Sylvia I. (Lavarnway) Friend, 71, of Lyndonville passed away May 3,
2013 at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital [Saint Johnsbury, Caledonia
Co., VT]. She was born in
Nashua, NH on January 6, 1942 to Oscar and Rita (Laquerre) Lavarnway.
She was a longtime resident of Nashua, moving to Wheelock, VT to
raise her children from 1979 to 1988. She returned to Nashua in 1988 and worked
for Owens-Brockway for 10 years as a packing machine operator. In May 2012 she
returned to Vermont to be near her children and grandchildren. During the past
year she met many new and old friends.
She is survived by her devoted daughters,
Robbin Friend and partner, David Fisher, of Concord, Rita Riendeau and her
husband, Gerard, of Lyndonville, and Nancy Blankenship
and husband, Derek, of Lyndonville. She leaves her grandchildren, Jessica Sheeley, Matt Sheeley & Aaron Sheeley,
Michelle Davidson and husband Andy, Caitlin Riendeau and fiancée Caleb, &
Ryan Riendeau, Norah
Blankenship ; and step-grandchildren
Riley and Jake. She also leaves two great-grandchildren, Adrian Sheeley and
Devin Davidson. She leaves behind her four siblings, Roger Lavarnway and wife,
Thelma, of Nashua, Joan Hudson of Peterborough, Cecile Chenel and husband,
Gerard, of Tilton, and Shirley Lavarnway of Nashua. She had many nieces,
nephews, and friends.
She is pre-deceased by her parents and twin sons, Mark and Michael
Rayno. She enjoyed shopping, dining out with friends and family, playing cards,
gardening, taking pictures, and writing letters. She had a wonderful sense of
humor with a contagious laugh. She enjoyed spending time with her siblings and
made friends everywhere she went. She will be remembered with many smiles and
greatly missed.
There will be a graveside service May 9, 2013 at 11:00 am at St.
Francis Xavier Cemetery, Pinehill Ave., Nashua. A ceremony of Sylvia's life
will be scheduled later to take place in Vermont.

Joyce H. Blankenship,
81, passed away at her home on Aug. 10, 2014. She was born in Castleton on Feb.
2, 1933, the daughter of Elmer and Mable (Terry) Sorrell.
She worked in homecare and manufacturing. She was a member of the
American Legion and also an active member of the Hydeville Baptist Church.
She is survived by her three daughters:
Eva Stedman of Castleton, Linda (John) Chanlatte of Hubbardton, Sheryl (Paul)
Vernoski of Mellen, WI; four grandchildren: Cesar Chanlatte of Plymouth, Mass.,
Jonathan Johnston of Ashland, Wisc., Jolene Johnston of Ashland, Wisc., Jamie
Johnston of Ironwood, Mich.; five great-grandchildren, her sister Patricia
Brazee of Dalton, Mass., and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband
Ted Blankenship, and former husband Robert Ramig; by four
brothers, Harold Sorrell, Leonard Sorrell, Clyde Sorrell, Richard Sorrell; five
sisters, Elizabeth Payne, Ellen Woodard, Rose Pavoni, Barbara (Armstrong)
Fallon, Eleanor Rider and a grandson Dylan Stedman.
A memorial will be held at Castleton Cemetery on Thursday, Aug. 14,
2014 at 11 a.m.

Eva B. (Ramig) Stedman, 68, Castleton, died Feb. 2, 2019. She was
born Oct. 24, 1950, the daughter of Joyce (Ramig) Blankenship and Robert Ramig.
She graduated from MMRH in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. Ms.
Stedman worked for several years at General Electric in Rutland. She enjoyed
gardening.
She was predeceased by her son, Dylan Stedman.
Survivors include two sisters Linda Chanlatte and Sheryl Vernoski;
three nephews, a niece, several cousins; and a stepson, Roger Stedman Jr.
The memorial service will be at a later date.

Vincent J. Muro, 83, died July 29, 2012, at Rutland Regional
Medical Center [Rutland, Rutland Co., VT]. He was born in Norwalk, Conn., Jan. 9,
1929, the son of Angelo and Antoinette (Grimaldi) Muro. Mr. Muro was a U.S.
Army Korean War veteran and owner/operator of Muro's Farm in Ira.
Survivors include two children, Vincent Muro of West Rutland and
Angela Lundrigan of Ira; two sisters, Frances Muro and Rita Cote, both of New
York; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Florence Muro, in 2006; a grandson;
two sisters, Camille Nagy and Mary Blankenship.
The graveside service will be held at the convenience of the
family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Mullin-Clifford Funeral

Sallie Lee (Dixon) Olmstead, 97, of Nourse Hollow Road, passed away
unexpectedly Wednesday evening, Sept. 24, 2014, at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital, [Windham Co., VT]. She was born in Wagoner, N.C. on July
23, 1917 to Arthur & Virginia Dixon.
At a young age the family moved to Greenbrier County, W.Va where
she grew up on the family farm with her nine brothers and sisters. Following
graduation from Berea College in Berea, Ky. in 1938, she moved to Vermont to
teach home economics at Kurn Hattin Homes in Saxons River. There she met her
future husband, George D. Olmstead. They were married on Nov. 28, 1941 in
Braintree, Mass. Following her husband's discharge from the United States Coast
Guard in 1946, she returned to Vermont, eventually settling in Dummerston where
they raised her six children.
She worked as a cook at the East Dummerston School, and also was a
close companion for very close friends George & Helen Vaughan. Some of her
favorite pass times were reading, cooking, visiting friends, attending PTA
meetings, going on trips with members of her Home Demonstration Group, meeting
with her "stitch & b***h" club, entertaining them with her
"slightly dusty" stories, and taking up bowling at the young age of
65. She was very active in the local community by volunteering her time at the
church apple pie festival every year, and their strawberry supper. She was a past
member of the Rebekah Lodge in Saxons River, Vt.
Sallie is survived by her children, Sallie May of Vernon, James
Olmstead (Jane) of Newfane, Elizabeth Wright (George) of West Chesterfield,
N.H., Daniel Olmstead (Judi) of Marlboro, and Ellen Olmstead of Dummerston;
seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two
great-great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by three brothers,
Frank, William, and Laddie; two sisters, Edna and Peggy; two special cousins, Sam Bare and Sally Blankenship; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, in 2003, her daughter, Mary
Therieau, in 2012, and her grandson, Keith Wright, in 1989. She was also
predeceased by one brother, Arthur Dixon Jr., and three sisters, Bonnie Gwinn,
Lola Ray Viers, and Luwanda Viers.
A Memorial Service in celebration of her life will take place at
Dummerston Congregational Church in the springtime (2015) at a date and time to
be announced by the funeral home.

Melvena June Lovejoy, 81, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2018, at
Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH., after a lengthy illness.
Melvena was born on Feb. 26, 1936, in Unity, NH., the daughter of Raymond J.
and Melba (Burke) Braley.
Melvena (also known as Nena) started her first job when she was a
very young girl, working at Pepperidge Farm Bakery in Norwalk, CT, where she
spent many long hours kneading dough, so that she could save money for her
wedding. She was married to Robert Richard Vernon Adams and they had five
children together. She spent many years at home raising her children, but when
times got hard she went to work to help meet the family's needs. Although she
had many different jobs over the years, serving ice cream at the Idlenot
Restaurant in Claremont, NH. was one of her favorite jobs.
Later on in life after her children were grown she divorced.
Several years later she met and fell in love with her future husband, while
working at another job that she truly enjoyed. Melvena loved working as a
caretaker and homemaker for the Visiting Nurse Alliance in Lebanon, NH. She
built many close relationship's with the clients she cared for and this is
where she met Jerry H. Lovejoy. It was practically love at first sight as they
had only known each other for a couple of months before their marriage on June
2, 2001 in West Lebanon, NH. They spent 15 years happily married and living in
White River Junction before Jerry's death in 2015.
Melvena had a personal relationship with God and was a faithful
attendant of Valley Bible Church in White River Junction. She also was involved
in a card ministry where she had lived for the past 17 years, reaching out to
her neighbor's and friend's at Graystone Village in White River, Jct. Melvena
was very talented when it came to sewing, making a majority of her children's
clothing and also clothes for their dolls as well. She loved cooking and baking
for her family and was known for her tasty biscuits, Whoopie pies, homemade
doughnuts and chocolate brownies. If you needed someone to talk to you always
knew that Melvena would be there with a listening ear and words of
encouragement. She was a friend to many and will truly be missed.
Melvena is predeceased by two sister's Nancy Labounty and Bonnie
Wheeler; a son-in-law, Grover Copeland and a grandson Isaac John David
Copeland.
She is survived by a son Raymond Clare Adams and his wife Rebecca
Elaine (Erisman) Adams of Cornish, NH.; four daughters, Peggy June Copeland of Claremont, NH., Ginger Lee Platt
and her husband Dean of Rock Springs, WY, Suzanne Ruth Grace and her husband
Steven of Ascutney, VT. and Amy
Jeanne Blankenship and her husband Charles of White River Junction; 11 grandsons; two
granddaughters; and numerous great-grandchildren; a brother Raymond Braley, Jr.
of Cornish; and three sisters, Carol Fortune of Dover, NH., Harriett Davis of
Claremont, and Joyce Grace of Charlestown, NH.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Valley Bible
Church in White River Junction.
