Jr., Karen Clifton, Sharon Smith and Rebecca Blankenship.

Mrs. Brown is survived by three daughters, Berniece Erwin Collins, Mary Lee Erwin Vaughn and Brenda Jean Brown Dismoore; three sons, William C. Erwin, Aubrey L. Erwin and Thomas Ladell Mosley; 24 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Visitation was from 4 until 6 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. today until service time at the funeral home. The Rev. John L. Walker and Dr. Tim Mims officiated at the services. Pallbearers were Barry Collins, Brandon Burnett, Casey Dodd, Tyler Dodd, Benji Collins, Bruce Collins, Dustin Blankenship, and Mason Blankenship. Quentin Thomas Myers, 29, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital in Winona. He was born in Greenwood to Eddie (Jr.) and Candedia Myers.

He worked as parts manager for Transport Service Center in Winona and also worked at Bob Black Towing. He served as a member of Winona and Duck Hill fire departments and was a member of North Park Church of God in Greenwood. He loved his children and all things firefighting.

He is preceded in death by his father, Eddie Myers Jr., and a sister, Elizabeth Mathes.

He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Myers of Winona; five sons, Dennis Overbey, Matthew Blankenship, Christopher Overbey, Hayden Overbey and Gabriel Overbey; daughter Abbigayle Overbey; sister Dustie Hood of Carrollton; and his special niece, Hailie Mathes. He is also survived by his family of firefighters of Winona and Duck Hill fire departments and coworkers of Bob Black Towing.

He is survived by his daughters, Kay Edwards of Brandon and Lynn Gray (Steven) of Southaven; son, Ronnie Blankenship of Greenwood; sister, Angie Blankenship McGinnis of Sturgis; sister-in-law, Joyce Blankenship of Kansas City, Kansas; brothers, Billy Blankenship of Sturgis, Jerry Collins of Lamar, Archie Collins of Weir and Charles Collins of Longview; grandchildren, Sachia Poole, Dana Edwards, Megan Edwards, Sarah gray, Dustin Blankenship and Mason Blankenship; and six great grandchildren.

Mildred Floyd Stickley of Starkville, Mississippi died at Oktibbeha County Hospital on October 24, 2014. She was a native of Lexington, Virginia. The daughter of the late Robert Henry Floyd and Julia Hartless Floyd, she had lived throughout the northeast and south and had retired in Mississippi.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen R. Stickley, Jr.

Mrs. Stickley was a graduate of Fairfield High School, Fairfield, Virginia and a graduate of Western Kentucky University, Bowling Green, Kentucky. She was a retired medical record professional from Mississippi State University, College of Veterinary Medicine. She was an avid bridge player and worked at least two crossword puzzles each day. She had friends throughout the states she had resided in, and loved to travel. She was active in many clubs, the First Presbyterian Church and a hospital auxiliary volunteer for many years.

She is survived by two daughters, Heather Stickley Cable of Olive Branch, MS (Frank) and Holly Stickley Crystal of Jackson, MS (Bucky); a grandson, Reed Allan Cable; and sisters Meta F. Loudermilk, Akron, OH; Alice F. Myers, Columbus, OH; Louise F. Weber, Gahanna, OH; Magdalene F. Traster, Reynoldsburg, OH; Eula F. Wade, Richboro, PA and Peggy F. Blankenship, Carmichael, CA. She is also survived by nieces and nephews and their families.

Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Starkville, Mississippi Monday, October 27, 2014, with a memorial service following at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Floyd family plot in Green Hill Cemetery, Buena Vista, VA on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. The ashes of her deceased husband, Allen R. Stickley, Jr. will be buried with her.

Billy Roy McCollum, 76, passed away on July 16, 2016 at his residence in Starkville, MS. 

He was a Machinist with the Physics Department at Mississippi State University and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Starkville.  He enjoyed the outdoors and he loved to hunt, fish, car racing and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill McCollum and Myrtle Blankenship McCollum.

He is survived by his wife, Lou McCollum of Starkville, MS; daughters, Laura Clark (Kevin) of Birmingham, AL and Leslie Peterson of Fulton, MS; and grandchildren, Shannon Sullivan, Brittany Sullivan, Hunter Clark and Avery Clark.

Annie Elizabeth Blankenship Turner, 94, passed away on August 5, 2016 at Vickers Personal Care Home in Mathiston, [Webster Co.,] Ms. She was born in Siloam, MS on February 22, 1922 to Wallace and Annie Lee Blankenship.

Elizabeth lived in West Point and graduated from West Point High School. At the young age of 19, she became a secretary for Bryan Brothers, when they first opened for a short time. She then married her true love, Edward Wiley "Punk" Turner, on September 19, 1942. They lived in Starkville, MS and raised three sons John, Mike, and Mark. "Punk" predeceased her in January, 1978.

Elizabeth retired from the MS State Extension Service after 22 years of service. Elizabeth loved to spend her spare time completing crossword puzzles, traveling, spending time with her family, listening to Elvis Presley gospel music, and watching her favorite television shows. She was a devout Christian and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Starkville for over 70 years.

Elizabeth was also predeceased by her parents, a sister, Dot Smith, and her grand-daughter Hope Turner.

She is survived by her sons, Mark (Gloria) Turner of West Point, Mike (Dale)Turner of Trussville, AL and John Turner of Gerradstown, West Virginia, sisters Virginia Mills and Colleen Culm. Grandchildren are Leslie (Stephen) Scott, Mark Turner Jr., John Turner, and Brian(Ellen) Turner, Michael(Connie) Turner, Amy(Rick) Schwartz, and 11 great-grand children-Abby, Sarah, and LaurenScott, Trey and Trevor Turner, Breanna, Gracie, and Kylie Turner, Elizabeth and Dillon Turner, and Ricky Schwartz, and her special caregivers at Vickers Personal Care Home in Mathiston,MS.

She is a body donor to University Medical Center in Jackson. There will be a visitation and memorial service at First United Methodist Church in West Point, MS on Tuesday, August 9, from 2:30-3:30 with Pastor Darian Duckworth presiding. A private graveside service will be held for family only, at a later date.

Our brother in Christ, Virgil Norris Bolin, joined our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Heaven on October 23rd, 2016 from a lengthy battle with cancer. Mr. Bolin was 80 Years of age, and a resident of Starkville, MS. He was born on August 24, 1936 in Hickory Grove, MS to Frank & Mary Bolin.

Mr. Bolin is the brother of Baby Girl Bolin, Robert Bolin, Wayne Bolin and Marshall Bolin. He was married to Lynn Blankenship Bolin on October 31, 1956 at the Artesia Methodist Church. Mr. Bolin graduated from Brooks-ville High School where he was a gifted Football & Baseball Athlete. Mr. Bolin also attended Mississippi State University.

Mr. Bolin retired from Kansas City Southern Railroad after 44 years of dedicated service where he held positions as a Switchman and Conductor, before being promoted to Train Master. Mr. Bolin was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He also proudly served the city he loved as a Starkville City Alderman.

Mr. Bolin is preceded in death by his parents Frank & Mary Bolin, his sister (Baby Girl Bolin), his brothers Robert Bolin, Wayne Bolin and Marshall Bolin, and his daughter-in-law Sandi Linley Bolin.

Mr. Bolin is survived by his loving & devoted wife of 60 years, Mrs. Lynn Blankenship Bolin, along with his Children, Keith & Alexa Bolin, Kent & Cindy Bolin, Curt & Lisa Bolin Crissey, Darrell & Cristi Bolin. Mr. Leon Usco Shook, 70, died Thursday, July 26, 2012 at his home.

Mr. Shook was born Oct. 7, 1941. Other than the love for his family, he had a great passion for fishing and gardening and most of all, helping others. He was generous with his vegetable garden and believed in helping family and friends alike. He enjoyed his job with MSU Shuttle Operations and getting to know the students he came in contact with. Leon had a great laugh and loved making others laugh, as well. He will be remembered with great love and affection.

He is survived by his wife, Faye Fulgham Shook of Sturgis; brother, Wayne Shook (Wanda) of Douglassville, GA; sister, Wanda Shook Grantham (Tommy) of Douglasville, GA; sons, Larry Shook (Jenna), Gene Shook (Lisa), Lee Shook (Christie), and Sam Dawkins (Gina). He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Vietnam and Iraq. He attended Morgan Chapel Baptist Church near Sturgis, MS.

Evan Edward Kisela, age 80, of Picayune, MS, formerly of Ionia, Michigan, who passed away Saturday, March 17, 2018.

A native of Hobart, IN, he was a retired Instrument Technician for US Steel. Evan was a member of the Izaak Walton Conservation Club, and Ionia County Fishing and Hunting Club. He was a Beekeeper in Ionia and Montcalm Counties, and a member of the Michigan Beekeeper's Association, for several years. Evan was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, who will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Kisela and Beulah Bellinger Kisela; his sisters, Barbara Preston, Maxine Blanchard, and Linda Blankenship; and his brothers, Edward Kisela, Jr. and Charles Kisela.

He was a member of Furrs Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher Director, Training Union Director and Teacher. He was retired from Daybrite Lighting and the Grocery Business Store business. He worked as a volunteer for the East Pontotoc Water Association for over 20 years. He also served in the United States Army with the Pin-Tomic Division attached to Washington. He was a 32 Degree Mason, Shriner and Civitan member.

Survivors include: wife: Eddie Curry Wallis, Three Daughters: Jan Leach (Eddie), Jane Thomas, and Jean Harlow. Winnie Evelyn Barton, 88, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 12, 2016. She was born on April 14, 1928, to Marvin and Hattie Russell.

She was the wife of Thomas Eldridge Barton and together they had four children. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed playing the piano and was an active member of Oak Hill Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Eldridge Barton; her parents, Marvin and Hattie Russel; and one brother, Boyd Lamar Russell.

Survivors include her four children, Davis Barton (Sandra), Don Barton (Hoa), Judy Armstrong (Gregg) and Lebron Barton (Cathy); fifteen grandchildren which includes, Phillip Barton (Yvette), Stephanie Guthrie (Mark), Laura McNutt, Bill McNutt (Beth), Dallas Blankenship (Chad), Aubrey Bolen (Marty), Priscilla Howell (Corey), Sam Medley (Julie), Jared Medley (Heather), Erik Armstrong, Tammi Aass (Scott), Hannah Brasher (Justin), Jade Barton, Jeremy White (Kelli) and Kaci White; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Hazel Russell and many nieces and nephews. She leaves a life-long legacy of love and family.

William Richard "Bud" Ellett, Jr., age 71, a farmer, died Sunday, Dec. 2, at his Tutwiler home.

Bud was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorinda Avent Ellett; parents, William R. "Bill" Ellett, Sr. and Colie Thompson Ellett; daughter, Bonnie Ellett; sister, Barbara Ann Johnson; brother, John Lynn "Bo" Ellett; and granddaughter, Kayla Ballard.

Survivors include his daughter, Stephanie Melton (Billy) of Crowder; sisters, Shirley Burks of Bruce and Virginia Blankenship of Monroe, LA; grandchildren, William Nicholas "Scooter" Ellett, Will Melton, Luke Melton and Hailey Melton; and great-grandchildren, Garrett and Adelyn Ellett.

Funeral services are 2 pm, Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Friendship Baptist Church in Tutwiler, with burial following in Woodlawn Cemetery in Sumner. Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale.

Cheryl Kuhlman Nagy, 57, resident of the Pine Grove community in Tippah County, died peacefully Monday morning Feb. 15, 2016, at her residence.

A native of Detroit, Michigan, Ms. Nagy moved to Mississippi 20 years ago to be closer to her family. A former resident of New Albany, Cheryl was employed as a pharmacy technician for Wal-Mart Corporation in New Albany and Pontotoc. She was a member of Souls Harbor Apostolic Church and will be remembered for her complete love and devotion to her family. Known for her "green thumb", one of Cheryl's greatest joys was growing plants and flowers in her yard.

She leaves her children, Rob Young, Christina Young Hoyt and Amanda Nagy, all of Ripley; two sisters, Carol McCoy of Westland, Michigan and Joan Taulbee of Dearborn, Michigan; two brothers, Alan Blankenship of Etta, Mississippi and Don Kuhlman of St. John, Indiana; and four grandchildren, Kyle Brock (fiance, Veronica Chadwell) of Kossuth, Kelsey Brock and Caleb Young of Ripley and Emma Young of Thaxton.

Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 18, in the Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with burial in Lebanon Cemetery.

Helen Ophelia Lewellen James, 86, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2016, at her home in Ripley, Mississippi. She was born on October 9, 1930, to Marlin Kelly and Gertrude Alice Walker Lewellen in Tippah County, Misissippi.

Before retiring, she worked at Ripley Shoe Products and Gentry Corporation. She was a member of Shiloh Independent Methodist Church.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Marvin James; her parents; one son, Donnie Blankenship; one grandson, Robbie Blankenship; two brothers and one sister.

Helen is survived by two daughters, Charlotte McCall and Peggy Holliday, both of Ripley; four grandchildren, Jared McCoy (Lisa) of Ripley; Krystle Holliday Jackson (Mark) of Olive Branch; Lori McCoy (Wade) and Summer Lawson, both of Ripley; eight great-grandchildren, Gibson Jackson; Ridge, Ryder, Anna, Allie, and Piper Lawson; Emma and Lillie Grace Skelton

James Billy Hall, 63, died Monday, May 26, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center, [Tupelo, Lee Co., MS]. He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing and NASCAR, and he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He was a member of Alpine Water Association, a 20-year U.S. Army National Guard veteran, a member of East Tippah Sportsman Association, American Legion Post 130 and Forty and Eight. He retired from MDOT and he was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.

Services will be Thursday, May 29, at 2 p.m. at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. David Blackwell officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge cemetery. Pallbearers will be Darrell Stephens, Daniel Stephens, Anthony Stephens, West Blankenship, Don Greenwood and Austin Spence. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Carter, Ronny Downs, Ronnie Davis, Doug McGill, Mike Owens, and Jimmy McMillan.

Clarice Ila Trull Boykin age 93, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013. Ila Boykin lived at the North Mississippi Health Services Long Term Care in Eupora. She was born June 20, 1919, in Clay County. Ila Boykin was a member of Mathiston First Baptist Church and an Eastern Star. She was an avid gardener and loved sharing her bounty with her friends and relatives. Her greatest accomplishment in life was her family, whom she held close to her heart. She will be forever known as the most beautiful, caring and giving person God could create. To know Ila Boykin, was an absolute true blessing.

Funeral services are Thursday, March 14, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Welch Funeral Home. Rev. Randall Poss will conduct the service. Burial will follow in Adaton United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Ila Boykin was preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie Trull and Carrie Buckner Trull, husband, William Anton Boykin, Sr., sons, Lonnie Joe Boykin and Danny Ray Boykin, step daughters, Mary Lou Tuck and Bonnie Ruth Smith, grandsons Charles Hugh (Chuck) Shurden, Bill Smith, and Lane Blankenship. sisters, Ina Reed, Ileene Johnson and Ileese Kelly and brothers, James Trull and Carlton Trull.

She is also the beloved grandmother of eighteen beautiful grandchildren of whom she was so very proud of and a host of great and great-great grandchildren.

She was the beloved mother of Sandra Underwood (Murray), Sonny Rainwater (Anna), Linda Sullivan (Ronnie), Clayton Rainwater (Louise) and Candy Brashier (Robert). Her adoring grandchildren are Tracy Sullivan, Christy Hudson (David), Greg Underwood, Timothy Rainwater (Alice), Leslie Blankenship (Kerry), Robbie Richardson (Brent), Chance Rainwater and Katie Jowers (Martin). She is also survived by brother Charles Graham (Annie Laurie). A lifelong resident of the Wayne County communities of Hiwannee and Boice, she will be remembered for always being happy and making all around her feel special and loved.
