http://www.tributes.com/show/Lane-Edward-Blankenship-85992566
Lane Edward Blankenship, January 2, 1920 - May 16, 2009, Richland, Washington
Lane Edward Blankenship, God's precious son, passed on to be in his Father's presence on
May 16, 2009. Born on January 2, 1921, near Manes, Missouri, to James Robert and Lenna Ann
Blankenship, Lane was an
identical twin. He and his brother, Bane, were the fifth and sixth children of eight in the family.
Lane grew into a hard-working and respectful young man. He and his
beloved twin brother learned to support themselves and their family by trapping
animals for food during the Great Depression. Entering into a contract to buy a
neighboring farm at the ages of 12, the twins had the farm paid for by 18 years
of age.
Lane married Wilma Prock, the sweetheart
and love of his life, one day before Pearl Harbor was bombed. Shortly after,
the young couple moved to Paola, Kansas, where Lane's life was forever changed
by accepting Christ as his Lord and Savior. Lane's life was marked by the
Christ-like love he showed to others. In Japan, serving as an Army medic, Lane
tenderly cared for children with frostbitten feet and radiation poisoning.
As a husband and father, his family was his first and foremost
priority. He camped, hunted and fished with his family, took time to skip rocks
and tell stories, enjoyed telling jokes and playing hard ... he was the
definition of a loving and fun father. Lane's upbeat, positive attitude and
zest for life will be sorely missed.
As a churchman and community member, Lane gave freely of himself.
If hearing of a financial need, Lane would scrape together the money to help
others or give of his services, e.g., selling someone's home without a
commission. He served the church as a board member, usher, and young leader for
years. In 1980, when Columbia Community Church was to be built, Lane took off a
year, accepting no pay, to supervise the building of the church.
Lane was also an astute businessman, owner of Superior Realty,
builder of fine homes (L.E. Blankenship Construction, Inc.) and developer of
residential subdivisions, i.e. Blossom Hills, Lakeview Terrace, and Hills West.
Lane's ethical and fair treatment of others in business was well known. He
treated others according to the Golden Rule.
Lane's resilience and love of life was keenly seen in 1994 when he
had a terrible accident, falling through a roof and breaking his back. Lane
trusted God to heal him and fought back to live life fully. Thought never to
walk again, Lane walked and ran. He spent 15 quality years with his beloved
wife and family fishing the lakes, playing 'grizzly bear' with his grandsons,
and praising God for each day.
Lane is survived by his dear wife,
Wilma, and children:
Neal Blankenship (son) & his wife, Marcia; and Linda Peterman (daughter) & her husband, Randall; grandsons: Chad & (Mystie)
Blankenship, Josh & (Amanda) Blankenship, Reed
& (Megan) Peterman, Andrew Peterman, & Kyle Peterman.
Great-grandchildren: Grace, Taryn & Wyatt. Siblings: Bonnie (sister) & Glenn Gambil and Bane (brother) & June
Blankenship.
A celebration of Lane's life will be held on Wednesday, May 20, at
2:00 p.m., at Columbia Community Church (150 Gage Blvd. - Richland). Interment
at Desert Lawn Cemetery (1401 S. Union - Kennewick) will immediately follow
services.

2009, Wenatchee Heights, Chelan Co., WV, Obituary
http://obitsforlife.com/obituary/280141/Grubb-John-Dale.php
John Dale Grubb, passed away suddenly at
his Wenatchee Heights home on Tuesday, April 7, 2009. Born on May 9, 1937, to
John F. and Dorothy A. (Hampton) Grubb in Wenatchee, Dale, as everyone knew
him, was the oldest of four children and John and Dorothy's only son.
From the beginning of his remarkable life, Dale loved his home, his
family and working on the family ranch; he would never venture too far from the
peace and beauty of the only home he ever knew. As he grew up, Dale learned the
life of farming by working alongside his Dad, driving tractors, welding,
spraying and pruning fruit trees. He attended the one-room community school on
the Heights and was big brother to Marilyn, Barbara and baby sister, Tammy.
Dale was also a rascal, finding creative ways to have fun and get into trouble,
often with his lifelong friends, Mike Ogan and Bobby Isenhart. Riding toboggans from the top of Halvorson Canyon
all the way down to Squilchuck Creek was just one of
the hair-raising escapades that Dale and his friends cooked up.
His love of farming led him to be involved in 4-H and in FFA. In
1952, Dale was a 4-H State Champion tractor driver and competed in the 4-H Club
Congress that year in Chicago. He continued to be active in both 4-H and FFA,
supporting the programs that he and, in turn his children, found great
satisfaction in. At the time of his death, he was still a member of the
Wenatchee High School FFA Ag Advisory Board. Dale was also involved in the IFYE
program or International Farm Youth Exchange; in 1958, he traveled to Pakistan
and India, witnessing first hand the economic
struggles of the farming families he stayed with. He brought this perspective
back with him and it spurred him to be involved in improving the local
agricultural economy. He worked tirelessly for the Wenatchee Heights Irrigation
District Water Board, and also served several terms on the Federal Agricultural
Stabilization and Conservation Board. In the 1970's, along with Tom Mathison, Dale was instrumental in the installation of an
emergency water system that permanently linked Stemilt
Hill and Wenatchee Heights water systems to the
Columbia River, saving the fruit crop from a horrific drought. More recently,
he was involved in the development of a new pressurized irrigation system that
currently serves the orchards of the Heights.
One of Dale's early jobs led him to the love of his life, Mary
Colleen Shaw. He worked often as a bus driver and happened to be driving a bus
that transported student nurses from the Deaconess Nursing Dorm out to WVC for
classes. Mary was one of the student nurses who rode Dale's bus and, after
about two rides, she decided that he was the guy for her; he, though, had
picked her out after just one ride. Dale and Mary were married on May 16, 1959,
and settled down on the Wenatchee Heights ranch to raise their family. This
coming May 16 would have marked their 50th Wedding Anniversary, a milestone
that Dale was looking forward to celebrating with his beloved Mary.
As the years passed and the family was growing, Dale found it
necessary to work now and again off the ranch; he plowed snow for the State in
the winter and, as a Teamster, drove petroleum trucks for his old friend, Mike Ogan, at Wenatchee Petroleum and then, in later years, for
Grange Supply/Cenex. Another of his many accomplishments, was the role he played in the initial
construction at Mission Ridge. Working for his uncles, Wilmer and Walter
Hampton, Dale operated heavy equipment on steep and rocky hillsides. It was
wild and dangerous work, made even more so by a bear who was stealing lunches
from the work crew; Dale managed to not only battle that bear and save his
lunch, but to carve out parking lots, access roads and numerous Chair 1 and 2
ski trails.
Throughout his rich and full life, there was simply not much that
Dale didn't take part in. He was in the National Guard, loved to camp and hunt,
rode his horse, Ace, in the Chelan County Sheriff's Posse and, like his father
before him, was a Freemason in Wenatchee's Wm. Jett Lodge. In recent years, he
and Mary had taken several Alaska Cruises and he would talk with awe and wonder
of standing on a glacier and seeing icebergs calve into the bay. Friends and
family meant everything to him; he was a warm and loving brother, a devoted
husband and caring father to his children and simply doted on his
grandchildren. His many friends will attest that Dale was a people magnet; the
loss of his loyal, honest and generous spirit will leave a tremendous void in
the lives of his family and friends. He will be missed forever.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy;
He is survived by his wife, Mary at home; daughters, Connie (Mark)
Hodgson, Cathie (Dave) Massey and Carole (Dave) Reeves and his son, Mike
(Cindy) Grubb, all of Wenatchee. Also surviving Dale are his sisters, Marilyn (Phil) Northrup and
Tammy Grubb, both of Wenatchee and Barbara (Swede) Blankenship of Chelan. Perhaps his greatest and, no
doubt, proudest legacy lives on in his grandchildren, John, Adam and Katie
Grubb, Wade and Heather Massey and Madison and Dalton Reeves.
Services for Dale Grubb will be held Monday, April 13, 2009, at
11:00 a.m. in the Free Methodist Church, Fifth Street, Wenatchee. A Reception
of Celebration will be held after the service in the church's Fellowship Hall.
Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, East Wenatchee, WA.

Robert Blankenship "Bubba" "Gone Fishing" Husband, Father,
Son, Brother. Bubba
died March 19th, 2008. Born August 4th, 1936.
Bubba was preceded in death by his father Herb, mother
Irene and brother
Bud.
Survived by his wife of 43 years Alice, Puyallup, daughter Becky Little and husband (Sonnel) Mike,
Graham and daughter Julie Blankenship, San Jose, CA.
Bubba grew up in
Tacoma and attended Lincoln High School. He worked in the train yards, Certain
Teed Products and the Atlas Foundry to name a few. Bubba retired from the State
in 1992; he was the Building And Grounds Maintenance
Supervisor at Tacoma Community College where it was found difficult to
impossible to replace him. Bubba worked hard, played and lived hard, he
described himself as a "Jack Of All Trades, Yet Master Of None" For
those who knew, and those whom he helped, they knew he was a "Master Of
Much" Bubba had a love of the outdoors, some of his fondest memories were
of time spent on the "Sound or American Lake" and the Wynoochee River fishing where he said he knew every hole.
Another of Bubba's passions included motorcycle riding and shooting. He used to
ride and shoot with his dear departed friend Dick Smathers.
He also loved to play poker with friends of which he had many. A night at the
tavern included pool, darts and trips to the trunk for a little sip with
friends. Proud of his collection of antique "Old Huffer"
engines and antique outboard boat motors he loved to restore and get them
running again. Bubba was also a member of TOA. Past Member of
the WAC and the NRA. There is much left undone, our loss is the great beyond's gain where there is now a "Master
Tinkerer" Until We Meet Again.
There will be no immediate graveside services, Bubba would never
stand for his friends and family standing around "Blubbering". There
will be a celebration of Bubba's life at later date, we will announce it here.

Mrs
Vickie Lynn Olson-Barone, April 3rd, 1961 - August 18th, 2009; I met my wife
Vickie Lynn Olson in Garden Grove, California in 1990. She was a California
native, born in San Bernardino, April 3, 1961. We bumped into each other at a
bar called Loose Moose a popular rock club at the time. I asked her out on a
date and we went sailing on the 4th of July to watch Fireworks. We fell in love
that night and moved to Washington together in 1991, and were married March 12,
2001.
Vickie and I lived in many places in Western Washington do to my
work in construction. She worked as a hair stylist in the different cities that
we lived in. Vickie was an established hair stylist who had worked for many
years in the entertainment industry styling hair for people such as Eddie
Murphy (they shared the same birthday, so they would have a drink together
every year), Richie Blackmore, CC Deville and Brett Michaels.
In 1996 we bought our 36 foot Columbia Sailboat that Vickie named
“Orca Song” for her love of whales. We would save our money and when work got
slow we would set out sailing with our dog Ginger. Vickie loved sailing,
hiking, photography, the sea, whale watching and spending time with her
friends. She loved whales so much and was passionate about efforts to protect
them. When she passed away, I contacted Captain Paul Watson, with the Sea
Shepherd Conservation Society which is dedicated to saving whales, about
adopting a whale in Vickie’s name. It’s not usually done, but for Vickie they
are going to grant my request by sending me a picture of one the whales saved from
Japanese fishing fleet and a Certificate of adoption in her name, which will
allow her to live on in the Sea that she loved so much.
Vickie is survived by her husband, David L. Barone, stepson Adam,
mother Delta J. See, sister, Lisa Rene Mercer, brothers, Stevan Wayne, Stanley Freeman

Morgan, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.
