Know all men, by these presents, that we Richard Wodram and Mark Lacy are
held and firmly bound unto Rob't Brooke, Gov. of Virginia, in the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars to which payment will and truly made to be made to our Governor his heirs or succesors we do bind our selves our heirs be jointly and severly firmly by these presents, sealed with our seals, and dated this 25th day of Apt 1795.

The condition of the above obligation is such, that whereas the above bound Rich'd Wodram hath this day attained licence to marry Roda Blankenship if there is no lawful cause to obstruct sd marriage then this obligation to be void else ot remain in full foce and virtue.

The condition of the above obligation is such, that whereas there is a marriage shortly to be solemnized between the above bound John Scott and Amea Blankenship, daughter of Lodowick Blankenship of Greenbrier county; if therefore there shall be no lawful cause ot obstruct the said marriage then this obligation is void, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.

In April of this year, Lodewick (Jr.) Blankenship signed a bond for daughter Rhoda, but did not sign this one and because Isom Blankenship, brother of Lodewick Jr signed this bond, I believe that Amy is probably a sister of Isom and Lodewick Jr and the daughter of Lodewick Sr.)

Know all men by these presents that we Beverly Blankenship and John Kelly are held and firmly bound unto Robt Brooke, Esq. in the sum of One Hundred and Ffity Dollars to which payment well and truly to be made to our said Governor or his successors. We bind ourselves our heirs jointly and severally by firmly sealed with and seals dated this 18th day of April 1795.
The condition of the above obligation is such that if there be no lawfull Cause ot obstruct marriage intended to be had & solemenized between the Sd Blankenship & Nancy Anderson then the above obligation is to be void else to remain in full force and virtue.

“Richard Blankenship, Revolutionary War Soldier, was a member of Major James Robertson’s company of New River Valley volunteers who fought at the Battle of Point Pleasant. October 10, 1774. He lived on a 33 acre farm 8 mi. southeast, at Ingleside, Mercer co. and was recorded as an octogenarian in 1840 census. He was early settler, soldier, and progenitor of many people in this area.”
