home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Monday at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson. Burial will be at a later
date.
She is survived by two sisters, Penny Tookey
and Juanita Blankenship , Ohio.

Raleigh M. Anderson, age 88, resident of Grand Forks, ND, formerly Tolna, ND passed away at Altru
Health System in Grand Forks, ND on Sunday, October 5, 2008. Raleigh was born
July 27, 1920 in Forde Township, Nelson County, ND to Carl Adolph and Bella (Ensrud) Anderson.
He grew up and attended school in rural Tolna.
He started farming with his father and took over the family farm when his
father died in 1944. Raleigh married Molfried Hegvick on June 26, 1948. After their marriage they lived
and farmed in rural Tolna. Raleigh retired from
active farming in 1975. They moved to Glenfield, ND
where they purchased and operated the gas station. In 1979 they moved to McVille, ND. While in McVille,
Raleigh worked for the Nelson County Highway Department and Wil-rich
Manufacturing Company. The couple moved to Devils Lake, ND and served as house
parents for a state group home. They returned to McVille
and Tolna for several years before moving to Grand
Forks where they have lived since. Raleigh loved spending time with his family
and visiting with friends. He liked telling a good joke and following current
events. He would gather his information from reading several newspapers and was
very interested in learning new things.
Raleigh will be missed and remembered by his wife Mol-fried of Grand Forks, ND; his daughter Lorray (Joe) Dervin of Tempe, AZ;
his son Connley (Sheila) Anderson of Thompson, ND; 2
grandchildren Jarod Anderson and Carrie (Eric) Voightman;
3 great grandchildren Jacob Anderson, Kalyn Voightman
and Colin Voightman; 2 sisters Viola Flaagan of McVille, ND and Lila Hermanson of McVille, ND; along
with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Raleigh was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters; Agnes Blankenship and Aleda Snortland.
Funeral services for Raleigh will be Thursday, October 9, 2008 at
11:00 AM in the Sigdal Lutheran Church, rural Tolna, ND. Interment will be in the Sigdal
Church Cemetery.

Roy Millard Baugh, 66, of Deering and rural Newburg, died Thursday,
Aug. 20, 2009, in his home near Newburg after a battle with brain cancer. Roy
was born May 12, 1943, in Key Rock, W.Va., to George and Lillie (Blankenship) Baugh. He was reared and educated in
Pineville, W.Va., and graduated from Pineville High School in 1961. Following
his graduation, he enlisted in the Air Force in August 1961. Roy married Margie
Steele on Feb. 4, 1963, in Pineville. They made their home at or near various
Air Force bases around the world, including Lackland
AFB, Texas; Chanute AFB, Rantoul, Ill.; Wright Patterson AFB, Columbus, Ohio;
Vietnam; Otis AFB, Cape Cod, Mass.; McClellan AFB, Sacramento, Calif.; Iran; Davis
Monthan AFB, Tucson, Ariz.; Grand Forks AFB; and Wurtsmith AFB, Oscoda, Mich. Following his retirement from
the Air Force in September 1981, they resided in Hatton, while he attended
Mayville State College and the North Dakota State School of Science in
Wahpeton.
Roy then entered federal civil service at Grand Forks AFB, working
in the missile fields with the RIVET MILE program before transferring to the
Civil Engineering Squadron, Armed Forces Reserve Center in Minot. After his
retirement from civil service he was employed at Minot AFB as a telephone
operator with SWR Inc. for the 5th Communications Squadron.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Jesse
Kenney; his first wife, Margie; his brothers, Robert, Luther, Jackie and James;
sisters, Ruth Acord and Mildred Spencer; stepsister, Shirley Dunlap; and
granddaughter, Nichole. Roy was a member of Deering Baptist Fellowship Church
and served on the church board. He was also a member of the National Rifle
Association, Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion and the Minot
Rifle and Pistol Club. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening,
woodworking, traveling and mechanical work.
Roy is survived by his loving family, which includes: his wife,
Ruth (Shores) Baugh; children, Jennifer (Scott) Franks, rural Newburg, and
Jesse (Faye) Baugh, Wishek; sisters, Edna (Philip) Davis, Beckley, W.Va., Kay (Dallie) Lambert of Pineville; brothers, George Walter
(Frances) Baugh, Pilot Mountain, N.C., William Edward Baugh, Taylor, Mich.,
Paul (Ruby) Kenney of Pineville; sister-in-law, Bonnie Baugh of Pineville;
stepsister, June (Angelo) Gentiluccie of Wyers Cave, Va.; grandchildren, Christopher (Teresa),
Cassandra and Emily; great-grandchildren, Jasmien,
Jesse Roy and Margie Ann JeLynn; two granddaughters
who were adopted, Stephanie Bell and Victoria Bell; and a host of nieces and
nephews.
Funeral service: Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at 2 p.m., with viewing
starting at 1 p.m., in Crossroads Baptist Church, Minot.

Gary Lee Blankenship , 66, Riverdale, formerly of Coal Grove,
Ohio, died peacefully on May 23, 2007, at his home surrounded by his family.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MDT Friday, May 25, at Beulah City
Cemetery, with the Rev. Don Barsness officiating.
Gary was born in
Ironton, Ohio, on Dec. 23, 1940, the oldest of six children of Eloise (Ross)
and Bill Blankenship . He was married to his loving wife, Myriam,
for 48 years. Gary was employed with Ironton Coke Plant for
22 years and retired from the Great Plains Gasification Plant in Beulah. He was
an avid amateur radio operator and was part of the Amateur Radio Emergency
Service. He belonged to the following radio clubs: TRAC of Dickinson, Central
Dakota ARC of Bismarck and Souris Valley ARC of Minot. Gary also enjoyed camping
and many trips fishing on Lake Sakakawea and the Missouri River. Gary and Myriam attend Riverdale Community Church.
He is survived by his wife, Myriam; two
daughters and two sons, Kim and Russell Heyman,
Conyers, Ga., Jimmy Blankenship , Mandan, Kathi Welstad, Beulah, and John and Kathy
Blankenship , Ironton; one
sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Roger Stamper, Pedro, Ohio; three
brothers and two sisters-in-law, David and Faye Blankenship , Ironton, Bill
Blankenship , Wheelersburg,
Ohio, and Bob and Kay Blankenship , Ritmon, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and five
great-grandchildren.
Gary was preceded
in death by his parents; his brother, Melvin Blankenship ; and his granddaughter, Melissa Cannon.

Orrin Carroll Hilleren,"Bud" 83,
New Town, died Friday May 15, 2009 in a Parshall
nursing home. Orrin was born October 5, 1925 in Benson, MN the son of
Oscar and Lillian (Christensen) Hilleren. He
was raised in Benson and Wheaton, MN where he attended school until 1942 when
the family moved to rural Parshall. He
graduated from Parshall High School in 1943 and then
farmed with his Dad until 1947. On March 19, 1947 Bud was united in
marriage to Maxine Smith at her parent’s home at Van Hook. They made
their home at Van Hook where Bud farmed with Jack Smith. In 1948 they
bought a cafe with the Smiths and operated it until 1952 when they moved into
New Town. During his years in New Town, Bud continued to farm and was
employed by the city as a water treatment plant superintendent for over 25
years. In his younger years Bud participated and enjoyed playing baseball
in rural leagues around the area. He continued to follow baseball his
entire life, attending local games and watching games on television. Bud
also participated in local bowling leagues, enjoyed playing cards and
reading. He had a photographic memory and could remember details of
travels, throughout his life, on highways across the country. Bud was a
member of Bethel Lutheran Church in New Town. Family:
Bud is survived by his children, David of New Town, Gene (Marcy) of
Watford City, and Maureen Omar (Hamed) of Tioga;
grandchildren, Donavon Hilleren, Chris Hilleren, Melaney Blankenship (Wally); Brooks Grotte (Robin), Emily Hilleren, Jamie Hilleren, Lisa Hilleren; Heidi Livingston (Bryce), Mitchell Omar (Audrey)
and Marisa Ramos (Carlos); five great grandchildren; brother, Gordon Hilleren of New Town; sisters, Elaine Jorchumb
(Art) of Wheaton, MN and Corrine Littlefield of New Town. He was preceded
in death by his parents; wife, Maxine who died on March 4, 2007; and grandson,
Aaron Hilleren.

Benhard Flaagan, age 93,
resident of Lakota, ND formerly rural Pekin, ND died
Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at the Nelson County Health System - Hospital in McVille, ND. Benhard was born
April 27, 1914 near Pekin, ND the son of Martin and
Gina (Thorson) Flaagan.
He grew up and was educated in the Pekin
and Tolna, ND area and was confirmed at the Sigdal Lutheran Church. Benhard
started farming and in 1946 he bought his maternal grandfathers farm near Pekin. On December 18, 1948 he married Viola Anderson in
Devils Lake, ND. After their marriage they continued to live and farm near Pekin until moving into Lakota in 2007. Benhard
enjoyed the peace and quiet of the farm; he spent more than 75 years farming.
He was active with the Farmers Union, Pekin Elevator
and Sigdal Lutheran Church. Benhard
had a wonderful sense of humor and will be missed by many.
Surviving members of the family are his wife Viola Flaagan of Lakota, ND; son Duane (Becky) Flaagan of rural Pekin, ND;
daughter Laurel (Gary) Petrone of Hillsboro, IL;
grandson Alex; brother Amos Kenneth (Connie) Flaagan
of Fargo, ND; two sisters Amie (Clayton) Aaser of McVille, ND and Irene Spidahl of
Kenyon, MN; sister-in-law Lilah Hermanson of McVille, ND and brother-in-law Raleigh (Molfried)
Anderson of Grand Forks, ND and numerous nieces and nephews.
Benhard was preceded in death by his parents; son
Bennett; sister Erva Spidahl
and three brothers Gilman Flaagan, Gordon Stewart Flaagan and Gordon Marvin Flaagan;
brother-in-law Glenn Hermanson; sister-in-laws Aleda (Edward) Snortland and Agnes Blankenship .

Friday, February 29, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sigdal
Lutheran Church, rural Tolna, ND. Interment will be
in the Sigdal Church Cemetery.

Agnes H. Blankenship,
age 86, resident of McVille, ND passed away Thursday,
May 29, 2003 at the Nelson County Health System Care Center in McVille, ND. Agnes was born December 13, 1916, the oldest
child of Carl Adolph and Bella (Ensrud) Anderson in
Forde Township, Nelson County, ND.
She grew up and attended school in rural Tolna,
ND. After graduating from Tolna High School, she
began her teaching career which spanned several decades and various school
districts in North Dakota and Minnesota. She married Alvin Twete
on June 15, 1941. They farmed and raised four children. Alvin died in 1955.
Agnes met Roy Locken and they were married on June
30, 1965. She and Roy moved to Grafton, ND where Agnes worked for social
services for a number of years. They moved to Devils Lake, ND where they served
as dorm counselors at Lake Region Jr. College. Roy died in 1979. She married Orville Blankenship on October 8, 1988. He died in 1996. Agnes
moved to McVille, ND in 1997 where she resided until
her death.
She enjoyed reading and learning new things, traveling to Norway
twice and spending time with her family and friends. Agnes was a member of the McVille American Legion Auxiliary, Sons of Norway, McVille Lutheran Church, Rebeckah
Circle, Pioneer Daughters and the Retired Teachers Association.
Surviving members of the family are her son Curtis (Judy) Twete of McVille, ND. 3
daughters; Myrna (David) Horner of Ottertail, MN, Judi (Duane) Steinbrink of
Crookston, MN and Gloria (Dennis) Creen of Moline,
IL. 12 grandchildren; Carma (Randi) Hanson, Dawn
(Scott) Johnson, Brian (Diane) Twete, Darin (Tanya) Twete, Eric Horner, Erin (Jay) Almie,
Allison (Mike) Reigel, Mindi
(Wade) Brill, Mathew Steinbrink, Megan Steinbrink, Jodie (Dan) Wesemann and Chad Creen. 13 great grandchildren; Alexis, Erik, Brady, Abby, Mallory, Kayla,
Finnegan, Hannah, Gabriel, Abigail, MacKenzie,
Brendan and Cameron. 2 sisters; Viola (Benhard) Flaagan of Pekin, ND and Lila (Glenn) Hermanson

Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, 3 husbands and 1 sister
Aleda Snortland.

ND. Interment will be in the Sigdal Church Cemetery,
rural Tolna, ND.

Lila R. Hermanson, age 86, resident of McVille, ND, died Saturday, July 11, 2009 at the Nelson
County Health System Hospital in McVille. Lila Ruth
Anderson was born October 22, 1922 near Tolna, ND,
the daughter of Carl Adolph and Bella (Ensrud) Anderson.
She was raised on her parents farm near Tolna and attended the township school in the area. Lila
married Glenn P. Hermanson on August 1, 1943 in
Wichita Falls, TX. In 1945 they began farming near Pekin,
ND. Lila began working in the laundry department at the care center in McVille. In the 1950's they lived and farmed near Mapes, ND. They moved to McVille
in 1960. Lila retired from the care center after working there for over 35
years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary at McVille
and was an active member of the McVille Lutheran
Church. She became a resident of the care center in March of 2003. Glenn died
March 15, 2005.
Lila will be missed by her 4 sons, Gary (Del) Hermanson
of Mesa, AZ, Ardell (Donna) Hermanson
of Grafton, ND, Dean (Cathy) Hermanson of Scottsdale,
AZ, and Merlyn (Corene) Hermanson
of Danville, VA; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and her sister, Viola Flaagan of McVille.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her 2
sisters, Aleda Snortland and
Agnes Blankenship ,
and her brother Raleigh Anderson.
Lila's Funeral Service will be held at McVille
Lutheran Church on Monday, July 13, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in the McVille Cemetery.

Raymond Smiley Straight, 95, 305 8th Ave. NE, Minot, died Thursday,
July 24, 2003, in a Minot nursing home. Raymond was born April 24, 1908,
in Grand Forks, ND, the son of Louis and Katherine (Smiley) Straight. He moved
with his family to Wildrose, ND, where he was raised
and educated and participated in sports and band. He graduated from Wildrose High School. He attended two years at Minot State
College where he earned his teaching certificate. He then taught school in
Mandan. Raymond served during World War II in the Army National Guard.
On December 20, 1936 he married Eva Bertsch
at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Minot. They made their home in Minot. Raymond
was employed by the Great Northern Railroad. In the 1950's he began his own
concession business, a business which he owned and operated for over 50 years.
He received numerous concessionaire awards in both North Dakota and South
Dakota. In his younger years Ray was a golden glove boxer in Minneapolis. Raymond
was a charter member of Little Flower Catholic Church in Minot.
Survivors: Wife, Eva Straight, Minot; sons, James Straight, Minot,
and Duane Straight, Crystal, MN; daughters, Joan Blankenship,
Denver, CO, and Dianne Giessinger, Minot;
daughters-in-law, Robbie Straight, Crystal, MN, and Judy Straight, Minot;
son-in-law, Dave Giessinger, Minot; ten
grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ray
was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Vernon J. Straight and
Howard Straight.
Funeral: Monday, July 28, 2003 at 1:00 pm at Little Flower Catholic
Church, Minot, ND. Burial: Rosehill Memorial
