Mark Blankinship, age 58, of Kimball, SD, died June 29, 2015 in a work related accident in Sioux Falls, [Minnehaha Co.,] SD. Mark was born October 3, 1956 in Boise, Idaho and was the second child to Calvin and Lillian (Shiepe) Blankinship.

Mark grew up in Boise, Idaho, attending Jackson School, St. Joseph Catholic School, Bishop Kelly Catholic High School and Borah High School. Mark worked in the farming, ranching and construction industry throughout his life. Mark served in the Army for five years and later was a Sheriff's Deputy in Boise and Cascade, Idaho. Mark also worked for the State of Wyoming. Mark's number one love was ranching and he was working towards owning a ranch of his own at the time of his death. Mark will always be remembered for his great sense of humor and will be truly missed by all whose life he touched.

Mark spent the last years of his life in the Wyoming and South Dakota area. He enjoyed life to the fullest and was always ready to help anyone in need. Mark was a great story teller and no one could tell a story like he could He had pet names for most people…never using their real names, his way of making them special to him.

Mark was preceded in death by his father, Calvin, both sets of grandparents and all his aunts and uncles, except Barbara Blankinship.

Mark is survived by his mother, Lillian Blankinship; brother, Rev. Calvin L. Blankinship, Jr; sisters, Debra Blankinship and Pamela Blankinship ; two nephews, Scott and Candi Ryals and family and Bruce and Cassey Ryals and family; his paternal aunt, Barbara Blankinship; and two very special dogs, Pete and Buster – now living with a close friend in Wyoming. He also has numerous cousins along with numerous close friends and acquaintances in Wyoming/South Dakota, Oregon and Idaho.

Local memorial services will be celebrated at St. John's Catholic Church Chapel at 707 N 8th Street, Boise, ID on Saturday, June 25th at 10:30 AM.

Mark had great friends in the Wyoming area, and they held a service for him July 7, 2015 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Newcastle, Wyoming. Mark's family enjoyed hearing about all his antics and out pouring of love from this special group of friends.

Per Mark's request, his ashes were spread in the mountains of Wyoming, and a military marker was also placed for him at the Idaho Veteran Cemetery.

Harriett Louise Blankenship Cartney, 65, a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother, passed into the Arms of Jesus peacefully at home surrounded by family after a long illness. She was born on 29 May 1954, the fourth of five children to Donald Earl and Betty Jean (Baynard) Blankenship while he was serving in the US Air Force in Middlesex England.

She was a wonderful sister to Garrett Lee, Donald "Butch" Earl, Raymond Verne, and Mary Jean (Brada Lewellyn). Spending her childhood from Alaska to Oklahoma to Virginia following their Dad's retirement she spent her formative years in the Washington DC Metropolitan area, where she met Lt Mike Cartney. To the world, she was our Mother, to us she was our World. Harriett was an unwavering advocate for all children, volunteering her love, time and money to many children's activities including scouts, military youth programs, programs for those with disabilities, Boys' Town, PACH and sponsoring scholarships through the Harriett Cartney and Donald Blankenship Memorial Fund at the Watertown Community Foundation. Needless to say, Christmas was her favorite Holiday so she could spoil her loved ones!

Harriett is preceded in death by her grandparents, father, and two brothers, Garrett and Raymond.

Harriett married Michael Donald Cartney on 7 May 1983 in an outside ceremony at Evans Farm Inn in McLean, Virginia. A devoted wife to Colonel (retired) Cartney, they served side-by-side for 24 years during his Air Force Career. They settled in Watertown SD after Mike's retirement from the US Air Force in 2007 for the remainder of their 38 years together. Harriett is the loving mother to Trisha Louise Turner Hill (Brad) of Leander, TX and Byron Richard Turner of Watertown SD. She could not be more proud of her three outstanding grandchildren, Natalie Jean Bright of Carlsbad, CA, Andrew James Bright of Independence, MO, and Alexander Michael Bright, Leander, TX. Harriett was a loving aunt, and mother when needed, to many dear nieces and nephews. Especially close to her heart were her brother Butch's children, Donna and Garrett.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm, on Wednesday, October 23, 2019, at Hosanna Lutheran Church. Rev. Janine Rew-Werling will officiate. Music will be provided by Angie Eickmeyer as organist with Trisha Hill and Natalie Bright as vocalists. Burial will take place at Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD at 3:00 pm, on Thursday, October 24, 2019. Honorary pallbearers will be LATI. Bette Lou Blankenship of Mitchell, South Dakota, was born on May 22, 1937 and passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2016.

Lou attended country school. She graduated from Winner High School in 1955. She taught and attended college at Southern State College in Springfield SD earning her Degree in Teaching.

She was married to Richard.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Tuesday September 20 2016 at Holy Family Catholic Church with burial at the American Legion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday September 19 2016 at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM.

Lillian Blankenship, 79 of Alexandria died Sunday at Avera McKennan. Services 10:30AM Thursday at St. Mary of Mercy Church in Alexandria, burial in the Church Cemetery.

Judy Jean Thompson, 68, died Wednesday, October 15 at Avera St. Benedict Hospital in Parkston.

Memorial mass will be Monday, October 20 at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Parkston.

She is survived by her husband, James of Parkston; 2 children: Kent (Tricia) Thompson of Algonquin, IL and Tonya (Ried) Holien of Watertown, SD; 7 grandchildren: Samuel, Ella and Lucas Thompson and Rachel, Tessa, Cate and Gabriel Holien; and 5 siblings: Darlene Lauck, Thelma Hofer, Richard Blankenship, Doris Grady and Al Blankenship.
