Mrs. Lavender, born in North Carolina, had been a Springs Industries employee. She was the widow of William Lavender and a daughter of the late Quincy and Cindy Lou Hipps Blankenship.

Survivors are her daughters, Ms. Ruby Ferrell of Chester, Ms. Irene Poole; brother, Roscoe Blankenship of Virginia; sisters, Ms. Texie Justice of Virginia, Ms. Lillian Parker of Mooresville, N.C.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Grachan had retired from the US Army after twenty years of service, serving in the Korean War.

Mrs. Dixie Dorthulla Blankenship Snipes, 74, widow of Robert Snipes, of 6392 Lee Snipes Rd., died January 2, 1997 at Springs Memorial Hospital.

Funeral is 2 p.m. Monday at Oak Hill Baptist Church, where she was a member, with Revs. Thurmond Johnson and Carl Hunter officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.

Born in Martha, KY on January 7, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Curtis Blankenship and Lydia Castle Blankenship Hilger. Retired from Springs Industries, she was a member of the Golden Oaks Senior Citizens, the Stafford Graham American Legion Post No. 31, and was a U.S. Army, Air Corp veteran of WWII.

Survivors include a son, Lake Snipes of Lancaster; daughters, Mrs. Joe (Brooker) Laswell and Mrs. Thomas (Jody) Blanton, both of Lancaster; 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM, Monday, December 6, 1999 at St. John's United Methodist Church in Fort Mill with Dr. Robert Monson and Rev. Joe Tysinger officiating. Burial will follow at Unity Cemetery.

Gerald Eugene Blankenship Sr., 52, of 214 Ore Bank Rd., Smyrna died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 1995, at his home.

Surviving are his wife, Colleen Ryan Blankenship of the home; mother, Ann Blankenship of Smyrna; three daughters, Melony Blankenship, Teresa Blankenship and Jodi Wyatt, all of Smyrna; five sons, Randy Blankenship, Lance Blankenship, Gerald Blankenship Jr., Cliffton Blankenship and Billy Blankenship, all of Smyrna; and one sister, Norma Greene of Spartanburg.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Smyrna Baptist Church. The funeral Service was private and the body was cremated. Wright Funeral Home, York, was in charge.
