Virginia L. Blankenship , 81, Kearney, widow of A. Dale, died Wednesday (10/17/07) at her residence. Virginia was born September 10, 1926 on the family farm located between Alexandria and Daykin in Jefferson County to Francis F. and Lillie E. (Simmonson) DeKalb.

Survivors: three sons, Al, Waverly; Gary, Kearney; Bruce, Kearney; daughter, Debbie Craig, Omaha; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services 10 a.m. Monday (10/22/07) at First Baptist Church, Kearney. Burial in the Kearney Cemetery.

Bernadette Ruth Dandurand, 85, of Sioux City passed away Friday, May 16, 2008, at Holy Spirit Retirement Home, surrounded by her six children and family that loved her.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Doug Dandurand, Bernadette's son, officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. parish vigil service, at Christy-Smith, Larkin Chapel. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Michael Blankenship, Matthew Liston, Ryan and Sean Clausen, Andrew and Brandon Bainbridge. Honorary pallbearers will be her sons-in-law, Thomas Bainbridge, Kelly Clausen and Stewart Huff.

Bernadette was born on April 6, 1923, in Emerson, Neb., the daughter of Edward and Grace (Wilkins) Maurice. She was raised on the family farm in Emerson and attended country schools. She graduated from Homer High School in 1941. After high school, she moved to Sioux City.

On Sept. 29, 1952, she married Ernest D. Dandurand. This union was blessed with six children. While raising her children, she baby-sat in her home and was an inspiration to many other children. She later worked at Mercy Medical Center, retiring in 1988. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Bernadette loved being at the farm and enjoyed gardening. She had a love for pets, and she enjoyed baking. But what she loved most was being wherever her six children were.

She is survived by Ernest of Sioux City; two sons, David of Sioux City and the Rev. Doug of Minneapolis, Minn.; four daughters, Maureen (Stewart) Huff of Dakota Dunes, Colleen (Thomas) Bainbridge of Kingsley, Iowa, Joanne Welter of Sioux City and Roxanne (Kelly) Clausen of Dakota Dunes; nine grandchildren, Kelly (Adam) Stokes of Iowa City, Iowa, Michael (Jaime) Blankenship of Omaha, Andrew and Brandon Bainbridge of Kingsley, Christine and Matthew Liston of Sioux City, Wendy, Ryan and Sean Clausen of Dakota Dunes; a great-grandson, Ethan Emmick; a brother, Virgil "Pat" and Josephine Maurice of Tucson, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.

Kenneth Duane Hinrichsen, 80, of South Sioux City died Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at Matney's Colonial Manor in South Sioux City.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Sioux City, with Monsignor Andrew Meister and the Rev. Daniel Wittrock officiating. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery; Plainview, Neb.

Kenneth was born Jan. 13, 1928, in Osmond, Neb., to Carl and Severa (Waterman) Hinrichsen. He grew up in the Osmond and Plainview, Neb. area. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Helen K. DeMuth on Sept. 21, 1948, in Plainview. They resided there until 1958, when they moved to Sioux City. They resided in Sioux City until 1988, when they moved to South Sioux City. They also wintered in Arizona for many years. He worked as a salesman for Crescent Electric for 30 years.

He was a member at both Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Nativity Catholic Church during his 30 years of residing in Sioux City. He later became a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Sioux City. He enjoyed making rosaries and made more than 20,000 for the missions. He also enjoyed playing cards, pool, walking, woodworking, bowling, golfing, hunting, fishing and boating.

He is survived by his wife, Helen of Sioux City; his children and their families, Randy and Sherri Hinrichsen of Turner, Ore. and their daughter, Jamie Johnson, Doug and Margie Hinrichsen of Lecompton, Kan. and their children, Sarah, Daniel, Patrick, Claire and Will, Julie Hinrichsen and Russell Dyke of Topeka, Kan., and their children, Kenny, Kristen and Kristopher, Lynn and Nancy Hinrichsen of Aurora, Colo. and their children, Erin Voll and Kailyn Hinrichsen, Jolene Hinrichsen of Albany, Ore., and her son, Daniel Blankenship, Michael Hinrichsen of Akron, Iowa, Janel Hinrichsen of Tsaille, Ariz., Renee Hinrichsen of Topeka, Kan., Julie Pappenfort of Nixa, Mo., and her son, Justin, Lily "Carol" Hinrichsen of Bristol, Vt., Lori Hinrichsen of Johnston, Vt., and Michelle and Vic Paltz of St. Helena, Neb. and their children, Emily, Zachary, Nicholas, Clarissa and Elena; and three great-grandchildren, Alecia, Abigale and Allyson.

J.N. Blankenship, 96, died Jan. 6 at Southview Manor Care Center in Cozad, Neb. He was born Jan. 13, 1905, in Garfield, Ark., the son of Carroll and Cammie Binkley Blankenship. He married Verna Miles Jan. 20, 1949, in Elwood, Neb. A resident of Lexington, coming from Hays, he was former manager of the J.C. Penny Department Store in Hays from 1955 until his retirement in 1965, when he started a construction company building duplexes and apartments in Hays.

Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Bob Blankenship of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mark Blankenship of Reno, Nev.; one daughter, Marilyn Fairbairn of Garden City; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Jack Blankenship; two brothers, Carman Blankenship and Paul Blankenship; two sisters, Mary Brokaw and Vera Motzek; and one grandson, Kyle Fairbairn.

Wilmer Wendell "Bill" Seybold, 71, of Benkelman, Neb., passed away July 30, 2006, at his home with his family by his side. He passes on having given a legacy of hope, strength and compassion to his family and those who knew him.  He was born Dec. 19, 1934, southwest of Trenton, Neb., the son of Charles Lester and Esther Lilly Seybold. He graduated from Benkelman High School in 1952. Bill married Dorothy Jean Wisdom at the Methodist Church in Wray, Colo., Sept. 25, 1953. To this union was born Susan Ann, Mary Lenn, Terry May, Mark Lester and Julie Jean.

Bill joined the Army in March 1954. His basic training was at Fort Ord, Calif.  During his two years in the service he was stationed in Aberdeen, Md., and Fort Hood, Texas. After his discharge from the Army, the Seybold family made their home in Hershey, Trenton, Wilber and Benkelman, Neb. Bill was acknowledged from several organizations and found great accomplishment in his occupation as City Utilities Superintendent at Trenton, Wilber, and Benkelman.  He was a member of the Masonic Blue Valley Lodge 64 in Wilber and was Past Master of Justice Lodge 180 in Benkelman.  He also participated as a member in the Tehama Shrine Club; Rotary Club in Wilber; Volunteer Fire Dept. in Wilber and Benkelman; and American Legion of Benkelman. Bill enjoyed playing golf with "the boys" at the Benkelman Country Club. Preceding him in death were his parents and his granddaughter, Lindsey Jean DeWester.

Bill is survived by Dorothy Seybold of Greeley, Colo.; children Susan Rushing and husband, Ray, of St. Louis, Mo; Mary Seybold of Spokane, Wash.; Terry Sulzbach and husband, Gary, of Cleveland, Tenn.; Mark Seybold and wife, Lisa, of Benkelman; and Julie DeWester and husband, Dick, of Benkelman;

His grandchildren are Jennifer French and husband, Ben of Aurora, Neb.; Steven Korinek of St. Louis, Mo.;  Rachael Dooley and husband, Jason, of Cleveland, Tenn.; Chris Sulzbach and wife, Marki, of Branson, Mo.;  Heather Sulzbach of Cleveland, Tenn.; Christy Seybold of McCook, Neb.; Brian Anderson of Omaha, Neb.; and Cody DeWester of Lincoln, Neb.  His great-grandchildren are Collin and Courtney French of Aurora, Neb; Chloe Sulzbach of Branson, Mo. and Abigail Seybold of McCook, Neb.  He is also survived by his brother, Nathan "Dick" (Bruz) Seybold and wife, Georgie, of Trenton; their son, Dave Seybold, of Trenton, Neb., and their foster son Brian Blankenship, wife, Connie, and son, Jared, of Kearney, Neb.

Funeral services will be Thursday, August 3, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Brian Fong officiating.  Interment with military honors will follow services at the Benkelman Cemetery.

Arnold L. Cochran, 64 of Kimball died on Friday July 11, 2003 at his home. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Thurs. July 17 at the Cantrell Funeral Home of Kimball. Reverend Roger Gillming will officiate. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.

He was born October 9, 1938 in York a son of Walton and Mildred Eva (Nightingale) Cochran. He grew up in the Lincoln area moving to California for a time then moving to the Kimball area in 1955. He married Sandra Eddy on April 28, 1973 in Dix. Arnold worked for the Egging Company as well as Accessory Sales Inc. until his health forced him to retire in 1993. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He also enjoyed collecting stamps and watching westerns.

He is survived by his wife Sandra; sons Kyle and wife Anna Cochran of Kimball, Shawn Cochran of Mannheim Germany, Patrick Blankenship of California; daughter Lera and husband Rory Cockrell of Hisperia, CA; sister Mary Cochran of Kimball and nineteen grandchildren as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walton and Eva Cochran-Long and stepparents Pat and Mary Long; Two sisters, Patty Johnson and Martha Ross.

Rosa Marie Tramp, 58, Crofton, died Aug. 28, 2006, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, SD. There was visitation with the family one hour prior to services Saturday at the Wintz Funeral Home, Crofton. Memorial Services were Sept. 2, at the Wintz Funeral Home, Crofton, with Rev. Bob Bryan officiating. Burial of Rosa's ashes will be at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Crofton.

Rosa Marie Tramp was born Oct. 22, 1947, in Asco, W.Va., to Eli Fred and Nora Mae Patrick. She lived several different places while growing up and married Duane J. Tramp May 29, 1990. She and Duane lived in Washington, D.C., prior to moving to Crofton in February 2001. Duane died Aug. 2, 2006 at the age of 73. Rosa loved dancing and traveling around the country with Duane in their RV. She loved to bowl and belonged to the Crofton Bowling League. She also helped Duane deliver meals on wheels in Crofton.

Survivors include her three step children, Kathy and husband, Carl Szczesny, Lenexa, Kan.; Steve and wife, Karen Tramp, Sioux Falls, S.D.; Joe and wife, Kathleen Tramp, Blackwood, N.J.; 10 step grandchildren, Kristi, Kayla, Matthew, Marcus, and Mitchell Tramp, Sioux Falls, S.D.; Michael, Becky, Drew and Angie Szczesny, Lenexa, Kan.; and Nerina Tramp, Blackwood, N.J.; one brother, Johnny Blankenship, Delaware N.J.; one uncle, Woodrow Parks, Pennsylvania; one aunt, Rosie Newcomb, W.Va.; several nieces and nephews; good friend, Jeanine Peterson, Crofton; and her beloved dogs, Ooch, Pooch, and Smooch. She lived for many years in Beatrice, Neb., before she moved to Lincoln. Mrs. Hawkins- Blankenship was a former employee of the Martin Luther Home in Beatrice and Lincoln Information for the Elderly. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph's Parish in Beatrice and St. Teresa's Parish in Lincoln.

She married Donald T. Hawkins, who preceded her in death. She later married Roy J. Blankenship , who also preceded her in death. A son, Samuel, and twin children, Michelle and Michael, also preceded her in death.

 Survivors include four daughters, Kay Lemon and Paula Strain, both of Lincoln, Constance Anderson, Redmond, Wash., and Judean Schmidt, Henderson, Nev.; a son, Thomas Hawkins, Garland, Texas; a sister, Mary Wiltz, Corning, Kan.; a brother, Benedict Rethman, Corning; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Teresa's Parish in Lincoln. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery.

Lena Irene Bennett, daughter of Charley S. and Irma (Allgood) Blankenship, was born Dec. 10, 1932 at Peru. Lena attended school and lived in Peru until after graduation from high School. On June 21, 1952 Lena married William Robert Bennett, Jr. To this union three children, Tom, Randy and Mary, were born. The family lived in Nebraska City and then moved to California. After her husband's death on July 31, 1971, Lena and children moved to Auburn where she lived until her death. Lena entered the Nemaha County Good Samaritan Center in Auburn in October of 2005.  It was there she died on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006 at the age of 73 years, one month, and 22 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Neva Weisbrook, and brother Dale Blankenship.

Lena's survivors include her children, Tom L. and wife Becky Bennett of Lincoln, Ore.; Randy L. and wife Pam Bennett of Auburn, and Mary L. and husband Lee Lynch of Auburn; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers Leland Blankenship and wife Mary of Auburn, Carroll Blankenship of Newton, Iowa, Charles Blankenship of Nemaha, Lester Blankenship and wife Betty of Nebraska City; sister-in-law Virginia Blankenship of Kearney; mother-in-law Lillian Bennett of Omaha; brothers-in-law Ben and wife Joyce Bennett of Omaha, Mike and Connie Bennett of North Dakota; sister- in-law Trish Bennett of Iowa; other relatives and friends.

A memorial service was held Monday, Feb. 6, 2006 at Hemmingsen Funeral Home Chapel in Auburn with Rev. Frank Zimmerman officiating. Special music was played during the service. Inurnment of ashes will be at a later date at Sheridan Cemetery near Auburn.

Ruth Marie Weible, 80, of Nebraska City died at Duff's Friendship Villa in Nebraska City on March 17, 2008. She was born Sept. 13, 1927 on a farm near Nebraska City to Albert and Bertha (Rehm) Weible.

Survivors include sisters Kathryn Chapin and Betty Blankenship , both of Nebraska City, and Lois Rodriguez and husband Tony of Sun Valley, Calif.; sisters-in-law Marilyn Weible, Joan Weible, and Donetta Weible, all of Nebraska City; brother-in-law Les Blankenship of Nebraska City; special friend Phyllis Wright of Nebraska City; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by brothers G.J. "Bud," Eugene, Dean and Paul; and brother-in-law Don Chapin.

She lived in the Nebraska City area her entire life. She had formerly worked at Theresa's Restaurant and John Brown's Café prior to her retirement. She was a member of Bethel United Church of Christ and a lifetime member of the church's Women's Fellowship. Ruth loved crossword and search puzzles, NASCAR racing, reading TV Guide, latch hook, attending church and all activities at Duff's Friendship Villa. She also loved to spend time with her family.

Funeral services are at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, at Bethel United Church of Christ in Nebraska City. Rev. Rodger Good will officiate. Pallbearers will be Bruce Weible, Marvin Weible, Allen Weible, Burt Weible, D.J. Lester K. Blankenship, age 73 of Nebraska City went to join his son Mike in heaven on December 20, 2009. Les had been living at Duff's Friendship Villa in Nebraska City. He was born on October 14, 1936 to Charley and Irma (Allgood) Blankenship in Auburn, NE.

He grew up and attended school in Peru, NE. On Sept. 8, 1957 he was married to Betty L. Weible and to this union three children were born: Cindy, Cathy and Michael.

Lester worked 30 years in the garment manufacturing industry including Debby and Danny Dare, Pendleton's, Nebraska Outerwear and Holden Manufacturing. He worked eight years at Nebr. City Lourdes High School before becoming disabled from a fall in December of 1987. Lester was a member of the Eagles, Dunbar Presbyterian Church and the Dunbar Vol. Fire Dept. for many years. As one of the original members of the Dunbar Recreation Club, he greatly enjoyed the Haunted Houses they created for many years. He loved horses all of his life. Horse shows were his passion resulting in many trophies and ribbons over the years. He bowled for many years on both men's and mixed leagues and enjoyed much success. He coached and played baseball and softball for 33 years, at one point coaching all three of his children's teams at one time. He was also a great Nebraska Sports Fan. His greatest passions were garage sales, auctions and antique shops-collecting depression glass and numerous other glass patterns. The greatest love in life was his three grandchildren!

He was preceded in death by his son Michael Lynn Blankenship, parents Charley and Irma Blankenship, siblings and spouses: Dela Blankenship, Dale and Virginia Blankenship, Neva and Jerry Weisbrook, Lena and Bill Bennett, Arlene Blankenship and Merril Blankenship. Brothers-in-law: Dean GJ (Bud), Paul and Eugene Weible and Don Chapin.

She graduated from Muscotah High School.  On Nov. 10, 1939, she married James William Melton at McCook. His employment as a manager of Gambles took them to many locations throughout the country. Before their move to McCook in 1985, they had lived in the North Platte community for 17 years. She was a homemaker. and enjoyed cooking and reading.  Preceding her in death were her parents; and two sisters, Louise Mydland and one in infancy.

Survivors include her husband, James Melton of McCook; three nieces and a nephew, David Mydland of Mid City, Okla., Ruth and husband, Mike Matthews of Altoona, Kan., Joanna and husband, Willard Blankenship, of Independence, Kan., and Debra and husband, Steven Clements, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one brother-in-law, Roy Melton of McCook; and one sister-in-law, Juanita and husband, Vayle Bunker of Culbertson.

She was a great seamstress and enjoyed quilting, rug weaving, gardening, canning, traveling, family, and staying active. She also attended the Central Church of Christ in Gering.

She had worked for Spectrum Photography, Regional West Medical Center, Scotts Bluff County and was currently employed by University of Nebraska Extension Office. She loved photography, riding motorcycles and most of all was devoted to her daughter.

Berger -- Jacques "Jack" F., 88, Seward, died Monday (11/19/01). Born, Omaha (9/6/13). Former owner, Berger Auto Parts. Graduated, Seward High School, 1931; University of Nebraska, 1940. Past president, Seward Chamber of Commerce, Seward Kiwanis Club and Seward Industrial Development. Director of Nebraska Automotive Wholesaler's Association, National Association of Individual Investors, Toastmasters and Seward Investment Club.

 Survivors: wife, Anne; daughters, sons-in-law, Diane and Dr. William Blankenship , Sioux City, Iowa, Gayle and Alvin Backes, Omaha; sister, brother-in-law, Mary Ellen and Bob Hill, Rochelle, Ill.; brother, sister-in-law, Bill and Marion, Cincinnati; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by parents, William and Mary (Landrock).

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Saturday, United Methodist Church, Seward. The Rev. Alvin Smith. Seward Cemetery.

Corey Edward Wray of Seward, age 31, was born Nov. 16, 1973 and died May 6, 2005. Wray was employed at Seward High School.

He was preceded in death bu his Father-in-law, Joseph Arkel, grandparents, Ralph and Bessie Burson and Paul and Dorothy Wray.

Corey is survived by his wife, Sarah of Seward, sons, John and Andrew, daughter, Kassandra of Seward; parents, John and Delores Wray of North Loup; brothers, Dan Kluna and his friend Dena Byrd of Cairo, Tim Kluna of Tuscon Ariz., brothers and sisters-in-law, Galen Wray and Michelle Haddix of Lincoln, Jeff and Melody Wray of Doniphan; grandmother, Millie Wray of Ord; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Norma and Larry Freburg of Omaha, Cheryl and Mark Arnburst of Iowa, Jamie Leazer of Seward, Patty and Joe Montelongo of California and Toni and Charles Ebelhare of Arizona; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert Blankenship of Seward, Mike and Brenda Arkel of Benedict, Ronald and Penny Blankenship of Minnesota, William Arkel and friend Darlyn Boye of York.

Blankenship, June. Oct 5, 1928 - Jul 18, 2009. Passed away Saturday at the Pender Community Hospital, Pender, NE. June was born in Wauneta, NE, the daughter of Dewey and Thelma Hill. She was married to Duane L. Blankenship on January 21, 1945. June was preceded in death by her parents; a son James and daughter Sandra; and her sister Bonnie Hanna.

She is survived by her husband Duane of Pender; daughter Sharon and husband Al Maul of Pender; two sons, Michael Blankenship and his wife Janet of DeSoto, MO and Tim Blankenship and wife Jody of Omaha, NE; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Delores Collins, Tom Hill, Shirley Ball, and Jack Hill and wife Peggy; and several nephews and nieces.

FUNERAL SERVICES Tuesday, July 21, at 10:30am at the Covenant Church of Pender. Burial in Rosehill Cemetery, Pender.

David A. Claussen, 49, York, died Thursday (8/3/06). Born, Columbus. An electrician, he worked at K&S Sales and Service in Henderson.

Survivors: wife, Julie; sisters, Betty Shockley, Bellevue, Susan Wollman, Puyallup, Wash., Cynthia Blankenship , Waynesville, Ohio; parents, Alvin and Patricia Claussen, Columbus; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Clifford G. Blankenship, age 88, of York, Nebraska died Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at Lincoln, [Lancaster Co.,] Nebraska. He was born June 16, 1921 in Sasakwa, Oklahoma to Emmit Monroe and Laura (Perry) Blankenship.

Over the years, Clifford worked at several different jobs including oil field drilling, owner/operator of his own trucking company, car salesman, and sales representative for Bush Hog Manufacturing. He proudly served his country as a corporal in the U.S. Army from 1942-1945. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge as well as four other major battles. Clifford earned the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for meritorious service.

He was united in marriage to Nellie Jean Holt on November 3, 1950 at Mena, AR. Clifford was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Holdenville, Oklahoma as well as a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed traveling, horseback riding and most of all, spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Nellie of York; daughters, Carolyn Sue and her children of Ada, Oklahoma; Billie and her husband, Gary Matlock, of York; and Debra Blankenship of Austin, Texas; grandchildren: Jay Matlock of York; Dana Matlock of Aurora, Colorado; Clifton Matlock of Lincoln, Nebraska and his children Caitlin and Reagan of Henderson, Nebraska; Candy Prendenville, her husband, James, and their children: Sean, Lauren, and Ryan of Round Rock, Texas; Troy Smock, his wife, Rebecca, and their children: Elsa and Jonah of Ahwanee, California. Clifford is also survived by sisters-in-law, Polly Middleton of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Janis (Gene) Chaney of Oilton, Texas.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 24, 2009 in York, Nebraska. Graveside services with military honors are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Monday, October 26, 2009 at Holdenville Cemetery.
