Mattie Crowder Blankenship, Mrs. Age 83, in the 84th year of her age, widow of John L. Blankenship, died Friday, December 11, 1953 at 10:00 pm in a Norfolk hospital. 

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Andrew J. Mitchell of Norfolk; a sister, Mrs. W. S. Hayes and a brother, W. H. Crowder, both of Petersburg; 4 grandchildren, John Alfred Carroll, George Crowder Carroll, Mrs. Audrey Mitchell Mathews and Andrew J. Mitchell Jr, all of Norfolk and 7 great grandchildren.  She was a native of Chesterfield County and had been a resident of Norfolk for 43 years, residing at 1040 35th Street.  She was a member of the Zion Methodist Church and charter member of the Westminster Chapel OES. 

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, December 13, 1953 at 4:30 pm at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home by the Rev Earl I. Lewis, pastor of the Zion Methodist Church.  The services in Petersburg will be conducted in the J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home Monday, December 14, 1953 at 2:00 pm.  Burial will be in

Blandford Cemetery.  Members of Westminster Chapter No 99, OES, conducted services.

Eller Beavers, aged 52, a Bandy farmer was found dead last Thursday afternoon in the yard of his home.  It was stated that death was due to a heart attack he suffered Tuesday morning.  He was born at Bandy, a son of the late Thomas and Lula Mitchell Beavers, both natives of Tazewell county.  He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Earnest Lynn of Bandy and Mrs. Lessie Bryant of Clintwood; one brother, William Beavers of Bandy, one half sister, Mrs. Hazel Blankenship, of Cedar Bluff, one step sister, Mrs. Billey Harrison of Bandy, one half brother, Junior Beavers of Cedar Bluff and  one step brother, Gally Bryant of Bandy.
